Chapter 1306: A Divine Light of O’Tohelm, Holy Saintess

Izroth then turned his attention to the two individuals on the other side of the room. One of them was a mysterious man with an ashen beard who wore a set of white and golden combat robes. He had a hood pulled over his head that hid his facial features. And, although the robes hid most of his physical features, it could not completely hide his muscular frame.

This man was the other legendary realm figure Izroth sensed with his Energy Vision Sense. Based on his energy, Izroth estimated that he was around the upper end of the primary stage or lower end of the late stage.

As for the person next to him, it was a young woman seated elegantly on one of the private room’s chairs. She wore a long white dress covered with a thin layer of robes that matched. Her appearance was hidden by the hood pulled over her head; however, it did not hide her long silver hair that flowed out from the sides of the hood’s opening.

’So, she’s the owner of the divine power I sensed.’

Izroth used Divine Appraisal on the young woman to view her system information.

〈System Alert: The skill «Divine Appraisal» has failed! The selected target is protected by a strong divine power!〉

’Oh? For Divine Appraisal to fail because of the protection of a divine power and based on her attire, along with her abundance of divine power, there’s a high chance that she’s a Holy Saintess.’

The way authority worked in the kingdom of O’Tohelm differed from the other kingdoms, but the closest thing to a Holy Saintess would be a princess. Though the level of authority a Holy Saintess possessed was much greater than your typical princess because they wielded divine power. For the believers of the Order of the Radiant First Light, one’s divine power was a direct reflection of their connection to the Goddess of Light, Primalux.

That said, O’Tohelm was not exempt from power struggles. While the Holy Emperor’s words were considered to be the will of Primalux herself, the same could not be said for the others in the Radiant Order.

After the Holy Emperor, If one were to compare authorities, the Archbishops and the Holy Saints and Holy Saintess’ could be considered relatively equal. The main difference was that the Archbishops did not have the right to become the next Holy Emperor. The Archbishops were also the ones who controlled the deployment of the Judgment Army—a force known to be the strongest within the O’Tohelm kingdom. Without their approval, the Judgment Army could not be deployed on a large scale unless the Holy Emperor themselves brought forth the order.

’One of the three who attacked Empyrean and Selene and forced them into the Gate of the Separati back then was a Holy Saintess from the O’Tohelm kingdom, but... If she’s here right now, the timeline doesn’t add up. More importantly, the descriptions do not match.’

Polkentin, Aidoneus Jestal, and a Holy Saintess—Izroth had not forgotten about the three people who wronged Empyrean and Selene. That aside, Izroth was well aware of the fact that there was more than one Holy Saintess. The chances of the person before him now having anything to do with Empyrean and Selene’s misfortune was not zero; however, he was not so foolish as to jump to conclusions. Besides, he had more than one way of uncovering the truth.

"The timing of your visit could not have come at a better time, Supreme Elder of the Fourth Pavilion. First, allow me to introduce myself." The young woman said as she removed her hood.

The young woman’s silky long silver hair flowed freely as a pair of dazzling blue eyes were revealed. She appeared to be in her early to mid twenties. And, in terms of beauty, she did not lose out to those of the trephasia race.

"I am one who represents the will and faith of the brightest light. Blessed with the name Lucilla, I, the Holy Saintess of the Order of the Radiant First Light, offer my greetings." The young woman, Lucilla, said graciously.

She then continued, "I understand that it is a sudden request, but I would like for the Supreme Elder of the Fourth Pavilion to act as an impartial witness to this discussion."

’This works in my favor.’

Izroth had wondered how he would go about bringing up the matter related to the netherworld creature. Who would have thought that the Holy Saintess would create the path for him?

"You may call me Sagarus. While I do not know the exact details, that does not change the fact that the Golden Treasure House is under the management of the Fourth Pavilion. As such, I would prefer that this situation be handled as amicably as possible. Since this matter seems important to both sides, I am willing to accept Holy Saintess Lucilla’s request to act as an impartial witness." Izroth said calmly.

"Ridiculous! You dare to bring an outsider into this?! How can we trust one who does not look upon the brightest light to bear witness with an honest soul?" The man who appeared to be the leader of the Undying Desolate Valley representatives scowled.

The man briefly glared at Izroth with a look of annoyance in his eyes. Although it was their first time meeting, one could tell that the man from the Undying Desolate Valley did not look too favorably upon Izroth.

It could have been because Izroth was not a believer. However, Izroth assumed that another reason had to do with the fact that he declined their trade for an item earlier in the auction.

"The choice is not yours to make. You will cooperate or I will consider your reluctance as a sign of guilt. You are free to make your choice. However, you must be prepared to live with the consequences that follows." Lucilla said with a clear gaze.

The man could not hide his disdain and frustration at Lucilla’s words. But, he soon resigned himself as his sunken eyes shifted to Izroth.

"I am called Rakuno, Light Keeper of the Undying Desolate Valley. I will accept the Supreme Elder of the Fourth Pavilion as our witness. But..." Rakuno’s gaze moved back to Lucilla.

He then continued, "That does not change the fact that the Holy Saintess is accusing us of something absurd."

"Watch your tongue, Light Keeper. The Holy Saintess is not someone you can speak to however you please." The man who stood next to Lucilla stated sternly.

"Hmph! A guard dog should just obediently stand next to its master instead of barking so loudly." Rakuno scoffed.

"Insolent!"

"Let’s stop there." Lucilla said, as the man next to her halted his words.

She explained, "Since Light Keeper Rakuno is so certain of his innocence, then perhaps he could explain how that foul creature of darkness was able to hide itself right under his nose."

"I already told you that it must have somehow snuck into this place beforehand and hid itself. To what end? How can I possibly understand the thoughts of such a foul creature? What you ask is too unreasonable." Rakuno declared with an expression that looked as if he had been wronged.
