Chapter 1437: The new dao seed

Chapter 1437: The new dao seed

Liam spent the next several days silently meditating in the same spot in his room. The room had arrays for ambient mana and focus, and was top-notch without him doing anything. The sect's living quarters were tailored to the needs of its disciples, and Liam's current status as an alchemy prodigy ensured he had access to some of the best.

Walls lined with subtle rune formations breathed in tandem with the flow of mana, drawing in spiritual energy from the surroundings and concentrating it in a delicate spiral around him. The floor beneath his seated form faintly glowed, stabilizing his body and spirit, and dulling all sound from the outside world.

Days passed in near-perfect stillness. Liam didn't move, didn't speak, didn't eat. His breathing was imperceptible.

Within his consciousness, however, there was nothing but motion, threads of thought spinning together with strands of soul, the newly formed Dao seed slowly solidifying in his core. He was not just stabilizing the seed. He was integrating it and letting it grow roots into his being.

This newly formed Dao seed was very different from the others. In fact, it wasn't a newly formed Dao seed at all in a way. This was the same soul dao seed that he already had. He had had a soul dao seed since the time he figured out how to heal his soul using his soul minions.

However, right now, this dao seed had completely broken down and reformed. While previously he wasn't able to extract much from the dao seed in the way he had extracted power from the other dao seeds, now everything was different.

Liam could feel the new dao seed, which was in the shape of a small shard, deeply embedded into his very soul. At first, it looked still and dormant just like before, but that all changed when he started practising the soul cultivation technique.

The speed of his soul cultivation technique had now increased by leaps and bounds. He was now not too far away from forming his second constellation. The progress he had made in just these few weeks were tremendous when compared to his progress before. Not to mention forming a second constellation was a lot more difficult when compared to forming the first one.

This was not the only new development. When Liam took a closer look at the new soul dao seed, he found a small rune now inscribed within in. He was only able to see it after he became more familiar with his dao seed and this rune was none other than the origin rune.

He still hadn't quite grasped the complete meaning of the origin rune. He could only draw the similarities between the origin rune and the transmutation rune. But this in itself had deepened his understanding to such an extent that he was able to break down his old soul dao seed and reforge a brand new one.

The new one looked a lor more profound and grander when compared to the old one. He was also able to use the dao energy of the new soul dao seed to boost his attacks and not just soul attacks. Though the both dao seeds were similar, they were completely worlds apart when it came to quality and profoundity.

Liam couldn't help but be in awe every time he connected with the dao seed. If there were myriad paths in front of him, then one path had suddenly become a grand and golden one. Walking in this path gave him a very different feeling than walking in his other paths.

This one was a lot deeper than all the others. His understanding in this one was several times higher than all of the many dao seeds he possessed, making them all feel shallow and ordinary. It felt very wrong for all the other dao seeds to exist in the presence of a grand dao seed such as this.

Liam continued to immerse himself in understanding his dao seed more and more. He even tried to use his soul weaver thread with the help of this dao seed but it looked like that part still needed a lot more effort from him.

Despite the tremendous strides he had made, Liam knew this was only the beginning. He had barely even scratched the surface of the newly formed dao seed. He continued training his soul strength and connecting with his new dao seed and just like that the next several days flew by.

Soon it was time for the sect's treasure lands to open up. In this time, Liam had already sent out his attendant to gather all sorts of information about these treasure lands. He also personally set out to gather more details.

There were two things he came across in this time. The first being that his reputation had somehow skyrocketed yet again, his name becoming famous in all corners of the sect, thanks to his very public dao seed breakthrough.

Liam awkwardly cringed when he heard about this but he did not care. The gains he had this time was a lot greater. If he had done something like pause or forcibly refrain the breakthrough from happening, then who knows if he might have ended up with the same dao seed or a different one.

Dao seeds were not so simple that he would be bold and daring to pause and breakthrough according to his will and whim.

The second important information was about the treasure lands. Apparently, it was an ancient pocket world which was the main reason why the sect had grown so much in the past several centuries. So the treasures inside could potentially be fate-breaking.

There was no way to monitor what went on inside and everyone who entered the treasure lands did so at their own risk. Once inside, the protective hand of the sect did not apply. There were no elders watching from above, no talismans that could teleport one out at the last moment.

The moment a disciple stepped into the treasure lands, they became both hunter and prey, and only their skills, cunning, and fate determined whether they walked back out or became another ghost haunting the ruins.

There were several strongholds of the sect inside the treasure lands and several maps that talked about relatively safer regions and more dangerous regions.

As long as one stuck to the safer zones, there would be no risk to one's lives. Accordingly, the gains would also only be moderate. However, the treasure lands were so amazing that these moderate gains themselves were enough to push one's level to the next realm.

Rumors swirled around what could be found inside: broken inheritance grounds, elemental nodes, ancient beasts in hibernation, soul-tempered weapons, and even the lingering wills of long-dead cultivators that tested passersby for compatibility. It was the kind of place that could reshape one's path entirely… or end it abruptly.

There was also a rumor that the founder of the sect was inside the treasure lands. The story went that the founder managed to come across an ancient inheritance, and ever since then, he had been undergoing secluded meditation in the treasure lands.

Liam silently observed all the information he received about the treasure lands and fully prepared himself before setting out of his quarters on the opening day.

It was time to finally go inside and see for himself exactly what these treasure lands were and why even the cauldon senior had nudged him to pay attention to it.
