Chapter 2581: Base Instinct

Chapter 2581: Base Instinct

Parth became incredibly wary.

He scanned the surroundings to the very atom to find anything that could be causing this. But none. There was no energy or spiritual connection between the butterfly and any other creature or object in the surroundings.

And as soon as its done distracting Sam just when he was about to focus, its moving away from him.

Parth looked at it intently and just when it was about to land on Sam’s arrow again..

*FLICK*

With a flick of his finger, the invisible force attacked the butterfly.

It disappeared in a puff of dust and smoke.

It was sparkling and ethereal almost. And it flew straight towards Sam.

He blocked his nose, almost on instinct to stop inhaling it. But it didn’t matter. The dust and smoke just disappeared as soon as they touched his skin.

And Sam’s mind was invaded by something that he thought has long conquered.

The image of a woman who he never forgot appeared in his mind. His heart beat quickened. He felt like a raging fire was lit up inside him. The blood circulation altered a bit. He felt it going towards a certain location on his body.

Sam shook his head and tried to cultivate. He tried to calm his mind and body down. But he couldn’t.

He felt like a horn dog on an aphrodisiac. He was invaded with such sense of lust... he craved pleasure like never before.

He put the bow down and sat on the ground immediately.

He closed his eyes and tried to meditate.

’What the fuck is happening?’

He muttered to himself and took deep breaths. However, at that moment, all the beast bloodlines in his body raged.

One of the primary differences between beasts and humans or any other humanoid sentient creature that cultivates... is that the sentience calms down some feral instincts. While the beasts even with their insane cultivation levels are in a way slaves to their instincts.

And while the instincts that were fuelled by these beast bloodlines only helped Sam until now, in winning battles and taming many beasts... right now they became a bane.

Lust had been one of the most base instincts of the beasts and right now, Sam felt ten times lust any beast could ever feel.

His skin turned a bit red and Sam even felt a faint pain in his genitals.

He trembled like a leaf in a storm.

He is out of control.

Parth stepped in and placed his hand on Sam’s head. He closed his eyes and both of their souls interacted just for a moment.

Like a jolt, Sam shook.

He was sweating bullets, however his body calmed down a bit.

He panted heavily and just laid down on the ground, looking at the bright blue sky.

"What the hell happened to me?"

This time he asked out loud. Parth once again checked Sam and the surroundings.

"No idea. I can’t sense anything."

And that immediately made Sam thinking of something.

"Gods."

"Gods?" Parth asked skeptically.

"Yes. The Gods. Only those assholes could do something like this, if even you can’t sense it."

"Don’t you think you are drawing a conclusion, a little too quickly?"

"I might be. But sometimes the simplest and the easiest conclusion is the actual answer. And the gods have communicated with me that I would face a calamity soon. So, this might be it."

"A sudden burst of lust? That’s your calamity?" Parth asked in disbelief. Because that didn’t feel much like a calamity. But Sam’s thoughts were different.

"Lust is a base instinct. And a base instinct is always dangerous to the person who feels it, if they can’t control it.

Right now, I couldn’t control it... at least not as quickly as I wanted to. This is definitely a calamity."

Both of them stayed silent for a moment.

"Right now, the progress has been going well. Make the production team work as per the plan. If anything, contact me using my shadow mice. I am going back to the base."

"Wait, why are you going back to your base? I will be here with you. I will help you clear your mind if there is another attack.

You can’t make decisions just based on one incident. For all we know this could be a plan from the other areas."

Sam hesitated for a moment. Normally, he would just follow his gut instinct. Even if someone’s cultivation is higher than him, he would always trust his own intuition.

And his intuition never gave weight to any coincidences.

"I need to test it. That’s the only way to be sure."

Sam left Hastin and went back to the main base. The moment he appeared, he saw two butterflies around him. Unlike the first one, without even having to destroy the butterflies, they exploded on their own and made him absorb that smoke and dust.

Sam hurriedly activated shadow fusion, converted himself into pure shadow and dove into the shadow portal.

He thought the fusion form, which kinda eliminates the physical features, might actually help him, but it didn’t.

Instead, it disturbed his focus too much, his fusion form wasn’t stable enough.

However, he prepared himself, he stopped resisting the external shadow energy from the shadow world and let it invade his body.

The energy, which wasn’t being refined real time, put him through more than enough pain to actually pull him out of it. He still got those thoughts, but he wasn’t lost in them.

Finally, Sam felt his head clear up.

He came out of the portal and contacted his team members and the managers to inform them of the new situation.

Meanwhile... far far away from the Divine realms.

Deep in the celestial realm, on the mount Olympus.

Zeus sat on his throne looking at Sam through a screen.

"This little fucker. How can he be so lucky? How does he always have the right instinct?"

He muttered to himself in frustration. He had half the mind to smite a world with calamity to let out his frustration. But he calmed himself down and said to himself.

"Struggle as much as you want. The seven calamities... this I sonly the first one. You are not going to hack it."
