Chapter 2383: The Next day
Chapter 2383: The Next day
The next day.
Sam woke up from his deep rest. The first thing he did was to check everything that he had on him.
As much as he trusted the soul contract, ever since he found out about the faith of agmon and their method to move past the soul contract, he became a bit more vigilant about it as well. Luckily, his fears were completely unfounded.
Not only was not robbed of anything, he was even left alone. To rest in privacy.
Not even the three candidates were left there. He woke up and looked around. Everything from the day before was left as it was. Only the three candidates were removed.
A few minutes after he left, Trike and the elders came into the room. They didn't speak. They didn't even know what to say. The Elders had their doubts of course, so they too shook to speak their thoughts.
But it is a different matter for Trike.
He had a feeling that he could trust Sam, but he wasn't able to wrap his head towards that successful result, because he couldn't even imagine the process and possibility of the process to succeed.
Now that he saw it, he is at a loss of words. He cannot even find the proper words of appreciation to shower Sam with.
"I am guessing those three candidates are fine? I am sure they might have woken up and felt normal by now. Their process to adapt will be very quick." Sam asked as he stretched his body. Even though he went into a sleep due to physical and mental exhaustion, the feeling of rest is very satisfactory.
There are few pleasures that could beat a night's peaceful sleep.
"That's what I wanted to talk to you about. Do you want to see how they are doing?"
"Sure."
Sam and the elders went to the arena next door. This is also a secret residence and there are a bunch of soldiers wearing the same uniform. All of them at the initial stage of Divine plane initiation. All of them in the first grade level standing there in a queue.
There are three five rings in the room, and out of five, three are occupied. Each ring occupied by one candidate.
The candidates are emanating a black glow, the result of their constant circulation of dark elemental energy with the atmosphere.
The soldiers in these uniforms went up one after another into the arena and the three candidates are fighting with them.
There are already a bunch bodies, limbs and blood decorating the arena. A lot of soldiers are already dead, but it seemed like the remaining soldiers are not really fazed by this. They are walking straight into the arena, without thinking about the life or death.
They are fighting with stern expression even as their throats are being ripped apart, like robots.
The ones with maximum emotion there are the three candidates. They are still shock over their new found strengths.
Their spiritual energy is off the charts, their physical strength is not something they could have ever imagined. They didn't even know that a person can be this strong, they never ever imagined it.
And right now, they are just using this physical strength to fight the soldiers that are coming at them.
"Who are these soldiers?" Sam asked. He is really curious about them. The hub ensured that there are not many things in this academy realm that he is not aware of. But these soldiers he has never seen them.
"These are my personal soldiers. A separate program that I am working on. It is funny though. I thought you would have seen through them already."
Sam is surprised and frowned. He activated energy vision immediately and the moment he did he was shocked.
The energy interaction between these soldiers and the surrounding atmosphere is completely unnatural. It is not similar to how it is with normal cultivators. No matter what kind of cultivation technique a person uses, their interaction with the spiritual energy will have at least one common point with the rest.
However, these people didn't have it. It is almost like... they are machines or something that is not alive.
But Sam can clearly see it. The blood and flesh all over the place. Then he thought of something and his bloodline surged. The Raiju bloodline increased his sense of smell to the maximum and he suddenly felt a huge pungent smell of dead flesh invade his mouth.
"They are undead?"
Sam is dumbfounded.
He crouched down and observed the blood. Then only he realized that is not truly blood. It is similar to blood and is definitely made out of blood, but it is not pure and warm blood that circulates through a living creature.
Trike nodded and said.
"Yes, they are undead creatures. The undead creatures of the highest level that you can imagine. They are one of the greatest creations my underlings created. A project that I almost spent a century on before it yielded any decent results."
Sam is surprised, but he didn't attempt to move further and check it. Because just within his heightened senses, he could guess a lot of things based on the smell. And now that he found the anomaly he started the see more things that he previously ignored.
He also understood one of the reasons why these creatures are unable to do much damage to the candidates.
"That is why these undead are extremely weak. The three candidates are designed to feed on the death energy. Anything that has death energy will be nothing more than feed to them. Of course, the quality is not too strong at their current level, but when fighting with same level, the death energy is basically nullified.
And these undead creatures... from the looks of it, their death energy is circulated through that blood. They don't have freedom on how their energy will be transferred. So, when the quality of the candidates is effecting the death energy, they are unable to correct it.
Making them the easiest target of them all."
Sam explained out loud without evening thinking. Trike nodded with a subtle smirk. He knew
Sam would figure this out.
"I am sure, you can figure out why I am showing this to you."
"A show of good faith."
"Right. I can understand why you have the desperate need to make us sign those contracts and if I were in your position, I would have done the same and much more.
That is why, I am showing you this. You have done me a great favor. A favor that I can hardly even think of ways to repaying you. I am sure I will not be able to repay you in this life time. So, I at least want you to trust me enough to be at ease around me.
And this is my show of good faith. After all, I cannot ask you to trust me without me trusting you. So, I am trusting you with one of my most hidden secrets.
In fact, even the four elders don't know much about this and barely know the basics. Out of which most are their speculations."
Sam stayed silent. He suddenly felt a bit bad about all the schemes. Maybe he has become way too good at hoodwinking people after doing it for so long. Trike is really trusting him.
This made him have some second thoughts about his original plan. Of course, before he could do that, he needs to consult the Khufu. One of the managers, and the person who was from the
Set's academy.
Sam did agree to help him solve the grudge and he cannot back down now just because he had
a good impression on one of them.
"Alright. So, how are they doing?"
"They have been fighting for over three hours now. Only physical attacks. Their affinity
against death energy is working well. Their physical strength is beyond the limits of someone at the same level. They are very sensitive to dark elemental energy.
Their senses improved to be the best that I have seen. Their souls are stable and will power
has improved." Trike gave Sam an update.
Sam nodded and said.
"There is one problem and I already mentioned it to you before. You should find a way to actually increase their will. You need to harden them. I might have increased their soul energy, but the size of the soul wouldn't matter if they can believe that they can hold up to
that.
They can easily turn to madness if they are not ready.
To avoid the risk, always keep on testing them. Put them through challenges with gradually increasing difficulty. Anyway, since the prince of darkness will take over, there wouldn't be a problem for short term. Otherwise, in long term, no amount of measures will be enough to
save them.
They will soon collapse under the weight of the new found talent because their minds are not
strong enough."
Trike nodded and said.
"I will keep that in mind.
Now, it is time to put the vessels to use. I guess you have to part with the black smoke."
