Chapter 1920: Hermes
Chapter 1920: Hermes
The clash between the wind currents and the birds that formed because of it raged wildly.
The god came forward with every passing second as he attacked relentlessly, while Sam is much more composed. No matter how many attacks came, he only focused on blocking them and he returned exactly the same number of attacks back to the god.
He is testing the god out.
Giving off a feeling that Sam is confident and stable enough to not even bother initiating an attack of his own. He is just sitting there in his position with a smile on his face.
"Is this also your doing? A Bastard Named Sam that is challenging the authority of the Olympus?"
Sam opened his eyes for the first time.
By now the god is very close to the winged mountains and he just spewed these words out. Sam gritted his teeth in slight anger. He must say that he grew a lot of tolerance for this word, but that doesn't mean he is not angry about it.
And that also doesn't mean that he is going to let anyone go if they speak that word in front of him
He thought for a moment and decided to make a move.
He sent mental messages to a few beasts. Dia started activating her gravitational fields she placed in various mountains, this creates a pressure gradient at various spots within the mountain region and next Sam instructed Yanwu to heat up the air.
The wind currents that have been the same for many decades if not centuries are going to change for the first time.
Usually, gravity creates a vertical pressure gradient on the planets and because of this when air is heated up, it tends to move higher while the cold winds which are denser will move lower this is the main reason for vertical wind currents.
But now Sam is creating individual gravitational fields that are higher than the gravitational field of the planet. These fields are also focused on very specific areas and their influence is very limited.
Usually, to change the course of the wind currents in a valley like this, the wind currents that could injure a Divine Plane cultivator, one needs a lot of energy and mental strength. It would be much more difficult since the wind currents are also natural.
So, Sam is creating a natural phenomenon artificially and he is manipulated the wind currents the way he wanted to. Of course, he is not going to change the landscape for that.
He knew better than to destroy this area and make it inhabitable.
In front of the surprised gazes of everyone, the wind currents that hadn't changed many years finally changed, they took the same input paths, but they didn't exit the same ways. The gravitational fields in the mountains redirected them.
Almost of these paths had the same origin point when traced back and that is split at Winged Mountain, now after cycling all over the place, all these currents are hitting the Winged Mountains once again from different angles.
Unlike before when the Winged mountain only glowed whenever Sam made an attack or defended against it, this time the winged mountain stayed in a constant glowing state.
And the wind that was being released by that mountain is taking a shape of a large humanoid figure bit by bit.
The god was a bit flustered, but he didn't make a move. He understood that this is going to be the showdown and he is all up for it.
Within the next couple of seconds, Sam manifested into a large humanoid figure, and its resemblance with him in canny.
It is basically him in a giant condensed wind form.
Sam didn't manifest any weapons though. He just looked tall and strong looking at the God in front of him.
"Let me guess. Hermes?"
"So, you know me. At least you have a decent knowledge about who you are messing with. But not enough to know not to mess with us."
"Can we really stop this prideful speech about your Olympian ass? I am really sick of it. And you are nowhere near accurate to the actual knowledge that I have about you. You are far more arrogant and far weaker than I thought."
"Hmph, to challenge a god's strength. How ignorant are you?"
Sam didn't even bother talking to him anymore. His figure lunged forward and threw a punch at Hermes. Hermes dodged the punch easily. He just floated backward, but from the tip of Sam's fist, a large wind cannon that is condensed with wind blades was shot.
*BOOM*
With an explosive noise, the condensed wind which formed Hermes's body was disturbed. The arm of Hermes in particular which was targeted almost scattered because of that one attack.
Hermes didn't take it lightly though, he waved his staff and a large wind blade came at him.
Sam didn't even bother dodging. He just let it enter his body. His body was indeed disturbed and fluctuated but it didn't scatter. The fluctuation just lasted for a fraction of a second and it stayed the same beyond that.
It is because the winged mountains are constantly feeding the energy and the wind required for Sam to maintain his form. Unlike Hermes who has his powers restricted and only possesses a limited amount of energy, Sam has an almost infinite amount of energy.
"Come on, don't stop now. Let's go. I want to see how long you can last with all of that big talk."
Sam didn't want to give Hermes any time to think this through. He just jumped at him and started beating the crap out of him. Hermes tried to dodge, but most of the time it is not working. His body is being scattered bit by bit and his recovery time is longer compared to Sam.
Sam smirked at this and said.
"Come on, with all that tongue yapping, I thought you would at least present some contest. This is way too easy. If you don't land a decisive hit in the next five seconds, I will fucking end this."
As he spoke, Sam did a spinning back kick and threw Hermes far away into the ravine. He then followed up with a tackle and took the body to the ground.
Hermes finally couldn't take it and dispersed his body. After all, even if they are solidified they are made of wind, he just let go of Sam's grip and manifested his body a bit away from him, but Sam didn't give him too much time to recover. He once again lunged and threw a kick.
For the next five seconds, Sam kicked at least three times and the fourth kick landed but it might have gone past the five-second mark.
"Alright. I already gave you the chance. Don't blame me."
Sam said as he snapped his fingers and his wind form disappeared into the winged mountains. Hermes was a bit confused. Before he knew it, the winged mountains are glowing like never before and instead of just taking in the wind, it is converting all of it into the purest form of wind elemental energy.
And the energy was evenly distributed all over the surface that is covered with the inscriptions.
Before Hermes could even react, the mountain surface shot a large energy beam attack of wind elemental energy and that energy beam is in the exact shape as the ravine the wind is coming from.
*BOOM*
A massive continuous explosive sound came as the energy beam collided with the coming current of the wind and created that continuous clashing sound and it hit Hermes directly and went past him.
Sam opened his eyes as the explosion continued for the next three minutes.
"I should have done it the moment he appeared. Screw testing myself, I should just beat these guys up and send them backpacking. Arrogant assholes."
He muttered to himself as he stood up.
"I think the disaster is done. I will go back with the beasts. You guys can clean up the mess."
Sam was about to take off immediately. By this point it is boring. The things he read about Hermes are not even half true, he is slowly losing interest in meeting these Olympian gods and he also has a research project that is eating his brain away.
But at that moment, the clan leader in charge of the Winged City came forward hurriedly.
"Sir Sam, I would like to make a presumptuous request."
Sam frowned and asked.
"What is it?"
"The way you used the Winged Mountains and the Wind currents, is it possible for you to impart your methods to us.
I know that I am asking for a lot more after you took so much effort to save us. But with these winged mountain attacks, my city will be a lot safer.
Because of this disaster, many of the other clan members gained access to the formations and other defensive measures of our city, it will not end well if any one of them decides to use this for their benefit."
