Chapter 1912: Beautiful City
Chapter 1912: Beautiful City
After the meal is over, Sam was left alone.
He used too much of his brain power, at least that is what Priestess thought and told him to rest. She made sure none of the clans would go around and bother him. After witnessing the disasters, the clans are all feeling anxious.
Everyone wanted to find a way to make Sam visit their clan sooner and start working on the defense.
They wanted to see if they can bribe him. They even wanted to offer up their young ladies and not even as marriage partners.
Priestess was disgusted by their behavior and she was adamant about not letting them disturb him.
"He will only interact with you when he knows about the next disaster, until then you are not allowed to talk to him or pester him. Let his rest properly."
She was strict, cold and unyielding. This made everyone stay put.
After they left, Sandhya and Priestess sat down to play some chess.
"Mother, don't you think my brain should also get some rest? Why are making me play chess?"
"My problem is that you are not even using your brain enough. Until you beat me in at least one game, you are not getting any rest. As I said, I am still going easy on you."
Sandhya resigned to her fate and just kept on playing. This is their daily routine. As long as Sandhya is on the mountain, she has to play chess with her mother every day.
"Mother, I need to ask you something."
"Go ahead."
"Why are you caring for Sam so much? Do you like him?"
"Yeah, I like him a bit." Priestess answered casually.
"But don't you think your age difference is a bit too high?"
Priestess stopped her move mid air and looked at her daughter with a weird expression, then she extended her hand and gave a forehead flick.
"AHHH… Why are you hitting me like this?"
"If you were a bit younger, I would have spanked you silly. What kind of thoughts are running your head. Do you not know any other 'like' other than that?"
"I mean, you only ever cooked for your father and Makar Clan's head, so when I saw that you cooked for him, I just.."
"Let your mind seep into your gutter, is that it?"
Sandhya pouted and just stared at the chessboard.
"He is a kid. He shouldn't be much older than you. Why would I have romantic feelings for a child? You must be out of your mind. Maybe I should kick you out of the temple for a while and let you roam around.
Staying in one place must have created mould in that head of yours."
"Then why are you caring for him? It is so unlike you."
"If you activate your bloodline ability you will understand. Karthikeya said that the kid has been away from him home for a long time. He has been on one mission after another for years and he has been roaming around the worlds.
I just wanted to make him feel a bit comfortable while he is helping us."
"If you say so.
But I am really shocked by everything he does. His combat ability is one thing, but his ability with formations and inscriptions are something else. I think he created so many of his own unique formulae for inscriptions that I have never even seen that many inscriptions before.
At first when he gave us the blueprint of his designs directly, I felt like he is a bit desperate. After all, his formations are so refined and powerful, who would give away such thing? But when I looked through the blueprint I felt like I am an idiot.
I don't understand half of it. I was able to build certain portions of the formations based on the instructions he left, but when I tried to understand and derive the rest of the construction method, I came up with nothing.
It is impossible.
It is way head of the technology within our planet.
And when I saw him leaving the formations after the disasters are over, I almost felt like I lost my own money over there.
The most intriguing thing of all, the beasts. How could the godly beasts like themselves submit to a normal human?"
"What makes you think he is normal though? You yourself said all the great things he showed you, but why are you assuming that he is normal? Just because he is a human?"
"I mean, us humans are not exactly a race with many perks right? At least that is what the history says."
"It seems like you forgot very important parts of the human history. You are indeed correct that humans are a race that didn't have many perks, but what humans have is hidden potential that is driven by their will.
The boy received the blessing of a god and became immortal at the age of sixteen. An emperor turned sage that made the king of heavens tremble. A warrior-sage that wiped out 21 civilizations alone. A man who defeated a demon king that made the king of gods look like a child.
All of those humans, what do you think they have in common? Unadulterated ambition, sheer will that defies human nature, and will power always manifested into strength. I feel like Sam is that kind of person."
The mother-daughter pair kept on chatting while playing chess.
Meanwhile, Sam had a very relaxed time. Just like the priestess promised, he was allowed to rest well. He roamed around the mountains even stumbled across a hidden waterfall.
He couldn't help but feel a bit at peace because of the beauty and serenity of the nature. He played music and relaxed.
Of course, it didn't last long, on the second day of his rest, he was given a new vision about the third disaster.
It is going to happen at the Forest City.
Sam immediately made his move with the young masters. On his way, he went through the information of the Forest city presented by the temple officials.
The Forest city is actually very close to the Mountains they were staying at, so it didn't take very long for them to go there.
Sam was a bit confused when he saw the city thought. It is a city, but it is unlike any city he has ever seen before. The city was completely built within the forest and even the city itself felt like a forest.
The whole area is covered in giant trees and there are some houses that are even built on those trees. Sam felt like he is in a fairytale land of treehouses.
He met with the clan leader.
"Hello, thank you for visiting us and thanks in advance for helping us."
"You are welcome. I like your city. I must say this is one of the most unique cities I have ever seen."
"Thank you, I am sure my ancestors who built the city will be very satisfied with your praise."
"So, from the reports that I gained, the forest for a few square kilometers around you, is all of your territory and it is a haven for the beasts. Is that true?"
"Yes. The forest has multiple springs with very unique abilities. But the common ability among them is the fertility rate. The beasts have a better chance of giving birth to an offspring of a higher bloodline purity.
Their reproduction rate is also very high.
In fact, this forest holds the highest population density of beasts in the whole planet."
Sam nodded in understanding.
"Then the trees? The wood element seems to be running rampant here."
"Of course, the wood element is very high. To the point there are some places where the energy is physically visible. Some springs that I mentioned even have liquified energy merged with them."
"This is indeed a great place. And you guys managed to coexist in this place without destroying and damaging it much. You have my respect."
"Thank you.
Can you guess what kind of disaster might strike this place?"
"It is going to be an Olympian god of course and it is going to be related to the surroundings. I do have some speculations in mind, but your unique layout is giving me some doubts as well as ideas.
Let me explore the area for half a day. I need to make sure that I can defend against all the possible scenarios."
"Please let us know how we can assist you."
"My beasts are already on the task. Please tell your hunters to be wary of them. I might be here to save you guys, but my beasts are my absolute bottom line. Make sure you don't hurt them."
"Of course, all the people from our clan are informed."
"That is good to know.
The only problem is I like your city and the surroundings way too much, let's hope that it wouldn't be destroyed."
