Chapter 1736: Hel's Warning
Chapter 1736: Hel's Warning
Sam came back to the empty space along with the rest of the players.
Everyone is in a bad shape and every one of them has their weapons on the side. None of them are even in a condition to stand up.
But when they looked at Sam, they couldn't help but shake their head and heave a sigh. Ever since their trials through hell have begun, Sam is being served the worst hand.
Even Dayus who always got the advantage felt that it is too much. Just from the looks of it, they could see that Sam must have gone through more bodies than them and the difference is definitely not a small number.
They all felt weird energy coming to them and their injuries are slowly disappearing.
Sam also felt this pleasant energy healing his wounds. He could feel the small scars on his fingers getting mended and the scars disappeared.
He frowned and said.
"Scars."
Hel looked at him with a frown.
"What?"
"Leave the scars behind."
"What? Do you think that will give you a macho look or do you think your enemies will be intimidated by that? All that amounts to is you being a weirdo."
Sam didn't even bother to answer that, he just looked at her coldly and after a few seconds of contemplation, he felt the healing again and this time, the scars were left behind. Hel took it up on herself to heal his face back to normal though.
But all the scars on his body are left behind.
Sam was satisfied with it. He looked at Hel and asked.
"What do I get for the misbehavior of those demigods?"
"Why would you get anything? They will get punished."
"The game became unfair to me."
"For the last two minutes."
"It is still my game. I am a man who adheres to rules, even though I am just a mere mortal from mortal realms. It seems like the higher the strength and authority of a god, the lower their standards regarding these things.
Whatever then. Fuck off."
"You better mind your words. Challenging the whole of Olympus like that is the most idiotic a Demigod can do, much less a guy who is years if not decades away from being a Demigod. I thought you were known for your intelligence.
Idiot."
"I do mind my words. I speak very carefully. Because, unlike you gods, my words are worth something. They have a weight that makes me feel accountable and responsible for everything I say.
So, you don't have to give me that advice.
And as I said, you can fuck off as soon as you give out the rewards.
I am pretty sure I killed every fucking opponent there could be in my case. It is my win and by overwhelming difference."
He glanced at the other players.
They are a bit frustrated. They need these wins for their future growth. Even though they don't know to what extent these badges and points will come in handy in the future, they are sure that they will definitely come in handy at one point in time.
So, they are obviously frustrated to lose like this consecutively and that too the point difference between the players means, the difference in what they are to gain in the future through this will be faster.
They cannot afford that. Except for Sam, every one of them is on somewhat at the same level and the difference between them and Sam at least in terms of cultivation level was not too big.
That too because Sam has to gather enough resources to keep his friends growing at the same pace as the players. They don't want that difference to grow too big.
They looked at Hel and Arkiv spoke.
"I would like to relay a message to the rest of the gods."
"Yes, what is it?"
"Tell them to get their act together and make the game fair. Don't make everything tough for him and don't target him like this.
If you really want the game to exist that is.
He is not some normal pawn on their chessboard. He is a special piece that belongs to a whole different game and he has enough strength fucking burn the whole board.
So, take it easy. I am sure the rest of the players also agree with me on this."
The players indeed agreed.
They got whatever mediocre rewards they could get and everyone dispersed. After they left, Hel's cold and uncaring look turned into one that of frustration.
"Damn pesky brats. Do you think I don't want to end this? I went too far now I don't even have a chance to turn back. You have to suffer a bit more, there is no turning back now."
She muttered to herself and right when she was about to disappear, she thought of something and snapped her fingers.
The players who were sent back to their respective towers suddenly heard a message.
"The next round will be exactly six months from now. To the second. So, be prepared."
Sam thought for a moment and felt a little happy about this. Now that he knew the exact time, as long he doesn't lose the track of time like before, he could be much well prepared.
The other players also heard this obviously and this time, they all had determined expressions.
Sam has been targeted since the start, which is by no means fair. But they are suffering in the middle. If there is another task that just goes like this, they will fall back way too much.
At least in the last one, they were able to have a chance to clear the task with decent results. They cannot guarantee with Sam's madness the same thing will be possible in the next round too.
So, they have to make a hard choice here and prepare for the worst of the scenarios, they have to be in top condition in body and mind and they have to keep on training with Hell's Corruption.
This is going to be tough.
And this is not just limited to the players.
Meanwhile, back in one of Olympus' Divine realms, all the Demigods that participated in treating Sam like a gladiator gathered.
They are all on their knees. They didn't have a single arrogance on their faces.
Zeus's virtual projection is floating in front of them.
"Are you insulting the Olympus or the status of demigods? How dare you attack a person when you are ordered by me exclusively to not attack him? I even told you to not attack him. I deliberately instructed you not to attack that person. But you did it anyway.
All the gods are now pointing at Olympus and laughing at me.
Do you have any idea how much humiliation I have suffered?
I also told you not to deliberately pick a fight with him, I even told you that he will provoke you and pick a fight with you and I also told you that he can back his talk up. That is also why I told you not to pick a fight.
Now, you picked a fight with him, got so easily provoked that you broke the rules of the competition, and threw away all things that I told you to do.
And even lost your cool.
It seems like you all need to be punished.
Your ceremony will be postponed for five years."
The demigods didn't even know what to say. Their faces are filled with horror. Zeus sent them away even before they could digest the news.
Meanwhile back at Zeus' place he opened his eyes and looked at Hel.
"What the hell happened in this battle? Care to explain?"
"What is there to explain? It happened just like all the other times. Sam is targeted because he talks too much and your subordinates like to brag too much. Is there even anything new?
I am so used to it to the point it is a routine for me at this point.
"I am not kidding. Tell me, what happened exactly? I didn't ask for you to place Sam in Olympus and what is with the selection of Demigods? They are all the nobility under Olympus.
They belong to the Divine realms that are connected to the Celestial realms of Olympus. Some of them have the gods' blood running through their veins. It is almost like you wanted someone to get on Sam's nerves and wanted Sam to retaliate like this."
Hel just shrugged him off and said.
"I don't care what you think. But it is pure coincidence. The only reason I picked these Demi gods, is because they are easier to find if I search for them in your direct connected realms. I am not going to look through thousands of people to pick them.
Your lesser gods recommended them and I took them.
It is not my fault if all of your demi gods have giant egos that are completely baseless.
Just keep them in line more and it will do you good.
And just hope that next time Sam doesn't fall into one of your territories. He seems really pissed and even though I think it is really entertaining if he really does fall in your territory, I still think with the nature of the next task, it will trigger him way too much.
It is not good for the rest of the players."
