Chapter 992: Nice Weather
“So, nice weather, huh?”
Everyone glanced over at Rael, their brows furrowing slightly. The one who spoke next was obviously Vatyra.
“Weather, where? Do you see a sky in the sewers?”
Rael shrugged. “Keep an open mind. You might actually see something.”
He pointed at the ceiling, and to the surprise of everyone present, the sky was in clear view. That was because he cast a simple spell that showed the starry sky, devoid of all light pollution.
Honestly, he wished that they would be a little more impressed. After all, it really was beautiful. But they were beings beyond myths. Beings that could traverse the universe however they wanted.
And so, seeing something like that was just an annoyance. More so for Vatyra, who realized what he had just done.
“Hey… You idiot. Are you trying to expose where all of us are? Do you know just how many enemies we have? Remnants of Solenne’s faction, people that got caught in the crossfire of our battle, and even more… Don’t use mana here,” she said.
Rael let out a sigh. “You’re worried over nothing. Every single being that even remotely gets close to this planet would be instantly decimated by me.”
“I seem to have been able to enter it, though?” Vatyra pointed out.
“Because I let you. On that note, you should probably eat the turkey, since I’m feeling pretty hungry,” Rael replied.
Hearing him threaten her turkey, Vatyra was immediately offended. How dare he even suggest that? Before he could get any funny ideas, she dug in, devouring the turkey at a ridiculous speed.
On the other hand, Uriel just stared at Vatyra, while Solenne stared at Rael. She was a bit pissed off, in the sense that the first thing he did when he sat down at this table was stir up problems. With Vatyra of all people.
“You should eat as well. Though, I’m not sure if my food will satisfy the palate of a god such as yourself,” Solenne said.
Rael shrugged and tasted the food. As expected, it was absolutely delicious, from the cook on the meat all the way to the minor details on the plating. If she wanted a job in one of his restaurants, Rael would give her one in a heartbeat.
But alas, there were also some issues he found with the way she did things in general. And that was that she used some sort of circular device to eat instead of a fork. Well… Whatever quirks she was into.
Though it was neither a fork nor chopsticks. It didn’t seem that comfortable either. Was she special?
Whatever the case may be, Rael enjoyed the food with a fork, as did Uriel. Honestly, Rael felt like he might just not have a knack for these kinds of outings. Perhaps he was too antisocial? Hmm…
Right as he thought the dinner would continue this way, Uriel brought up an interesting piece of news.
“I was thinking that maybe it was about time we went back to our normal lives,” Uriel said, pausing for a moment as he glanced down. “I realized that living this kind of ordinary life… There are a lot of things we’re unable to do, which would be much simpler if we had access to mana.”
Rael raised a brow at those words. “So are you finally planning to step out of this normal life and start using mana again?”
“Hm? No.” Uriel shook his head. “I’m only thinking of changing worlds. You know, there are some worlds where you can get mana cores, and even some powers… They’re less free than the universe, but they’re much more fun. I was thinking of creating an avatar alongside Solenne and starting our lives there.”
Rael hummed. “Well, that’s better than a no-mana world. You like swords? Want me to get you a nice sword?”
“Nope,” Uriel said and took a bite out of a chicken wing. “On the contrary, I was wondering if you’d be interested in creating an avatar and joining us.”
“Ah…” Rael thought about it for a moment, then sighed. “Sorry. I don’t have the time for that anymore. But I can promise that I won’t meddle with whatever you’re trying to do there. It’s just that…”
What was a nice way to say this?
Rather, was there really a nice way to say this? He doubted it. Really… really doubted it.
So he decided to just be straightforward with his son.
“Creating avatars and having fun sounds pretty decent, but I can’t help but ask… You two — you’re not planning to have children?”
Both Uriel and Solenne suddenly froze. As for Vatyra, she just let out a chuckle.
“Rael, you keep thinking like a mortal. Their lifespans are unlimited. Let them have their fun before they settle down. I would say you should do the same, but you don’t really have anything left to do, do you?”
Rael let out a sigh. “I guess I don’t. Yeah, I apologize. It kind of slipped my mind. On that note, do you guys want me to find you a reality where you can start from scratch?”
With his current powers, Rael could control every reality, essentially being completely compatible with each one. But it hadn’t always been like that. There were compatibility ratings for every reality, and if Rael had to guess, if he tossed Uriel into some random one, he would lose all of his powers and need to start from scratch.
In that regard, Uriel’s current method was much more suitable for survival… And if Rael went through with his own method, he would need to constantly monitor Uriel’s movements. It would become tiresome.
So with that in mind, Rael decided to just slowly shift the topic away from the obvious pregnancy question and talk about what Vatyra had been up to. From the looks of things, she had either been drinking or sleeping for the two decades he hadn’t seen her.
But on the bright side, she did seem to have grown slightly stronger.
After a few hours of dinner, Rael eventually got past the initial nervousness and simply engaged in normal conversation.
And just like that, the dinner went smoothly.
