Chapter 965 965: Dinner [ 1 ]
Entering their home, Rael felt a little more welcomed than before. Rather, the spice-filled atmosphere from before was nowhere to be seen.
Even Solenne, who narrowed her eyes at him, didn’t seem to contain the same amount of hatred as before. Something definitely shifted, but Rael didn’t know what.
Nonetheless, he didn’t plan to meddle that much, not wanting to change their perception of him any more than they already had. A sweet spot was a sweet spot for a reason.
So of course, Rael decided to take advantage of that fact and sit down at the dinner table. As if on cue, Uriel entered as well and went up to Solenne to explain in more detail what was happening.
As for Rael, he went ahead and changed his form back into his usual one. He was curious, if he set it to automatic and actually didn’t try, what kind of form would he have?
Well… since the couple wasn’t exactly paying much attention to him, Rael decided to give it a quick little try. He let go of his automation, which he didn’t even know he had to begin with.
Then, before he knew it, Rael’s appearance sank into the chair, and then turned into particles. For a brief moment, Rael wasn’t sure what was happening, as in the brief instant that his body turned into nothingness, he felt both everywhere and nowhere at the same time.
He could see Zafira and Lilith. Gaia and Nyx… Renoir? He could even see inside the High Tower. Even inside the Akashic Records. There weren’t many people there, but those that were, were intensely reading.
As if that wasn’t enough, Rael managed to see inside the Abyss too. It wasn’t infinite. It had a limit, and that limit was exactly where the Concepts were staying. Speaking of Concepts, there were so many… Rael hadn’t noticed it before, but this was insane.
Not to mention, from the looks of things, Rael could literally control everything at once. He could even use his mana in every single section of the universe… But explaining what his current form was, was a little bit difficult, since he couldn’t comprehend it in the slightest.
Thinking of looking deeper, Rael glanced into the Spirit Realm, a realm that was forever expanding… Even Yggdrasil. Rael could see everything.
The feeling was intoxicating. It almost made him not want to leave this feeling behind… But then again, he wasn’t exactly in the mood to become some kind of space monster.
A stalker space monster, rather.
So with that in mind, Rael went ahead and restored his form to what it used to be. His form as Rael Sutekh.
And as expected, the feeling of omnipotence vanished the moment he returned back into his body. Glancing around the table, Rael couldn’t help but sigh in exhaustion.
Welp. That’s a fun ability that I’ll have no choice but to use to find those bastards later. Though I can’t say I like it very fucking much… Rael thought.
Finally, Solenne came into the room. Except this time, there was no Uriel. This was how it should’ve been last time too, as the main drama stemmed from their past. A very terrible past that pretty much set all of these issues into place.
What’s funnier was that none of this would’ve ever happened if Renoir had just stepped up and fixed all his shit. But sadly for Rael, if it had been so convenient from the start, he wouldn’t exactly be as powerful as he was now.
Maybe.
“I believe there’s a lot I need to apologize for,” Solenne said plainly. “I was looking to expand my army, and you just happened to be unlucky enough to cross my path.”
Rael shrugged. “No worries. It’s all business.”
“Right. It’s indeed all business, so I don’t get why you’re so adamant about hating me,” Solenne added.
“If you killed my family and claimed it was business, do you think I’d just ignore it? There are some things I understand, but that doesn’t make those things any less fucked up. So for future reference, just know that what you did was unacceptable. I accept it now because you’re a part of Uriel’s life. A very big part of it,” Rael said, then added:
“So I accept your apology. I also hope you accept mine, so we can move on from this.”
With that, the two of them just stared at each other for a few moments, clearly feeling like there was still something missing. But then again, this was a start. Solenne never really expected herself to end up being betrothed to her arch nemesis’s child…
If anything, she thought she might come back to Adam. But there were no feelings left for Adam. She had made sure of that when she paid him a visit as a friend, and then restored the life of a certain someone, allowing the two friends to be reunited once more.
She was a terrible person in the past… But even more so, she was someone who lacked empathy. Uriel’s help really did set her on the right path, and she was still working on figuring it out.
So if that meant being a bit nicer to her father-in-law, she might as well go for it.
Rael, on the other hand, wasn’t that sentimental. He just wanted to get this over with, since after so many years… His grudges weren’t as profound as they were in the past. So just like that, the two of them set aside both of their differences and decided to start anew.
Now the only thing left was to repair his relationship with Uriel. That might be a lot harder, but oh well, it wasn’t like Rael was planning to disappear again. He wanted to actually be there for the people he cared about.
After all… At this point in his life, he should actually start to consider having kids. Zafira and Lilith might be up for it.
Letting out a sigh, Rael leaned back and turned toward Uriel, who finally approached the dinner table, holding a tray with a full marinated chicken on it.
