“What’s up?” Nyx asked, adjusting her make-shift glasses.
“It’s nothing serious… I was just curious about something. Did you manage to get a lock on Lucien’s location?” Rael replied.
She shook her head.
“No. He’s hiding somewhere. I checked the Mirror Realm too, and even the Void Realm. Wherever he is, it’s impossible for me to spot him.”
That told him a lot, considering just the extent that her powers could go to. After all, Nyx could literally enter the dreams of anyone in the universe, so long as they have slept.
Or so that was what she had told him. In reality, she could practically enter the mind of any being who exists. That was because at some point in their life, they had slept, and she could cling to that dream, no matter how long ago it was.
So for Lucien to not be spotted despite all that… it meant there was something amiss.
“Let me worry about finding him for now. As for you, just focus on Solenne. She’s been very active as of late, and she’s been leading sieges onto the worlds I’ve mentioned. Rather… she’s about to.”
Rael narrowed his eyes.
“I see. Well, in that case, I’ll start getting ready.”
With those words, Rael reached into his status screen and quickly began using the automation skill. Since he had already made a construct inside the Mirror Realm and forced it to be invisible, then with his automation, all he had to do was will that exact same thing to happen.
And so, the moment he did so, Rael began spawning millions of constructs per second inside the Mirror Realm. He was a bit scared of just how crowded the Mirror Realm would look if he were to enter it, and for that reason, he decided against it.
Instead, Rael took a deep breath and then smiled at Nyx.
“I honestly want to end this war really fast.”
Nyx tilted her head slightly, confused by his statement.
“Don’t we all? It’s just that the people we’re fighting won’t make it easy. Even with Gaia and the Supreme Beast… it’s tricky.”
Rael nodded.
“Yeah. But it just started way too fast, in my opinion. Zafira’s not ready. Lilith isn’t either. I want to spend more time with them…”
Hearing that, Nyx paused for a moment.
“You know, I’ve noticed it before, but why are you constantly talking about the future as if you’re not in it?”
Before Rael could reply, Nyx added:
“Did you look into the future? I can’t see it in your mind… What did you do, Rael?”
He just stood there, not saying anything.
There was a reason why he began doing all of this… making it up to his former friends, hanging out with people more…
But he couldn’t tell anyone.
Otherwise, it wouldn’t be the same.
“Don’t worry about it, Nyx. Let’s go get some food, yeah?” Rael said, and turned around.
The moment he did, Nyx grabbed his arm and pulled on his sleeve. Since she had much more strength than him, she managed to push him down onto the sofa, and as she towered over him, she glared at him.
“Tell me.”
“No.”
“If you don’t tell me, then I’m going to break off our contract.”
Rael let out a sigh.
“Then break the contract.”
Her brow twitched, and without thinking, she raised her hand and suddenly brought it down onto Rael’s cheek, slapping him fiercely.
Rael could’ve easily avoided the attack, but he didn’t. Honestly… he wasn’t sure what kind of person Nyx was, but amongst many other things, he considered her to be very caring.
So to see him being so secretive and reckless whilst being completely in the dark… she couldn’t take it.
“You know I can’t feel pain, nor can I die, right?” Rael said.
“But me constantly hitting you will make you grow tired, won’t it?” Nyx stated, then raised her hand again. “I don’t like doing this, but I will be forced to if you—”
Before she could finish her words, Rael grabbed Nyx by her waist and tossed her over him, causing her to crash into the wall and shake the whole mansion. The mansion thankfully didn’t topple, since he made sure to hold back.
However, once she got back on her feet and glared at him, Rael knew that she was mad.
Yet just then, Gaia stepped inside the room and tilted her head.
“I thought we were going to eat? Why are the two of you fighting here?”
Rael just stared at Nyx, knowing full well that if she were to snitch on him, it’d be bad.
But instead, Nyx just grumbled to herself and slowly walked into the kitchen, leaving only Gaia and Rael behind.
He was still on the sofa, and as for Gaia, she just stared down at him with a slightly puzzled look.
“You’ve got some odd sense of foreplay, if tossing around and being slapped by women is your way of getting turned on.”
Rael rolled his eyes.
“If you really did look at my memories, then you should know what gets me turned on. Despite you acting so high and mighty, I can’t help but feel like deep down, you’re just a pervert,” Rael replied, then stood up.
Gaia scoffed.
“I’m not a pervert. But yes, I did do some research, and I was a little amused. Anyways… I don’t want to ruin our food, so come over here. I’ll go call the others too.”
By the others, she likely meant Uriel and the others in the theater room. There were a lot of them there, but obviously, Rael didn’t have an issue calling them here, since he could always just buy a banquet table filled to the brim with food.
Rael coughed to himself and then finally nodded at her.
“Alright. Go invite the others. I’ll prepare some delicious food and introduce Renoir to the others once they’re here. Oh… and whatever you overheard just now, forget it.”
Gaia paused for a moment, a slight smile appearing on her face.
“If you say so.”
