Chapter 805 805: Purpose
Nyx, I know you’re not working, so get your ass here, Rael said.
He waited for a few seconds, and finally, Nyx’s voice resounded inside his head.
[Tsk… What’s up?]
Read my mind. I’m too lazy to explain.
[Hmm? Alright. Give me a sec,] Nyx replied.
She remained silent for a few moments until finally…
[Ah. Can’t you just tell her to switch her revenge to another target? I don’t know.]
Wow.
She was most likely the most helpful person Rael had met in his gazillion years of life.
Are you serious?
[No, of course not. Just tell her the opposite of what she wants to hear. You’re not her father, since she just killed hers a few minutes ago,] Nyx said. [What I mean is, just tell her that she’s old enough to make her own decisions. No, you know what…]
In the end, Nyx chose to appear herself and face Linlin. She was a little confused at the appearance of a random woman, but even so…
“Hey there, lass. I’m Nyx, and some may call me the messenger of love, while others call me Nyx.”
Was she stupid?
“Anyhow… I came out to tell you that you won’t get the same high as what you had just now. You’ve been chasing it all your life, after all.”
“Instead, focus on just living as an ordinary person. You might not think it’s special, but imagine stepping back and living in luxury. Get a husband, start a family… I don’t really know. I can’t say I’ve ever experienced such a feeling, but you now have an opportunity to do so.”
She pointed at Rael.
“In a few months, maybe years, a war will break out. It will be on a universal scale, but this world is perhaps the safest and also the most dangerous spot in the universe.”
“After all… There are many beings who protect this world, including myself. So yeah. Now’s as good a time as ever to relax and do whatever your heart wants. Heck, listen to your little sister. I’m sure she has a broader perspective than you.”
There were insults, advice, and even some teasing. In the end, Nyx was just saying whatever came to the top of her head, and while Rael agreed and disagreed with some of her advice, he respected her for taking his place and saying everything.
And so, when she was finally finished with her lecture, Nyx just stood there awkwardly, waiting for Linlin to say something.
“Honestly… I don’t think I like the peaceful life. Also, seeing you two on a level that defies the universe seems pretty interesting. I know it would take me a while, but—”
“Nope~ Sister and I are going to live a relaxed life. She’s just going through some stupid stuff at the moment, so ignore her,” Qiqi interjected.
Linlin’s brow twitched, and she immediately tried to bonk Qiqi over the head.
However, Qiqi dodged effortlessly and then hid behind the rest of her group.
“Dear, I believe you should listen to your little sister this time,” Sophia said. “I, for one, don’t want you running around the universe chasing powerful enemies and getting senselessly stronger just for the sake of getting stronger.”
Basically, it was one of those dilemmas where one party wanted one thing while the others wanted another.
Obviously, it was Linlin’s life, and she could do whatever she wanted. But then again, everyone here knew that her decision-making was being influenced by the death of her father a few minutes ago.
No matter which way one looked at it, it was clear that she would choose something destructive instead of something smart.
So no one really paid her any mind and instead began scolding her.
Rael and Nyx eventually stepped back, and as he stared at the Radiant Dawn group from afar, he felt a bit of happiness well up in his chest.
“So how is it, spectator?” Nyx asked with a chuckle.
“…”
Spectator…
“You just ruined my mood.”
“My bad. I couldn’t help myself,” Nyx said. “On the flip side, though, you only have Aria or so remaining on your bucket list. How do you plan on getting along with her? Dinner?”
“Of course not.”
Rael let out a sigh and then thought about it for a moment.
The first time he brought Aria back to Celestara, her only goal was to become his secretary.
In a way, Rael failed her, made her do all the work in Celestara, and eventually ditched her completely.
She had to take over her father’s side of Yrgon, and she also had the work of Celestara that Zafira had entrusted to her.
Naturally, Anastasia took some load off her, but not enough to completely let her relax.
The obvious solution would just be to summon a bunch more constructs that could take over the workload, but Rael had a feeling that it wouldn’t exactly please her.
If anything, she would call him a lazy bum and scream at him.
He wronged way too many people.
Letting out another sigh, Rael sat down on the ice and leaned against the ice tower.
Nyx sat down beside him and crossed her legs. She stared at the group as well, then let out another chuckle.
“To be honest, I believe the peaceful life doesn’t suit you either. Also, I might not be a fate dragon or a fate deity or whatever, but I have a feeling that the only way this war will end will be with your death.”
Rael turned toward her and furrowed his brows.
“What are you talking about?”
She tilted her head slightly.
“Think about it. The whole universe is against you. Even on the lucky end, you’ll just barely be able to keep those you love. As for what happens to you… I’m old enough to say that enemies of the universe aren’t known for avoiding calamities.”
Basically, she was just tossing death flags at him.
But since Rael had been a walking red flag since the moment he appeared in the rat den piece of shit dungeon, he couldn’t care less about the death flags.
“Haha…”
“I guess we’ll just have to see, won’t we?”
Rael turned back to Linlin and whistled at her, getting her attention.
“Do you want to see something cool? It’s a city I’ve started working on. You could be one of its first residents.”
