Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster

Chapter 786: Drunk Acquaintance

Capítulo 786: Drunk Acquaintance

“Me? Well… It would be a lie if I told you everything’s been well. If anything, life’s been tossing shit at me for a while now,” Rael replied plainly.

“It feels like the more powerful you become, the more enemies you gain. I never really asked for any of this. All I wanted from the very start was just to live peacefully with my wife, or wives, in Celestara.”

Had that bitch Solenne not come along, that would still be his life.

A warm life.

A life full of nothing but happiness.

Now that life was long gone, and he doubted he would ever gain back what he lost.

He could already tell that much just from the brief couple of exchanges with someone whose life he practically gave a purpose to.

“I see… I guess we both went through a lot, then,” Evelyn said.

She reached for one of the bottles on the table, and to Rael’s genuine surprise, it was the strongest bottle of the bunch, containing nearly 100% alcohol.

Yet Evelyn didn’t even budge an eye as she bit off the cap and then downed the whole bottle in less than a second before slamming it down onto the table.

“Y’know… I’ve been thinking about you a little bit,” Evelyn said, slurring her words slightly.

“You’ve always struck me as someone who knew way too much about people. But did you really know them?”

She grabbed yet another bottle and uncorked it with her teeth, then pointed it at Rael.

“It’s like you’re a spectator. You approached me, and without getting to know me at all, you just dump that shit on me. Did you ever even consider how confused that would make someone?”

Before Rael could reply, she downed the whole bottle. Her cheeks quickly flushed, but not only that, her expression turned more hateful.

“I was confused and scared. Just imagine someone you don’t know somehow knows every detail of your life. Were you even trying to be subtle, you prick?”

Rael just took the words like a champ, but in reality, he was affected by them.

He was expecting a calm and relaxed talk.

Instead, Evelyn got drunk and began sharing her real thoughts.

How did he know they were real?

Well… The moment she took her first sip, not a single lie came out of her mouth.

A spectator…

Was he really like that?

[You were,] Nyx chimed in.

Her tone was oddly serious.

[Gaia’s not here and she knows more, but from what little I can see, you always approach people as if you’ve been friends with them for ages. I, personally, don’t mind it much. But the majority of normal people find it unsettling. You’re like a friendly stalker.]

“…”

Well, shit.

“But you know what? Even if I didn’t like all the things you’ve done, because of you, I was able to get where I am now. Obviously, it was a pain in the ass since, for some reason, the world outside this one doesn’t really believe in hand-outs, if you know what I mean.”

Evelyn cackled slightly and reached for another bottle.

But before she could grab it, Rael whisked it away.

To her surprise, though, Rael uncorked the alcohol and drank it whole.

However, despite how strong this was, when it entered his throat, it had already turned into nothing but water.

This body…

Without meaning to, Rael accidentally crushed the bottle in his hand, causing several shards to fly out everywhere.

Evelyn was startled for a moment.

But that moment quickly backtracked as the shards slowly began heading back into the bottle, and ultimately, Rael found himself holding the bottle just a moment after whisking it away from Evelyn.

Turning back time wasn’t an issue.

But him giving up his humanity and dealing with something so stupid… He didn’t like it one bit.

“That’s enough drinking, Evelyn. I think you ought to rest a bit, don’t you?”

She gave him the middle finger.

“Rest? Hahaha. Do you know the last time I rested? Because I don’t remember. Now then, princess, if you will, give me that bottle, or I’ll take it from you.”

[She kind of reminds me of me, not gonna lie,] Nyx chimed in.

Then do you want to step in and scold this troublemaker? Rael asked.

[As if. Good luck dealing with your own problems. What’s the saying? You reap what you sow. Or something… I’ll be using your Premium Shop to buy myself some things. See ya.]

Before Rael could stop her, Nyx broke the temporary contact they had, and for a moment, he was reminded of Burger.

The resident that lived rent free in his head and kept buying stupid shit, thus wasting his money.

But Nyx might be a little more responsible, especially since she was old—

“…”

You fucking snake! Come out, now!

[What? Oh? You can see that?] Nyx said groggily.

[Chill. I just misclicked. I promise it won’t happen again.]

With that, Nyx once again disappeared.

Rael didn’t trust her one bit.

But even so, he turned back to Evelyn and smiled slightly.

“I’m afraid getting it through force might not really work for you. Though, I’d love to pour you a cup if you answer a few of my questions honestly.”

“Haaa? Do you think this is some confession booth? Fuck off.”

A simple ‘No’ would’ve probably worked.

But then again, Rael was used to dealing with troublesome women.

After all, he was sure he had built up an immunity to women’s bullshit by now—
