Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster

Chapter 525: Rats And Stats

Chapter 525: Rats And Stats

Rael slowly opened his eyes and found himself lying on the ground in a massive cave.

There was a large stalactite in the distance, and a few rat corpses scattered around, each with its head crushed.

A wave of nostalgia hit him. This was the exact same dungeon he had first appeared in when he arrived in this world.

A faint chuckle of disbelief left his lips as he stood up and dusted himself off. He felt slightly taller, and his body was more defined, but more importantly…

“You know, I had imagined rats would be tastier,” Vatyra spoke from the side.

She was gobbling down a burnt rat with a sour expression. When she realized he was staring at her, she tossed the rat aside and harrumphed at him.

Rael smiled slightly. “Did you bring me here on purpose?”

“It was Gaia’s idea,” Vatyra replied. “She said something about you liking familiarity, so I went ahead and picked some low-level dungeon for you. Hope you don’t mind.”

“Not at all.” Rael shook his head. “Actually… thank you for this. It’s just what I needed.”

“Hm? Don’t thank me, thank Gaia.” Vatyra rolled her eyes. “Plus, after that stunt you just pulled… I’m starting to think you’re the grandchild of Karma herself.”

“No clue what that means,” Rael said.

Vatyra met his gaze. “I’m just saying you’re very lucky. You just so happened to have a skill that would let you defeat a being such as Solenne’s shadow, and more so, you just so happened to come at a time when Solenne is away. I mean, seriously… it’s just too much.”

“Well, when things go my way, I just call it fate nowadays,” Rael replied, his voice lowering as he glanced below himself.

“Do you plan on coming out?”

The moment he said those words, Anna appeared beside him, her figure the same as before, only this time, her hair was platinum, the same as his.

“Apologies. I do not usually come out unless called for. What is the matter?” Anna asked.

Rael shook his head. “Drop the stiff tone for starters. And… well, you can come out whenever you want, but tell me first. Got that?”

If he wanted to build a rapport with the shadow, he might as well do something this simple.

And thankfully, it seemed like Anna understood.

“I cannot drop the stiff tone as I do not have emotions, especially after you absorbed me,” she said. “However, I will let you know whenever I want to come out from here on out.”

“Great…” Rael trailed off, narrowing his eyes. “So how was it? Pressing the button, I mean.”

Anna tilted her head. “I did not feel anything. It did look colorful for a few moments, but then it turned dark and gruesome.”

“I see…” Rael replied, rubbing his temples. “Gaia, I know I’ve been bothering you a bunch lately, but could you help Anna? I want her to at least feel some emotions so she’s not a lifeless shadow.”

[That’s very heroic of you… but it’s a bit broad. What kind of emotion do you want me to help her feel?] Gaia asked.

“Whichever comes first, I guess,” Rael replied. “It doesn’t really matter.”

[Hmm… okay,] Gaia replied, when all of a sudden, the Angel Egg appeared in his hands, startling him.

[I kept it safe, and it should hatch any minute now. No more delaying,] Gaia said sternly. [Now, as for Anna. You can hear me, right? Enter the Mind Realm.]

Anna didn’t move, prompting him to let out a sigh.

“Anna, listen to Gaia. You can follow her orders just as you follow mine. Alright?”

“If you say so.” Anna nodded and abruptly sank into his shadow.

A moment later, Gaia gave him the confirmation.

[She’s here. I’ll talk to you later about Divinity and other stuff… call me if it’s an emergency though.]

And with that, Gaia went to work. As for Rael, he stared at the Angel Egg expectantly.

“So what, are you going to become a father now?” Vatyra asked with a raised brow.

“I hope not…” Rael gulped. “I really don’t know how I’ll explain to Zafira that some angel calling me papa is just a coincidence.”

“I’m sure she’ll trust you,” Vatyra said. “You don’t seem like one who would lie about such things… though that’s just my thought. For all I know, you’re a baby dragon who hooks up with every woman that crosses his path.”

Rael scoffed at her reply, and to ease his nervousness, he decided to check his status screen, something he hadn’t done in a while.

Hmm… I really can’t increase my stats until I reach the next Grade, huh? Rael thought with a slight frown, but he knew that at this point, jumping Grades was a cakewalk.

All he needed to do was hop into a Grade 1 or 2 dungeon, clear it, and he would have enough experience to ascend.

I’ll have to do that soon, but for starters, there are two things I need to make sure of…

The first…

Rael glanced around and eventually spotted Chop-E hunting stray rats by throwing his sword at them, just as Rael had done at the start.

I didn’t forget him this time… that’s comforting, Rael thought, relieved.

And then, there was this:
