Chapter 502 - Capítulo 502: Root of the Ultimatum
Capítulo 502: Root of the Ultimatum
There was an army of angels, demons, and even beings whose forms he could barely make out. The majority weren’t a part of the Blazing Sun faction, so Rael could guess that these were all the people who had been pissed off by the Void Realm.
More importantly, in the front of it all was a being he knew very well, Solenne.
She seemed slightly different this time around. She had one pair of angelic wings, a single pair of demonic wings, and a bright white crown atop her head.
For the first time, he had actually seen her face. Not the child-like Solenne, nor the faceless one. The real one.
Still… She’s basically the spitting image of the Solenne I fought in the Dralgur Continent. This one’s just a little more mature..
Basically, she was a certified loli.
But aside from that, the scar glowed whenever her gaze landed on the Rael who floated through space. If he had to guess, then he was the one responsible for inflicting such an injury on her.
Go future me. Rael smiled slightly, then glanced at the person beside Solenne.
It was Lucien, adorned in a golden armor set. Beside him were the Five Seats, excluding Jashin Arterios, the Fifth Seat himself. Roger was also not there.
But from how much Lucien was sucking up to Solenne, Rael could guess that this guy ratted everyone out and joined her.
“So this time I managed to see the future, huh?” Rael muttered to himself. “So if I take him along, he’ll betray the Void Realm and join Solenne. If I kill him, I might become Kareth’s enemy…”
Either way, as Rael looked down on himself, it seemed like it didn’t matter. In this outcome, he was completely alone. Zafira wasn’t there. Lilith wasn’t there. Burger, Gaia, and everyone else were gone.
So even if I don’t kill him, I won’t get the Void Realm’s help in the fight, huh? Looks like that the Primordial Signia isn’t very effective either. I guess by this point, I would’ve already been too far gone, Rael thought.
He tried approaching himself, but he wasn’t able to. There was a barrier in place, and he could only watch as Solenne and the others neared him.
But right as the future Rael got back up and prepared to fight, the vision cut off, covering the entire space in darkness.
The vision ended then and there, but Rael was still in the Prophetic Realm, so because of that, he decided to try a few tests.
He could view the past and the present, but until now, he hadn’t been able to view the future. But since the opportunity had just presented itself, and the feeling was fresh, Rael focused his intent on viewing the future.
And as expected, coupled with a high Dragon Force cost, he was actually able to see ahead. Not by a lot, only a single week from the current moment.
He wound the time back slowly, focusing on his interaction with Lucien.
For some reason, after their conversation was finished, Rael simply left.
I would never just leave abruptly. Even if he gave me some kind of sob story, there’s no way that I—
The vision flashed, and this time, instead of leaving, Rael stayed behind, chatting with Lucien.
It lasted hours, but since the Prophetic Realm was similar to the Mind Realm, time passed slower. Plus, after spending over 70 years stuck in time, his patience definitely leveled up enough to waste time.
Rael sighed. Though it kind of sucks I can’t hear anything. I should really learn how to read lips.
But thankfully, he had a guardian angel.
[You two talked about Kareth,] Gaia chimed in. [Lucien feels betrayed by Kareth, especially after Kareth sealed him when he was a child. Apparently, it was all over a misunderstanding.]
“Oh?” Rael tilted his head. “What kind of misunderstanding?”
[He didn’t say. He kept dodging the question while manipulating your memories so you’d forget it. Burger and I can help with that, but I know what you’re thinking… No, you’re not immune,] Gaia said flatly. [And yes… Reading lips is not the only thing I can do.]
“I see…” Rael grumbled, letting out a sigh. “So he trauma dumps, controls my memories, and sends me out. After that, he escapes, joins Solenne, betrays the Void Realm, and we all die. Sounds just perfect.”
Momentarily looking away, he glanced up, almost as if Gaia was there.
“I feel like I have to ask… But if you were in my shoes, what would you do?”
[Me? Are you sure you want my input?] Gaia asked, uncertain.
Rael rolled his eyes. “Of course I do. Speak your mind.”
After a brief moment of silence, Gaia spoke:
[Well… Normally, I would spare him with a threat. But given what you saw a moment ago, I don’t think that’s a good idea,] she remarked. [So, if I were to use your methods, then maybe I would break his mind and then rewrite it? You have the skill Seed of Fear, so it’s definitely possible.]
“Hmm…” Rael fell into thought, then shook his head. “Maybe it is, but he can manipulate memories. The odds of him not breaking are very high. Also, not to sound like a pussy or anything, but I’m pretty sure if we took the fight to the Mind Realm, he would beat me effortlessly.”
Of course, that wasn’t the case while they were outside. Now, Rael had his Full Dragon transformation, so his stats were boosted by a large amount, giving him an advantage over Lucien.
But alas, Rael continued skimming through the many visions, and thankfully, every time he switched visions, the cost for maintaining them lessened. He had the Law of Growth to thank for that.
Nonetheless, every vision gave him the same result.
In the end, Lucien always escaped somehow. But when Rael thought of killing him, the scenario changed entirely.
When he went for an attack, Vatyra stepped in, stopping him. No matter how many times he tried or how many skills, laws, or even Premium Perks he used, Vatyra was able to counter everything.
In a few of the visions, she even went as far as to snap his neck, making him use the Gluttony skill to revive.
And only now did Rael realize what Evelyn’s words meant.
She mentioned two choices.
Help Lucien.
Kill Lucien.
As it stood, Evelyn labeled it as Rael being the only person who could do something about it. But despite that, he felt helpless.
But then, he glanced at his Fate Affinity, especially at the bottom part:
[By synchronizing your Dragon Heart with Fate, you gain the ability to glimpse into the future, past, and present, as well as gently alter probabilities.]
Probabilities… Rael put a hand over his chin. What if I manipulate the probability of him meeting Solenne, and instead make it so he meets someone else entirely?
Rael was once again brimming with ideas, and because of that, he decided to test out the probability manipulation.
