Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster

Chapter 393: Laws

Chapter 393: Laws

“You can move…?” Mathieu mumbled.

But since he gave Rael that tiny window of opportunity, he didn’t hesitate to deliver a kick straight at Mathieu’s stunned face, crushing it in an instant.

-99%! Critical Hit!

That was when Rael decided to try something out.

Rael’s eyes widened. Seriously?

Time once again paused as Mathieu began fixing himself, but in the meantime, Rael noticed that he was no longer moving backward, almost as if time wasn’t affecting him anymore.

And when Mathieu finally returned, he stared at Rael warily.

“Who are you?” Mathieu asked coldly. “You don’t even know what Laws are, so how could you resist one of them?”

Rael dusted himself off and tilted his head. “You mean like the Law of Death, Law of Space… stuff like that?”

Mathieu’s brows twitched. “That is… Yes. However, if you know about them, why haven’t you comprehended even a single one? Staring at you reminds me of my younger days when I chased after ascensions. I ascended as a Grade 1 Commander Class, then went on to ascend as a Grade 2 Leader Class. It seems like a considerable upgrade, right?”

Not really, Rael thought with a smile, but he didn’t voice it out loud.

After all, a man so willing to share valuable information for free was a rare opportunity.

He might even let some valuable information slip.

“Nevertheless, once I reached Grade 2, I hit a wall,” Mathieu continued, his expression darkening. “My peers began slowly learning special techniques, all the while I was out killing monsters, raising my experience and preparing to ascend again.”

“But one day, the dungeon I had entered evolved while I was inside. The power of the monsters increased severalfold, and even killing one monster took me weeks. I thought I was going to die,” Mathieu said, his voice lowering.

“However… when I had given up all hope, time froze, yet my vision remained. I can still remember the slow footsteps as a being walked out of the shadows, then he effortlessly slayed all the monsters I struggled to kill.”

Mathieu clenched his fist, drawing blood. “And better yet… that overwhelming being was a kid. He was no older than 15 at the time, and yet his power was simply unfathomable. I tried to talk with him, but he didn’t say a word. He didn’t even look at me as he left the dungeon.”

“Hmm… I see…” Rael nodded. “Seems like you got your ass handed to you. Let me guess, that was the event that made you take a step back and re-evaluate all your choices?”

Mathieu raised a brow, then let out a chuckle. “Yes. That is correct. After that encounter, I began following in the steps of that child. I started comprehending the Law of Time, and I also took a step back from leveling up. I’ve spent nearly 750 years at Grade 2, and soon, I will ascend as an Apocalypse Class.”

With that announcement, he finally fell silent, a proud look on his face.

800 years, huh? Rael sighed. I guess since he has such a long lifespan, he doesn’t care about the time he wasted. Or maybe… he didn’t really waste it since he’s going to ascend as an Apocalypse Class.

Anyhow, Rael was both impressed and curious.

After all, for a 15-year-old boy to easily kill high-grade monsters was definitely surprising. And then there was the time control that Mathieu had mentioned.

Rael fell into thought for a moment, then met Mathieu’s gaze and spoke.

“Hey, is there a Law of Money?”

Mathieu’s brow twitched. “There is no Law of Money. How could there even be such a law?”

“Well… you know, like a third party that controls a universal currency…? Isn’t that possible?” Rael asked.

“Huh? It’s not impossible, but what’s the point?” Mathieu replied, confused. “We already have a universal currency called Trell. It’s a currency that just exists without a law, so what use is there for another?”

“Ah, never mind then,” Rael said, a grin appearing on his face. “But if one were to create a Law, how would they go about it?”

Mathieu approached Rael, then placed a hand on his shoulder, patting it twice.

“I have no clue. However, I do have good news for you,” Mathieu said. “The spar had made me realize your true value to the Blazing Sun faction, so after we get back, I will commend you. You will gain an audience with one of the higher-ups, and you will be able to make any request. Obviously, the request must be within reason.”

Higher-ups?

“Will I be meeting the Goddess?” Rael asked.

Mathieu shook his head. “Not for something as simple as this, no. You will, however, be meeting the person in charge of the Blazing Sun Knight Brigade. He’s a man who could even rival the Five Seats.”

“I see…” Rael mumbled. “Maybe a promotion too?”

“You need to clear 5 more missions to get a promotion. Don’t push it,” Mathieu replied coldly.

He opened his mouth, preparing to say something. However, they suddenly noticed eight people fly up from the sidelines, all of them clearly injured, but it wasn’t as severe as Rael had been expecting.

Of course, they were none other than the members of the Starlight Division. They looked incredibly relieved, but also surprised.

Frederick approached with a smile, stopping before Rael and Mathieu.

“You guys… this mission took less than an hour,” Frederick said, his voice trembling in excitement. “I have to thank you, Aster. If not for your contributions, either we all would’ve been killed or spent the next few months mustering up the courage to enter the spire.”

Did Mathieu do something to him? I’d expect him to get a thanks as well.

“Haha…” Rael scratched his cheek. “Don’t mention it. It wasn’t really that hard.”

After all, if all missions were on this level, he could most likely clear them with close to no effort.

The only thing I need to do is prepare for the unpredictable, and uh… yeah, that’s about it.

And of course, if possible, he would look into learning a law, or maybe…

Oh? There are grades to this too? Also… it’s so expensive. I won’t be able to buy it while I’m in Solenne’s domain, Rael thought, grumbling.

Even so, he turned back to Frederick, who was chatting up his division, completely ignoring Rael and Mathieu yet again.

And after just a few minutes, Frederick snapped out of his chatter and began acting as the captain again.

“Mathieu, did you implant the crystal?”

“Yes. The machines have been disabled,” Mathieu replied immediately. “The mission is over, Captain. We need to get back to base and report.”

Frederick rolled his eyes. “I know that. Sorry, I was just a little excited earlier.”

He glanced at each of his division members with a proud smile, then walked over to the edge of the spire’s top, peeking his head out of the barrier.

A cone-shaped gap had formed in the clouds, and it seemed like without meaning to, Rael had once again shown off.

Frederick whistled in surprise, and then pointed downward in the direction they had come from.

“The portal should still be there. Let’s head back and get a drink, shall we?”

He turned around slowly, a massive smirk on his face.

“Since this is the first mission in a while where none of us have died… I’m paying.”
