Chapter 3568: Medusa (34)
Chapter 3568: Medusa (34)
Ning Shu felt Zeus was trying to run a game on her. In his dreams!
Ning Shu smiled at him. “You’re the king of the gods. I’d be embarrassed to make you live such a hard life with me. Besides, there are no people on this island, no masses to worship you, and no gods to submit to you. It would be far too much of a grievance for you.”
Zeus said, “The king of the gods has his own hardships. I am willing. Just release me first.”
Ning Shu reached out and flicked the boundary. The water inside immediately surged, and Zeus’s body began to tumble uncontrollably. It was like being in a front-load washing machine, a world-spinning experience that almost made him vomit.
Zeus: …
Ning Shu placed her hand on the boundary, and the water instantly calmed down. Zeus spat out a mouthful of water and stared at her. “What do you mean by this?”
“I agree to live with you.” Ning Shu kept her hands behind her back. Her smile was bright, like a flower. With her hair fluttering in the sea breeze, she truly looked like a beautiful young lady.
Zeus looked at her face and was dazed for a moment, but he quickly snapped out of it. “If you agree, why won’t you let me out?”
Ning Shu wore a tiny smile as she said, “Let’s just live like this. It’ll be a grievance for you to stay inside, but it allows me to see the king of the gods’ handsome face every day.”
Zeus’s face twitched. He was suddenly consumed with rage. “You’re playing with me!”
Ning Shu waved her hand. “Don’t worry. As long as I have a bite to eat, you’ll have a bite too.”
Zeus: …
Ning Shu found some broad leaves to spread on the sand and lay down to rest. The bird spread its wings to shield her from the sun.
However, its wings were covered in flames. By standing so close, it practically toasted Ning Shu’s hair into curls.
Ning Shu: …
“Go play somewhere else,” Ning Shu said flatly.
Ning Shu closed her eyes to sleep. Beside her, Zeus watched her silently. What kind of situation was this? He was Zeus, yet he was being held prisoner. If word got out, where would he hide his face?
That wasn’t even the most terrifying part. The real horror was whether this woman would kill him. She had killed Athena and Poseidon without a second thought. She was clearly a cold-blooded, ruthless person.
Zeus only hoped his status as king of the gods would make her hesitate to act.
After Ning Shu woke up, she stretched and took out the goatskin parchment, brushes, and ink. She began to draw talismans—invisibility talismans, stun talismans, and all sorts of others.
She also made talismans to ward off calamities. She had the faith halo, but Medusa didn’t. If she could use talismans to block curses, it would be a huge help.
“Try cursing me,” Ning Shu said to Zeus.
Zeus: …
Zeus ignored her. His mind was on high alert. No one ever asked someone else to curse them. She was insane!
Since Zeus ignored her, Ning Shu stirred the water in the boundary into a frenzy. The boundary wasn’t large, just enough for Zeus to stand in. Zeus, who was caught off guard, swallowed a mouthful of water and nearly choked to death.
Zeus’s expression was incredibly ugly. “If you have the ability, then kill me.”
“Just curse me,” Ning Shu told him.
‘Insane,’ Zeus cursed her in his heart. Seeing Ning Shu staring at him like a predator, he had no choice but to throw out a random curse. He muttered a chant to turn Ning Shu into a little white rabbit.
The only way to break the curse was to release him.
Ning Shu: …
A cloud of black smoke from the curse flew toward Ning Shu. She held a talisman between her fingers.
“Activate!”
The talisman flew toward the black smoke. The smoke swirled around the paper, which slowly turned black and lost its power. The black smoke was mostly absorbed by the paper.
Ning Shu scratched her head. It seemed the power of these talismans still needed to be strengthened. This was just a common divine curse. If it were a truly terrifying curse, this talisman definitely wouldn’t hold.
It looked like she needed to make more improvements. Since a curse was a form of energy, energy had a breaking point and could be overcome.
Ning Shu kept drawing with her magical pen. Zeus, stuck in the boundary, looked completely speechless. This girl had actually blocked a curse.
Once Ning Shu finished the next talisman, she wanted to see if it worked. She said to Zeus, “Curse me again.”
Zeus closed his eyes. He didn’t even want to look at her. Curses weren’t something you could just toss out whenever you felt like it. Divine punishment required a price. Since he was trapped here, every bit of power he used was power he couldn’t get back.
“Don’t push your luck,” Zeus said coldly. His noble air as king of the gods was still present. Even as a prisoner, he was an incredibly proud king.
Ning Shu didn’t care about his gaze at all. She said, “If you curse me, it might make you feel better.”
Cursing could vent one’s frustrations, especially since these curses could actually come true. It was a great deal!
Zeus: …
This woman was a lunatic.
But Zeus was smart. He could clearly tell he was being used as a lab rat. She was testing the power of her talismans, which were clearly meant to resist divine punishment.
This was not a good thing. If every human had a talisman like this, divine punishment would no longer be a threat or a deterrent to humanity.
Zeus stared at Ning Shu. “Who exactly are you?”
Ning Shu replied, “I told you to curse me. What are you prattling on for? Hurry up and curse me. Come on!”
Zeus: Lunatic!
Zeus ignored her. He was the king of the gods. He didn’t just do whatever people told him to do.
Seeing Zeus’s stubbornness, Ning Shu pointed a finger. The water in the boundary began to slowly freeze. The effect of freezing compressed water was enough to make anyone swear.
Zeus felt his body go numb. The cold felt like needles stabbing into his muscles. Even with a divine body, he still felt the freezing chill.
Zeus exhaled a cloud of white mist. His face was blue with cold and his nose was bright red. His teeth chattered as he said, “Don’t take this too far. Enough is enough. If you push things too much, there will be no way to fix the situation.”
Ning Shu shrugged and said indifferently, “Even if I don’t take things too far, if I let you go now, would you let me go?”
Zeus remained silent. His pride truly wouldn’t allow him to let this woman go.
She didn’t care about his status or his strength. Was there nothing she wanted? She didn’t care about status, and she had her own strength. One was strongest when one had no desires. He couldn’t find anything to use as a bargaining chip.
“Curse me,” Ning Shu said. She had her hands on her hips as she faced Zeus.
Zeus had no choice. While exhaling white mist, he cursed Ning Shu. This time, he cursed her to live alone until she died as a hideous old hag.
The black smoke of the curse drifted toward Ning Shu. This smoke was very thick. It seemed Zeus was truly angry this time and had paid a higher price, as evidenced by the density of the smoke.
Ning Shu threw the talisman toward the smoke. The paper flashed with a golden light. Under the radiance, the black mist slowly dissipated. However, the talisman eventually turned into a piece of black paper—its effect exhausted.
