“Ask who?” Ning Shu’s face was expressionless. She was an outcast in the chat group. Ever since she had kicked Hong Yu out of the City of Water, she had been criticized and denounced. Even if she appeared in the chat, no one would pay her any mind.
Ning Shu didn’t bother doing things that only invited snubs.
She was certain that 2333 had the school doctor uncle’s contact info but was hiding it for some reason.
“Ask Ah Wan. The qipao man would work too,” 2333 suggested.
“Enough. Just give me the contact information. It’s not like I’m going to eat him. What are you afraid of?” Ning Shu said grumpily. “His person is the one who kidnapped the kid.”
“…Fine.” 2333 finally relented. A new name appeared on Ning Shu’s chat list: Tai Shu.

Was that the school doctor’s name?
Ning Shu clicked on the name, intending to speak with him, but was informed she didn’t have permission to start a conversation.
Even though she had his contact info, she lacked the authorization to message him.
Ning Shu sent a friend request. They had to be friends before they could talk.
While she waited, she sent a message to Mei Ziqing, telling her to wait and see.
Mei Ziqing remained calm and thanked Ning Shu. “As long as Xiao Huo is still alive, we can manage. We’ll just find him slowly.”
Mei Ziqing fell silent for a moment before adding, “I feel like I’m always troubling you. It was the same last time, and now I’m back again.”

As Ning Shu spoke with Mei Ziqing, the system chimed with an incoming message.
However, the message said the other party had refused to talk and had rejected her friend request.

The guy probably took one look and rejected it immediately.
Ning Shu applied again. This time, she included her title as the lord of the City of Water. That should carry some weight.
After a long while, the other party finally agreed. There were no pleasantries or greetings, just a single question.

Ning Shu closed her eyes to rest while waiting for a reply. Surprisingly, she actually fell asleep. When she woke up, the chat interface was still open. She rubbed her eyes, but the other party still hadn’t replied.

She had been waiting all this time.
Ning Shu added some more agarwood to the incense burner, poked at it, and replaced the lid. Wisps of white smoke drifted elegantly from the holes.
The chat system chimed. Ning Shu looked up and saw a message from the school doctor uncle. He said Xiao Huo was now in the City of Water and told them to go reclaim him.
Immediately after sending the message, his icon dimmed and he vanished from her contact list.

Seeing the message, Ning Shu quickly notified Mei Ziqing, telling her the boy was in the City of Water.
“To the City of Water,” Ning Shu said to 2333. She didn’t care to ask why 2333 had the school doctor uncle’s contact info anymore.
All in all, 2333 was much more mysterious than she had imagined.
After a bout of being squeezed and stretched, Ning Shu was standing on the streets of the City of Water. When she reached the restaurant, Mei Ziqing hadn’t arrived yet. However, she saw Pan Chen and Xiao Huo sitting together. They had ordered a table full of food, with plates stacked high in layers.
Pan Chen was feasting heartily. Not only was he eating, but he was also urging Xiao Huo to eat as much as he could.
Looking at the two of them, Ning Shu thought about how Mei Ziqing was worried sick while these two were here eating and drinking their fill.
Mei Ziqing arrived shortly after. Seeing the scene, she immediately bristled and walked over.
When Xiao Huo saw Mei Ziqing, he stood up and called out happily, “Ziqing!”
“Why didn’t you tell me where you were going? I was worried sick looking for you, terrified that someone had swallowed you whole,” Mei Ziqing said angrily. Now that the child was found, her fear had turned into an urge to give someone a beating.
“Ziqing,” Xiao Huo called out piteously.
Xiao Huo’s hair had been cut into a neat, short style. His pitiful expression was enough to make anyone’s maternal instincts go wild.
Pan Chen tossed aside a bone he was holding. “How boring. I just took him out for a bit of fun. Is all this really necessary from you two?”

“Taking someone without a word is kidnapping,” Ning Shu said. “Xiao Huo, Mei Ziqing was very worried about you.”

With a flick of her finger, Ning Shu sent an invisible force that slapped against Pan Chen. “Whom are you trying to scare on my turf?”
Pan Chen rubbed his face and glared at Ning Shu with an unfriendly gaze. “I can’t do anything to you here, but once we’re out of this place, let’s have a real contest.”
“What’s there to contest? You’re a being who can kill without incurring karma. Wouldn’t swallowing me be a matter of seconds for you?” Ning Shu said while watching him calmly.
“You think I wouldn’t dare?” Pan Chen sneered while slamming his fist onto the table and making the plates rattle.
Mei Ziqing said coldly, “Are you still trying to be unreasonable? You’re the one who took him away, yet you’re acting so aggressive now. Xiao Huo, don’t associate with someone like him. He can do whatever he wants, but we can’t. He can kill without karma, but we cannot.”
