The fragrant man gave Ning Shu and Wen Xing a pair of glasses—well, each of them got half a pair—designed for tracking and navigation.
When Ning Shu put them on, a full map of the city appeared before her eyes, complete with red dots marking where her targets were.
This was awesome!
This would make hunting down the monsters much easier.
She hadn’t seen anything like this before, not even in the system exchange marketplace.
With the added support, Ning Shu felt a wave of relief. Individual strength had its limits, and sometimes, it was necessary to rely on the organization for help.
The fragrant man was dressed in a military uniform, but he had put a lot of heavily scented hair gel in his hair like usual.
He clearly had an odd obsession with it.
Ning Shu couldn’t help but think that too much hair gel would lead to baldness.
In their previous encounters, he’d always worn flashy clothing. This time, even though he was in uniform, Ning Shu still didn’t get the sense of the discipline or loyalty typical of a soldier.He just seemed flashy, as usual.
She felt an itch of curiosity. There were so many questions she wanted to ask.
However, she held herself back. Some things were simply not meant for her to know, especially at her current level.
Besides, knowing certain things wouldn’t benefit her. Still, being part of a powerful organization did bring a sense of security.
“Alright, let’s split up and take care of our targets,” the fragrant man ordered without much elaboration.
Wen Xing glanced at Ning Shu. “Can you handle this on your own?”
Ning Shu nodded confidently. “Of course.”
Wen Xing turned and headed in another direction, while the fragrant man reminded Ning Shu, “If you’re not capable of handling situations like this, don’t choose worlds that have such plot points in them.
“You’d end up not solving anything and even impacting the world negatively.”
For a moment, Ning Shu felt awkward but nodded in agreement. She said, “I understand.”
He was right; this situation was beyond her capabilities.
Without Wen Xing, she wouldn’t have even been able to report the anomaly in this world.
Ning Shu frowned slightly. 2333 had chosen this world for her.
She had gone along with it because she couldn’t meet her entrustor before she started her task, for the time being.
Besides, no one could have expected that things would turn out this way.
She wondered if 2333 had intentionally or carelessly chosen this world for her.
Could this all have been a mistake or neglect? Or maybe 2333 simply hadn’t anticipated the sudden changes?
She pushed the thought aside. Since she and 2333 were still on the same path, sometimes digging into things that had already happened was pointless.
The only solution was to strengthen herself and solidify her resolve.
“Go deal with the monsters,” the fragrant man said before vanishing in a flash.
Ning Shu headed toward the nearest red dot to eliminate the creatures.
With the tracking monocle, things were much easier—she could find one, shoot, and move on to the next.
The red dots across the city were slowly decreasing.
Ning Shu got hold of a motorcycle and sped from one target to another.
She eliminated each of the monsters with a single shot.
If she came across any injured civilians, she’d stop briefly to tend to their wounds. She’d bandage them and stop their bleeding.
Under the bombardment of the advanced weapons, the red dots in the city dwindled.
Finally, the last dot vanished, and the fragrant man’s voice echoed through the monocle, ordering everyone to meet at Road Three.
Ning Shu packed up her medical supplies and rode her motorcycle to the meeting point.
By the time she arrived, everyone else had already gathered, so she hurried over.
“Make sure you haven’t left anything behind in this world,” the fragrant man ordered.
The group of over ten quickly checked their equipment before each reporting that they hadn’t left anything behind.
