Chapter 741 - Fire Beacon’s Mission Failure
Chapter 741 - Fire Beacon’s Mission Failure
By the time Liu Jianwei and Tang Shi came out of the room, the enemies’ reinforcements had already arrived, so Liu Jianwei said, “You leave first. I’ll cover you.”
Without any hesitation, Tang Shi started to leave from the route that they had planned beforehand.
This was a battlefield, and there’s no time to waste.
Fire Beacon came prepared for this mission since the Dragon Group had already done their job as the vanguard. So after Fire Beacon took over the mission, they were provided with information.
Their action was perfect, or they wouldn’t be able to sneak into the building without any commotion.
However, Ying Xiong was too sinister, causing their mission to be exposed.
After Tang Shi dealt with several mercenaries that were blocking the way, she gasped for breath as she came out of the building. After a brief moment later, Hei Jin and Yuan Lan received her message and came over.
“Where’s Old Liu?” Yuan Lan locked her brows together.
“He’s covering!” Tang Shi said in a worried tone.
“I’ll go receive him. You guys leave immediately!” Hei Jin said in a hoarse voice.
“Be careful!” Yuan Lan instructed after a brief consideration.
Their main objective for this mission was to bring the cure out. As for Hei Jin going back to save Liu Jianwei, it was because Liu Jianwei cannot be considered an official member of Fire Beacon, so they had the responsibility to ensure his safety.
After that, Hei Jin charged out with his machine gun. When gunshots were fired, Yuan Lan and Tang Shi swiftly moved and charged out of a room, dealing with two hidden mercenaries before they fired several shots at the window.
When the reinforced glass shattered, Yuan Lan took out a remote control from her pocket. A few seconds later, a black object pierced through the wall and started to transform with two claws firmly fixing itself on the wall.
Tang Shi was the first to leap out. Her figure was akin to a swallow, rapidly sliding down the metal rope, while Yuan Lan was covering her in alertness. When she saw someone coming in, she immediately fired a few shots before she followed after Tang Shi.
Looking at the window, there were mercenaries firing frantically with sparks exploding from the muzzles. Along with curses, the gunshots broke the silence at night.
After Tang Shi and Yuan Lan landed on the ground, they immediately entered a black vehicle hidden in the darkness. Taking a look at her wrist, Yuan Lan said in a solemn voice, “We’ll wait for them for five minutes. If they can’t catch up to us, then we can only leave first.”
For those mercenaries to exit the building and chase after them, it would take about five minutes.
“We can’t abandon them!” Tang Shi felt a tinge of sourness in her nose.
Taking a deep breath, Yuan Lan explained, “We’re currently executing a mission, and we can’t put our emotions into the mission. If our mission fails because we were waiting for them, their sacrifice would be in vain.”
“Captain Yuan, you leave first with the cure. I have to go back in and rescue the two of them.” Tang Shi’s eyes welled up with tears.
“Tang Shi, don’t be willful, or you’re not fit to be a member of Fire Beacon. Remember that you’re currently on a mission, and you have to be mature.” Yuan Lan said.
As Tang Shi bit on her lips, tears flickered in her eyes.
“We have long contributed our lives to the organisation and the country.” Yuan Lan continued.
Listening to those words, Tang Shi no longer insisted and her tears fell on her thighs.
Looking at this scene, Yuan Lan inwardly sighed. Tang Shi was too sensitive; she’s not suitable for this sort of career that would often face life and death.
“Someone’s coming!” Tang Shi rejoiced.
Yuan Lan immediately opened the door and supported Liu Jianwei into the vehicle. He had suffered serious injuries with a few gunshot wounds with blood dying his clothes red.
“I’m sorry!” Liu Jianwei teared up as he continued, “I failed to bring Hei Jin back.”
When Yuan Lan heard those words, her facial expression drastically changed. However, she swiftly recovered and placed Liu Jianwei, who was on the verge of losing his consciousness, to the backseat.
A few minutes later, the vehicle swiftly drove out. A few minutes after their vehicle drove out, a group of people arrived. The one leading the group was Munns. He squatted down and twirled mud in his hand before he reported to the microphone in his ear, “The three of them escaped!”
“You guys only managed to make them leave behind one person after losing so many people? What a bunch of trash!” Ying Xiong unhappily grumbled.
With so many deaths of his brothers, Munns also had rage burning in his heart, so he replied in a solemn voice, “Boss, you can’t put it that way. We were risking our lives for you. It’s not that we’re weak, but the enemies are too strong.”
“Enough with the rambling. I will pay you guys handsomely. With money, your base in Central Europe will be able to recruit more people.” Ying Xiong unhappily replied before he asked, “Oh, I heard that you guys managed to capture one of them?”
“We did, but we paid blood as a result. I will definitely make him pay the price.” Munns coldly replied.
“That person is naturally your trophy, so he’s definitely yours.” Ying Xiong revealed a casual smile before he added, “The real cure will be shipped over through a special channel tomorrow, and we have to increase our security. We can’t allow something like this to take place again.”
In the end, all their arrangements today was just an act.
Hence, they weren’t worried that they lost a case in the laboratory.
“Please be reassured. We will definitely not disappoint you again.” Munns responded.
As the group returned to the building, Munns saw Hei Jin, who was covered in blood. He was left lying on the ground.
Seeing that Hei Jin wasn’t moving, Munns knitted his brows together. “Is he dead?”
“This person is stubborn to try and even escape despite his injuries. But fortunately, we were alert!” A mercenary responded.
Walking over with a sinister smile, Munns raised his head and gave a kick at Hei Jin’s abdomen. Although Hei Jin was unconscious, he immediately, subconsciously curled together from the pain.
“Find a doctor and treat him,” Munns ordered.
“But he killed so many of our brothers!” That mercenary was shocked by the abrupt instruction.
Pulling his face down, Munns swept his gaze around and replied, “We can vent our anger by killing him, or we can also use him to exchange for a sum of money. Which one will you choose?”
That mercenary was briefly stunned before he immediately responded, “I will make arrangements right away!”
After returning to their temporary base in Beijing, Yuan Lan immediately handed the case to their virology specialist.
Roughly half an hour later, the specialist came out from the laboratory with a bitter smile. “The two bottles that you guys brought back has nothing to do with the Seven Mountain Virus, they’re the cure to an ordinary virus.”
Receiving the answer, Yuan Lan immediately fell into silence. She never expected that despite the fact that they had risked death, they actually failed to complete their mission, and that the enemy even captured Hei Jin.
“What should we do now?” Tang Shi gave a conflicted gaze at Yuan Lan.
“We can only continue to follow and supervise them!” Yuan Lan sighed.
They had undoubtedly failed this mission, but who could’ve expected that Ying Xiong would be so cunning?
“What about Hei Jin?” Tang Shi asked in a worried tone.
“We can only wait.” Yuan Lan replied before she added, “If he’s not dead, the other party will definitely demand a ransom sum from us.”
Yuan Lan understood those mercenaries well, they would not think for the dead. In their eyes, there’s only money.
Silently Tang Shi nodded her head. Ever since she joined Fire Beacon, Hei Jin had been taking care of her like an elder brother. Hence, she was completely at a loss for Hei Jin to be captured.
“Take care of Liu Jianwei first and find him a good doctor. Oh, immediately invite Ling Yu of the Three Flavour Hall over. With him around, Liu Jianwei will definitely be safe.” Yuan Lan’s mind suddenly cleared up and gave out instructions.
“I will go right away!” Tang Shi immediately left the temporary base without any hesitation.
After Tang Shi left, Yuan Lan gave a call to Fire Deity and reported in a solemn voice, “I’m sorry. The mission has failed.”
“Ying Xiong is more unfathomable as we have imagined, and he has practically broken away from the Ying Family. There’s an unfathomable force controlling everything from the background.” Yan Wujin helplessly replied.
This epidemic was more complicated than they had imagined since it involved the conflict of many forces in the country.
However, Ying Xiong wasn’t afraid since he had a powerful force backing him up. It was so much so that even Fire Beacon and Dragon Group couldn't immediately get rid of him.
“Since we’re certain that he’s behind this disaster, are we not going to arrest him?” Yuan Lan was baffled.
“This matter is more complicated than you have imagined. We still do not have any evidence of his direct participation. If we arrest him right now, we will only alarm our enemy, not to mention that we will also be condemned internationally. Furthermore, there’s nothing we can do if he doesn’t hand the cure over. If that’s the case, wouldn’t more people suffer? The country is losing money daily, and we have to stay calm for stability. At times of emergency, we’re even required to compromise.” Yan Wujin helplessly explained.
“Why did he create such a huge disaster?” Yuan Lan raged. This was probably the greatest grievance in the world to be unable to do anything despite knowing that the other party was a criminal.
“The Ying Family Medicine Group and Tosca Pharmaceutical Conglomerate have invested in a medicine company. That company was listed three months ago, and their share price is rising rapidly right now.” Yan Wujin sighed.
The board members of that medicine company were extremely complicated. Aside from Ying Xiong, there were also several prominent families from overseas. If China did not have sufficient evidence to deal with Ying Xiong, those families would definitely work together to strike China with difficulties. Just like the financial crisis back then, it might come once more.
Most importantly, Ying Xiong had the cure for the virus. If the cure could be taken out one day earlier, it would be able to minimise the country’s loss to the greatest and rescue many lives, restoring peace to the country.
“He’s too despicable to make the country suffer such a great loss for his own personal benefits.” Yuan Lan bit on her lips and her lips were on the verge of bleeding.
He was even more disgusting than those merchants who were taking advantage of the crisis to make a profit. He practically put the entire country in a crisis to make money.
“We can only hope that they will release the cure as soon as possible to return peace to the people. As for the losses that the country is suffering, it’s way more than what he’s making.” Yan Wujin’s aged voice resounded.
“I will definitely make him pay the price!” Yuan Lan swore.
“Don’t be rash and wait for my orders.” Yan Wujin replied. At this moment, he did not have any better solutions.
