Chapter 1088: Language Foundation

Zhang Zian and the elfins agreed to take the statue to Egypt, in hopes that they could seal it in a pyramid with the power of the ancient Egyptian gods.

It was not difficult to find a pyramid in Egypt; it was, however, difficult to leave the statue in the pyramid without it being swept out as garbage by the pyramid managers.

“Ga ga! When people go on holiday, the most they do is leave writing that says ‘XX was here.’ You idiot want to leave a whole bunch of rubbish? If people caught you on the spot, wouldn’t you embarrass the people of China?” Richard called out as it flapped its wings.

Zhang Zian wanted to punch it, but if he thought about it carefully, that was actually a real problem. If the manager stopped him on the spot, he could not embarrass his motherland, right?

He brainstormed and said, “Richard, here’s your chance to show off. I’m going to study Japanese hard for a short time before I leave! Fortunately, I’m already familiar with Japanese, so I should learn it very fast!”

Richard paused. “…Did you learn Japanese from movies? Your idiot brain is moving fast!”

Zhang Zian was full of confidence. “If someone found out, I would first say ‘ya bai,’ then say ‘guo mie’ in a very shameful manner, and then ‘ha ci ka xi.’ If the other party wanted to grab me, I would shout ‘yi tai,’ then ‘ao nei gai,’ and ‘ha na xi tie.’ If the other party did not let me go, I would have to shout ‘suo kuo, da mie…'”

The other elfins listened with blank faces. Only Richard said, very shocked, “There’s nothing I can teach you about Japanese…”

Zhang Zian was delighted to hear that. He felt that learning the language by means of teaching and enjoying was a double success. Before he had the chance to boast about it, his mobile phone suddenly sounded a new message.

He took a look. It was a message from Wang Qian.

Wang Qian: “Master, about that… We’re at the shop. How much longer do you need?”

Zhang Zian paused.

Following that, Li Kun also sent a message. “Master, you don’t need to rush. We can wait longer.”

To prove his innocence, Zhang Zian used the fastest speed to pull up the shutter door. The cool, morning breeze floated in from outside the shop.

The shop employees were all waiting outside. Wang Qian and Li Kun had arrived at work first and were acting very strange. They all put their ears on the shutter door and looked at each other mysteriously. They did not know what they were eavesdropping on… It was as if they had discovered some terrible secret.

The door to the shop was normally open by the time the employees arrived. That day he did not open it, however. Li Yiyun and Jiang Feifei thought that Zhang Zian was suddenly ill and wanted to call to ask him about it, but Wang Qian and Li Kun stopped them and said that they could not disturb Zhang Zian.

Their words were confusing and their explanations were full of loopholes. The two girls didn’t believe them at all. They had to make a phone call or at least send a message to ask. Wang Qian and Li Kun couldn’t help but send two meaningful messages to him…

Zhang Zian knew that they had misunderstood, but could not explain it in front of two girls. Even if he did explain, the two would not believe it, and he would definitely make the situation worse.

While Zhang Zian and the elfins were discussing things, the shop employees had arrived for work. He was too absorbed with practicing his Japenese, however, and did not notice that it was time to open.

The pet shop had glass doors in addition to the shutter doors, so unless the people inside spoke loudly, they could hardly be heard outside.

Act smart and you’ll be struck by lightning! he thought.

Lu Yiyuan and Jiang Feifei had been stopped a bit further away by Li Kun, and he tried to think of ways to explain to them that he could not let them go near the door yet. As the shutter door suddenly rose, Wang Qian, with an embarrassed face, moved his ears away from the door and said with a grin, “Master, you… finished so soon?”

He and Li Kun looked at Zhang Zian with strange eyes. They then looked at his trousers… There was an inexplicable amount of pity in their eyes.

Even though Zhang Zian was thick-skinned, at that moment, he could not help but sweat. He was unsure of how to explain himself.

“The f*ck do you mean? I’m not that fast!” It was important to clarify the misunderstanding, but it was even more important to clarify that aspect of things. After all, it was about the dignity of men.

“Don’t randomly think things. I was practicing Japanese just now. Didn’t you hear the teacher say when you were in high school that it’s most efficient to recite words in the morning?” he explained. Technically, he didn’t lie.

Wang Qian and Li Kun made an expression as if they had come to a realization, but their acting skills were not good enough. They were very clearly faking it.

“Master, you must take care of your health! It’s bad to hold it in!” Wang Qian had a hidden meaning behind his words, but his eyes were clear. “Master, don’t explain! We’re all men. What can be explained? An explanation is just a disguise!”

Li Kun sighed. “Speaking of, I have used that excuse before as well… If I’m being honest, it’s not a very good one…”

Li Yiyun and Jiang Feifei walked over. They had sunscreen applied to their faces, for the weather in Binhai City had gotten increasingly warmer.

Lu Yiyun often drew things that happened in real life and had a keen sense of observation. She found that Zhang Zian’s clothes were quite neat––a bit too neat––while he had grass leaves and mud on his shoes. He looked like he had just come in from outside, and had walked on a muddy road. In addition, he looked tired and seemed to have not slept well the night before.

“Mr. Shopkeeper…” She wanted to ask Zhang Zian if he was sick, or if something was wrong. They would be happy to lend a hand if he needed help. Nevertheless, just as she began to speak, Jasmine poked its head out of her backpack. It reached over Lu Yiyun’s shoulder, noticed the Holy Cat Statue, and meowed.

As it meowed, Lu Yiyun also noticed that the Holy Cat Statue was back. She could not help but cover her mouth. She said in a soft voice, “The Holy Cat Statue… When did it come back?”

No one knew better than her. After all, she sat at the cash register every day. When the clerks left work the night before, the opposite side of the cash register was clear and empty. Now the Holy Cat Statue was sitting there again. That obviously meant that something had happened the night before.

Wang Qian and Li Kun also saw the Holy Cat Statue and were shocked.

“Master, this… Is this the original statue, or did you buy another one? If it’s a new one, it’s good craftsmanship!” They pointed to it and stuttered.

“Am I so cheap that I need to make a statue look old after I buy it?” Zhang Zian knew that they were being dumb again, and so he insulted them before he gave them a serious answer. “That’s the original one. I found it.”
