Chapter 2064: Chapter 2061: Standards
“Didn’t you previously not want to discuss marriage? Could it be you’ve met a suitable match?”
“Not exactly.” Lu Sangqi furrowed his brow in distress, “I’m already nineteen turning twenty this year. Before, my grandfather helped to fend off people from the Prefectural City, but now it’s different; even he has started urging me to get married.”
“That’s one thing, but people from the Prefectural City are even thinking of arranging a marriage for me. That woman actually wants me to marry her niece from her maternal family. Do they really think I’m still that easily bullied child?” Lu Sangqi snorted, dismissive of his stepmother’s actions.
Ye Muyu had also heard about Lu Sangqi’s family affairs and thought, as the saying goes, “With a stepmother comes a stepfather,” and it’s quite true.
The fact that Lu Sangqi has stayed away all these years is largely due to his relationship with this stepmother.
Now it seems that Lu Sangqi has gained Elder Master Lu’s favor and made a name for himself in the capital, making those at home uneasy.
“It’s parental orders and matchmaker’s words. How do you plan to handle this marriage?” Ye Muyu really cared for Lu Sangqi as her own younger brother.
If it weren’t for Lu Sangqi, she might not have been able to collaborate with him in developing a medicine for epidemic prevention, and Ah Heng might really have been lost then.
After getting along for so many years, their bond was naturally strong.
“Grandfather is letting me choose someone in the capital. With him around, I won’t have to marry someone I don’t like,” Lu Sangqi pouted.
He was actually quite hesitant in his heart.
There are people he likes in the capital, but none he’s truly fond of—just people he doesn’t dislike.
“What are you thinking? Do you need me to introduce someone, or should I talk to your grandfather for more time?” Ye Muyu took a sip of tea, admitting she’s not the best at handling such matters.
If she didn’t genuinely not want Lu Sangqi to end up with someone unsuitable and be miserable for life, she wouldn’t offer to introduce potential matches.
She wasn’t really skilled in being a matchmaker.
“It’s hard to persuade Grandfather; he is only looking out for me. As for introductions, Sister, your friends are all already married women, what are you going to introduce me to?” Lu Sangqi spoke rather bluntly, but he was just being honest.
Ye Muyu touched the tip of her nose. She disliked trouble and chose friendships based on fate, not forcing them, so she didn’t have many close friends to talk to.
“However, since you mentioned it, there is something I need Sister’s help with,” Lu Sangqi said.
“What is it?”
Lu Sangqi sniffed and spoke in a muffled voice, “I’ve written some questions; take a look.”
Ye Muyu took the paper he handed over and couldn’t help but read for a bit. After finishing, her expression was a bit peculiar.
“What kind of food do you usually like? Spicy or sweet?”
“If planning a spring outing, what would you choose to do: fly a kite, recite poetry, go shopping…”
“Suddenly one evening, you see an old man fainted in the snow. With only a servant by your side, what would you do?”
After reading, Ye Muyu put down the paper and glanced at Lu Sangqi.
“What’s the matter?” Lu Sangqi looked at her gaze and asked, pretending to be calm.
Ye Muyu chuckled, “Are you planning to use these questions to select a wife?”
Lu Sangqi felt a bit embarrassed seeing she had figured it out instantly, but he didn’t hide it. The reddening of his ears betrayed his embarrassment, “…Yeah.”
“It’s kind of interesting, but have you considered that these rather personal questions might be something a young lady wouldn’t want to answer? They might think you’re a rogue,” Ye Muyu cautioned.
