Qiao Fie: “And if I refuse?”

“Qiao Fei, screw you!” Lu Yan fumed.

Qiao Fei: “Yan, stop giving me a hard time. I told your dad that I would take good care of you…”

“What am I supposed to do if something happens to my sister!” Lu Yan shouted at Qiao Fei in exasperation.

“I’ve got people watching her, and I’ll save her the minute I think she’s in trouble… I won’t let anything happen to her. Qin Chu saved my life, it’s the least I can do.” Qiao Fei said.

“Are you telling the truth?” Only then did Lu Yan calm down a little.

Qiao Fei: “When have I ever lied to you?”

“If that’s the case, why won’t you fight me? Are you afraid of losing?” Lu Yan raised her chin proudly.

“That’s not it, I’m just not interested in the prize,” Qiao Fei said.

“What do you want to bet on then?” Lu Yan felt speechless.

“If I win, you get into bed with me tonight. What do you say?” Qiao Fei said ever-so-calmly in front of all his subordinates.

Lu Yan was immediately flushed; both embarrassed and angry, she felt like she was at a loss for words. “You… I’m too lazy to play with you. I’m going back for a nap.”

Then, she turned around and ran back into the castle, disregarding her request to go to C City and bet with Qiao Fei.

Qiao Fei let out a sigh of relief as he watched her leave. Then, he turned around and headed back as well. On his way, he took out his phone and dialed a number.

Qin Chu had just come out of his morning meeting when his phone rang. He looked at the caller ID – it was a Russian number.

Was it Qiao Fei or Lu Yan? He hadn’t seen either of them ever since the left on the eve of Chinese New Year.

At this thought, Qin Chu picked up the phone.

“Hello?”

“Brother-in-Law, it’s Qiao Fei,” the man on the other end called Qin Chu so naturally.

“I know.” Qin Chu was just as calm and natural; it was as if they had known each other for years.

“I have news.”

“Go on.” Qin Chu nodded as he walked towards his office.

“We have reliable intel that Ian arrived in C City two days ago.”

“What did you say?” Qin Chu froze on the spot upon hearing what Qiao Fei said.

“You didn’t find out in time probably because he disguised himself when he entered the country.”

“I see,” Qin Chu finally understood why a bad feeling had been lingering over him for the past few weeks. Ian was here… did that mean he was behind the series of incidents that happened over the last few days?

But what did Ian have to do with the Xiang Family and Mo Xue’er though?

Qin Chu’s head buzzed as countless questions came to his mind.

“Yan’s worried that Ian might find out who Huo Mian is… she loves her sister so much that she wanted to go to C City today, but I reckon that her presence might alert Ian. Ian probably doesn’t know who Huo Mian is yet, or else he would’ve done something a long time ago,” Qiao Fei analyzed calmly.

“You’re right.” Qin Chu nodded in agreement. Ian would’ve made a move already if he knew that Huo Mian was Lu Yan’s sister.

“But you guys should be on alert, it wouldn’t hurt to be more cautious… Ian’s the cruelest man I’ve ever met… Protect your family, Chu.” Qiao Fei reminded.
