Chapter 288 - The Light Curia, Slapped to Death
Chapter 288: The Light Curia, Slapped to Death
Hearing Patriarch Holdan’s words, everyone in the hall started whispering to each other.
“Holdan is right. In Auguland, how can an existence such as a Sacred appear in a godforsaken place like Mansfield?”
“I know right! I’ve never seen a Sacred in all my life. This person may have used a few magic tricks to decided Milord!”
“It makes sense…”
As Delia heard everyone’s discussion, she could no longer sit still. She stood up and glared angrily Patriarch Holdan. “Patriarch Holdan, I personally invited Lord Sacred here. How could he be a fake? You should hold your tongue and not slander Lord Sacred!”
“Ms. Delia, you are still young and easily deceived.”
Patriarch Holdan smiled slightly. “Priest Kells had the honor of going to the Curia’s headquarters to study, and he personally checked the background information of all of the Sacreds in Auguland. He is arguably the best person with the most say in Mansfield.”
Having said that, he turned around and looked at Priest Kells with a smile. “Your Grace, have you seen… this Sacred before?”
“The Sacreds are all amazing, talented people!”
Priest Kells stared at Ling Jiu, saying. “Even if one were to become a Sacred, they would be old folks.”
“The youngest Sacred of Auguland was the Boulder Blade Saint Saunders who was born 100 years ago, and he was already 51 when he became a Sacred.
“Please forgive me for my bad eyes, but I really cannot think of when did a young Sacred such as your Excellency had appeared in Auguland.”
Hearing this, everyone’s eyes immediately focused on Ling Jiu, Priest Kells’ words made sense.
Although the Sacreds were long-lived, how they looked when they became one, would be how they looked like forever. There was no possibility of them rejuvenating and becoming younger again.
Ling Jiu was just too young, no different from a young man in his twenties. Could it be that he had become a Sacred in his twenties?
You had to be joking!
If he did exist, he would have been famous across Auguland. How could he remain unknown?
“Lord Sacred, what else do you want to say?”
Patriarch Holdan looked at Ling Jiu.
If he had previously called Ling Jiu “Lord Sacred” in a respectful tone, this time, his tone was filled with sarcasm.
“You’re questioning me? Who do you think you are?”
Ling Jiu raised his eyes and glanced at him.
“Insolence!”
Patriarch Holdan was furious. “Come, men! Drag this swindling street rat out and beat him to death with sticks!”
“Yes, sir!”
The moment Patriarch Holdan gave the order, a group of guards rushed in.
They all wore uniforms with the Holdan family crest on them. Each of them held a broadsword, and they were menacing as they surrounded Ling Jiu in an instant.
“Take him!”
The leading guard captain waved his hand and a group of guards that had surrounded him pounced. Delia tried to stop them but it was already too late.
Ling Jiu glanced at the guards, saying “Get lost!”
Bam!!
A terrifying aura erupted from Ling Jiu and spread out instantly like a nuclear bomb that had suddenly detonated.
The moment all of the guards who rushed forward came into contact with that aura, they spat out blood as if they had been run over by a speeding train. A series of loud cracks rang out across their body as all of them flew away.
Krakk!!
Dushhh!
In the end, all of them slammed heavily onto the ground as the guests looked on in horror.
Everyone looked over in horror as all of the guards had their bones shattered as they lay dead like a puddle of mud, without any trace of life.
The hall suddenly fell into dead silence.
Everyone looked at the dead guards, and then at Ling Jiu who was still sitting nonchalantly at the main seat supping his wine before gulping.
Killing so many guards by just releasing his aura… What sort of strength is that?
One needed to know that these Holdan guards were all Level 6 warriors who could rip a Level 6 magic beast apart with their bare-hands and smash rocks with a single punch!
That strength of his, if he was no Sacred, he was at the very least a Level 9 warrior?
Patriarch Holdan also realized this fact as his eyes looked at Ling Jiu with suddenly had a tinge of fear in it.
In desperation, he suddenly bowed to Ling Jiu as he kowtowed repeatedly and slapped his fat face.
“I was blind! I was blind! Please forgive me, sir! Please spare me!”
Everyone did not say a word. They dared not say a word.
Ling Jiu slowly drank a glass of wine, and did not look at Patriarch Holdan as he raised his right hand slightly and as if fanning a mosquito. “You may leave.”
Baaam!!
Ling Jiu’s action seemed casual, yet Patriarch Holdan shot out like a cannonball as he suddenly rose off the ground in an instant and flew out.
He then disappeared into the horizon as no one knew where he flew off to.
“He sent Patriarch Holdan flying with just a wave of his hand?”
“Terrifying! Just terrifying!”
“Patriarch Holdan is a Level 7 warrior!”
“This is definitely something only a Sacred can do.”
Everyone looked at Ling Jiu with apprehension, without the ease and calmness they had before. They had been skeptical about whether Ling Jiu was a Sacred or not earlier.
But now… no one dared to question it anymore!
Moreover, they dared not question it at all!
“Now there’s only you left.”
Ling Jiu’s gaze suddenly fell on Priest Kells, and that caused the latter to feel blades running down his back as the latter forced out an awkward smile.
“My eyes were wrong, Lord Sacred, please forgive me.”
Although Priest Kells was shocked by Ling Jiu’s strength, he did not think that Ling Jiu would do anything to him. After all, he was a member of the Light Curia.
The Light Curia was one of the top factions of Auguland, and was the master of the Empire of Light, even a Sacred would dare not be an enemy of the Light Curia.
For this alone, Priest Kells was confident that Ling Jiu dared not touch him. Everyone too had the same thought, although Priest Kells’ position in the Curia was not high, as he was after all still a clergyman of the Curia.”
Kill him?
That means going against the Light Curia.
As long as Ling Jiu was not stupid, he would not do anything that stupid.
However, the development of things often exceeded everyone’s expectations as Ling Jiu looked at Priest Kells and smiled faintly. “So, do you want to live or die?”
Priest Kells heart skipped a beat as he forced a smile. “What do you mean, sir?”
“If you want to live, kneel, and crawl your way to me, perhaps I can spare your worthless life.” Ling Jiu said faintly.
“Sir, this is too much!”
Priest Kells’ expression changed drastically as he angrily said, “I am a mid-level clergyman of the Light Curia, for you to humiliate me like this, do you want to make an enemy out of the Curia?”
“The Light Curia? The hell is that?”
“Ling Jiu softly said, “Do you think that pulling out the banner of the Curia means you can avoid death? Ridiculous.”
“Sir, you really want to make an enemy out of the Curia?”
Priest Kells had a very uncomfortable expression.
“Die!”
Ling Jiu snorted and slammed his palm down.
Krak!!
Before everyone, Priest Kells was smashed into a paste. He did not even have a chance to scream.
Then there was silence.
The entire place was so silent that even a pinfall could be heard.
