Chapter 665 – I Don’t Want To Give Half Of My Love To Another Child
Sitting on the plane, Qin Wenqian was sleeping soundly in Wei Zhengsheng's arms, meanwhile, Xian Guiying was leaning against the window, looking at the white clouds and the blue sky. Her heart was filled with memories of what had happened in America over the past twelve years.
She then turned around and looked at Wei Zhengsheng, who was passing her a glass of water.
"Drink some water. We have twelve hours to arrive in Los Angeles." As he spoke, he adjusted Qin Wenqian's position in his arms so that the child wouldn't feel numb or uncomfortable.
Wei Zhengsheng was a meticulous man. He paid attention to Xian Guiying's every move. It was as if he could see every expression on her face.
If it weren't for Qin Wenqian and just for his sake alone, it might not have been enough reason for her to return to the United States. But in order for her daughter's body to be taken care of promptly, she was willing to return to that place that was full of grieving memories.
H City and Boston didn't give her much happiness, but what could actually make her happy?
Xian Guiying leaned against the window with a glass in her hand, staring outside. She was staring at the blue sky for a long time.
When she decided to take a sip of water, she found Wei Zhengsheng's gaze on her. She asked with a smile. "What's wrong?"
"My parents are on vacation in Los Angeles. Should we meet them before returning to Boston?" He asked.
The smile on Xian Guiying's face faded a little, but she maintained a faint smile. "Your parents?"
"Do you want to see them?" His voice was very soft. It was unknown whether he was afraid of waking up Qin Wenqian or scaring Xian Guiying.
Xian Guiying didn't expect Wei Zhengsheng's parents to be in LA, so she smiled, "Why didn't you tell me earlier? I didn't prepare anything at all."
"While you were planning to book this flight, I wanted to tell you about it. But after thinking about it, it might be too soon. With your personality, I'm afraid you can't accept it. That's why I never mentioned it." He explained, "But since we happened to be passing through Los Angeles, it doesn't seem like a good idea if I'm not telling you, don't you think?"
"Yes, since they are here, if you don't tell me about it, I'm afraid I won't be able to explain myself when we meet another time." As she spoke, she put down the glass in her hand on a small table in front of her. "But this is too sudden. Zhengsheng, even though I'm divorced now, I need time."
Wei Zhengsheng didn't say anything. He only held Qin Wenqian with one hand while the other hand covered her hand lightly. He held it tightly and sighed. "I understand."
Xian Guiying lowered her head to look at his hand. Her heart suddenly fell apart. Many complicated things suddenly struck her heart, making her feel weak.
After a while, she asked, "What do your parents think about Qianqian?"
Wei Zhengsheng knew that she would care about this. He smiled and pinched her hand gently. "Idiot. Didn't I already tell you that they accepted this child?"
"And then?" She shifted her gaze to him. "Will they accept a child who isn't Wei? Zhengsheng, I actually feel torn in the middle all these times."
He held her hand tightly, as if he wanted to stop her from saying anything. "That's enough. Stop overthinking. I'm willing to do it and there's no such thing as letting me down."
Xian Guiying pursed her lips and looked at Qin Wenqian, who was in his arms. She took a deep breath and said, "There's one thing I've been considering for a long time. I feel that if I were with you, it would be the greatest injustice."
She looked into his eyes. "Qianqian's health is not good. I will take care of her for the rest of my life. I have to focus on her body alone. Maybe I can't have a second child. I don't want to give half of my love to another child. I don't want Qianqian to lose half of her motherly love."
Wei Zhengsheng didn't say anything and just smiled.
Xian Guiying knew that although Wei Zhengsheng grew up in the United States, his parents were Chinese and, to the Chinese, there were three ways to be unfilial. Wei Zhengsheng was a very filial son, so if she were unwilling to give birth to a child with Wei's blood, it would be the greatest harm to both him and his parents' relationship.
She had never thought of this before, but now that her daughter had grown up and she was divorced, this kind of thing was already harmful to Qin Wenqian. That's why she told herself with certainty that she would never have another child. She wanted to give all her love to her daughter.
"I know that you are not a selfish person. Your parents are willing to accept Qianqian just because of you and this is something I am very grateful for, so I can not hurt your parents for being selfish. They are already old, they are waiting to hug their own grandchildren, and I–"
"Guiying, my parents are both Chinese-Americans. They are like Americans. Their views are already –"
"But can you change the traditional Chinese way of thinking in their bones? In fact, I feel that I will disappoint them. You have helped me raise my child from a young age and I still can't afford to give them grandchildren. Grandchildren from Wei's blood."
Xian Guiying looked at him while saying this, "Zhengsheng, your parents are good people. I could never repay everything you have done for me and I could never do everything you did for me in my entire life. I'm really thinking of staying with you, but I don't want to make your parents sad."
Wei Zhengsheng still held Qin Wenqian in one hand and held Xian Guiying's hand in the other. He didn't say anything as he looked ahead with a calm expression.
"I do need a warm home, but that doesn't mean I can hurt your parents for this purpose."
"Guiying." Wei Zhengsheng sighed and said softly, "You are not harming them."
Finally, he looked at her, "They always like you. If marrying you would bring harm to them, I wouldn't go to Wuyuan to bring you back. Do you understand?"
"Do you remember that a few years ago, you happened to come to our house, and after my parents saw you, they asked if I could marry someone like you? At that time, you and Qin Gengxin were only married for a few months, and Qin Wenqian was born for more than a month. I said you were married, and they said it was a pity. However, at the time, I was just joking. I asked them if Guiying would divorce one day, and I would marry her, at the same time, I would bring her daughter with me, would they accept it? They didn't seem to mind." He looked up and his eyes were serious.
"Guiying, there may be many options in life, and perhaps I could pick someone better. But think about it, if they can accept a four-year-old cute little granddaughter like this, then blood is not a problem in their eyes at all. What you consider unfair to them is because of your kind nature and you don't want to hurt other people, but it's not like what you think it is. Calm down, okay?"
Xian Guiying sighed and smiled.
Kind?
Was she really kind?
Xian Guiying never felt that the words suited her at all. This was the first time she had ever heard someone use such a word to describe her, so she could only sigh and laugh as she glanced at Wei Zhengsheng. "Others say that a smart man will describe a woman he likes with words of beauty and superior temperament. What kind of adjective is kindness? Why do I feel like I want to beat someone?"
In this world, Xian Guiying may be the only one who considers the word 'kind' insulting.
Wei Zhengsheng laughed.
