For a time, all was quiet atop the stone platform. Everyone was silent and still, gazing ahead without a word.
They had all been stunned by the green light that had shot out from the Bronze Sarcophagus.
Although the self-cultivators gathered around didn’t know what this green light was, they all knew how powerful the Crimson Fire Monarch Sword was. It was no doubt the most powerful sword in all of the Crimson Fire Continent. Once, it had been the sword of the ruler of the planet, carrying with it the fate of the entire planet.
But now, a large hole was shot through the Crimson Fire Monarch Sword by a simple beam of green light. It only stood to show how powerful the Bronze Sarcophagus must have been.
Spreading his spirit energy outward, Qingfeng Li touched the Bronze Sarcophagus. He wanted to scout inside and see what material the thing was made from.
However, the next moment, a wave of boundless spirit energy came from within. This spirit energy was greater than that of any self-cultivator Qingfeng Li had encountered before and, immediately, he was forced back a couple of steps.
Qingfeng Li’s face drained to a deathly pallor. A small stream of blood leaked out from the corner of his lips as he stared at the Bronze Sarcophagus in shock. This was not the kind of power he could deal with; it was at least at the saint level.
An impossible thought surfaced in Qingfeng Li’s mind: could this Bronze Sarcophagus be forged from saint level materials?
Within his mind-space, the voice of the Dark Night Emperor spoke to him, “Little One, if my guess is correct, the Bronze Sarcophagus before us was forged from obsidian saint steel.
Obsidian saint steel was a rare and valuable material even in the Ancient Ages. I’d never thought I’d see so much of it here. A sarcophagus made from obsidian saint steel, what a sight to behold.”
Hearing the Dark Night Emperor’s commentary, a hint of awe appeared over Qingfeng Li’s eyes. Although he’d seen and held many Dharma treasures before, at most, they’d been made from half-saint Level materials. He’d never encountered saint Level materials until today. In addition, he could clearly see that this Bronze Sarcophagus before him had developed its own consciousness and was able to attack on its own accord.
The Bronze Sarcophagus knew that the Crimson Fire Monarch was its enemy. This was why it had attacked the Crimson Fire Monarch Sword, blowing a large hole through it.
Tssssssssss…
Suddenly, a green smoke wafted up over the Bronze Sarcophagus, filling the entire space and enveloping everything within.
All the people standing around were covered by this green smoke. Then, as they all watched in shock, the lid of the Bronze Sarcophagus opened up and three beams of light shot out from within.
Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
The three beams of green light flew into Qingfeng Li, Huozhu Chi, and Linglong Xue and drew them into the Bronze Sarcophagus. Then, the lid closed once more. The three of them had disappeared.
Seeing this, the self-cultivators behind him were all overcome with shock.
They were clearly aware that buried within the Bronze Sarcophagus was the body of the Sun Monarch. Whoever entered would be able to obtain the Sun Monarch’s legacy. Everyone wanted it, but they didn’t expect that, now, only Qingfeng Li, Huozhu Chi and Linglong Xue were allowed inside.
Xue Lin, Mengyao Xu and the others were relatively weak. They’d only climbed to the hundredth step before realizing Qingfeng Li had been drawn into the Bronze Sarcophagus. Their expressions instantly changed.
Xue Lin hurried toward the Bronze Sarcophagus. Reaching out, she tried to push the lid open.
But no matter how hard she pushed, the lid wouldn’t budge.
Black Puppy padded up to Xue Lin. “You can stop pushing,” it told her. “This Bronze Sarcophagus was forged from saint level materials. Unless you become are at saint level, you won’t be able to open it.”
Having heard Black Puppy’s explanation, Xue Lin was overcome with worry. She was no longer a novice self-cultivator. She’d been practicing the Phoenix Immortal Chant for a long time by now, and she had awakened her Phoenix Bloodline. Now, she’d also awakened a mighty superpower: the Eye of the Phoenix.
Even so, Xue Lin understood that if she met a saint level self-cultivator right now, she would be no match for them at all.
If the Bronze Sarcophagus was really made from saint level materials, then there was probably not a single person on the Crimson Fire Continent who could open the lid.
Seeing Xue Lin’s worried expression, Black Puppy waved a paw at her. “Don’t worry,” it said softly. “Qingfeng Li has always been lucky. Besides, he has so many treasures that are even more powerful than saint level treasures. He’ll be alright.”
Xue Lin nodded. She walked over to the side. She used her Eye of the Phoenix, observing the Bronze Sarcophagus closely. She was trying to figure the thing out.
However, a divine white light covered the Bronze Sarcophagus, obscuring the sight of Xue Lin’s Eye of the Phoenix. She couldn’t see through it.
At the same time, Qingfeng Li, Huozhu Chi, and Linglong Xue entered the space inside the Bronze Sarcophagus, enveloped in the green light. They had been drawn in because they were the three strongest people present.
As Qingfeng Li and the others entered, their expressions changed as they realized that the space within was basically a massive planet.
The three of them stood on the surface of the planet. All around them were severed limbs and countless corpses. They could see nothing but pile upon pile of bones.
This was a dead planet, a lifeless planet. Qingfeng Li exchanged a glance with the other two and saw the same shock in their eyes as in his own.
Although Qingfeng Li and Huozhu Chi were enemies who wanted nothing more than to kill each other, here in this strange place, they held off from attacking one another for the time being. They both knew that there was an immense danger hidden here. If they were careless for even an instant, they could be killed.
Linglong Xue was clearly more willing to take Qingfeng Li’s side. She walked up to his side and spoke, “If my guess is correct, we are inside a self-contained dimension within the Bronze Sarcophagus. Inside, is a planet that had once been subjugated by a saint.”
Qingfeng Li nodded. “What a monumental creation,” he said. “As expected from an Ancient saint. He was able to subjugate an entire planet and compress it into the Bronze Sarcophagus. Apart from this Ancient saint, there probably isn’t another self-cultivator who could accomplish such a feat.”
It was at this moment that Qingfeng Li clearly felt the distance between the Spirit Monarch Realm a saint. The difference was night and day.
Qingfeng Li and the others advanced with caution. Each step they took made crunching noises as the bleached bones cracked underfoot.
These bones were abnormally large. Some were human, others were that of demonic beasts. Still others were bones of Giants, measuring several hundred meters long. These were as long rivers, and tall as mountains. But now, they were all dead.
In the air, there danced wisps of red fiery energy, black dark energy, white light energy, and gold metallic energy.
However, these different energies were intermingled in a chaotic, jumbled mess. They created a series of crackles in the air, along with long cracks that spread throughout the entire dimension, tearing heaven and earth apart.
