Chapter 9
Chapter 9 Dad, I’m Back
Wen Muchu stiffened and frowned slightly.
Just when he was about to gently remove Lan Xiao’s arms from around his waist, she stepped in front of him and pressed her red lips against his cold ones, standing on tiptoe.
A hint of surprise flashed through his eyes. He looked around subconsciously and found that it was dark and there was no one around. So why was she kissing him?
While he was still in a daze, he felt Lan Xiao’s soft tongue darting out to lick his lips, and then slowly sliding into his mouth and touching his teeth.
Her lips were soft and sweet. His Adam’s apple bobbed a couple of times.
He slowly clenched his fists and looked down at Lan Xiao’s red face and her wet eyes.
Just when he touched her slender waist with his hands to deepen the kiss, Lan Xiao blushed and stopped.
She quickly took a few steps back, lowered her head with considerable shyness, and anxiously fidgeted with her hands. “Good night,” she stammered, before turning around and running away.
Wen Muchu couldn’t help but laugh. “You are running in the wrong direction…”
“What? Yes, I… I’ll go that way…” Lan Xiao stopped and turned around awkwardly. Without any guts to look at Wen Muchu, she ran away like a rabbit.
Standing still, Wen Muchu watched her run into the Lan family’s villa. With bright eyes, he reached out and touched his lips with his fingers. He could still feel Lan Xiao’s lips on his.
It felt soft and sweet, like jelly.
His heart was pounding wildly against his chest.
Lan Xiao’s heart was pounding, too. She put her hand over her chest before standing on tiptoe and staring out of the house with a slightly red face until that tall figure gradually walked out of sight.
She was short of breath. Even now, she couldn’t believe what she had done.
How had she plucked up the courage to kiss him? She had behaved inconceivably as if she had been possessed at that moment.
In her previous life, she had been deeply in love with Lou Yucheng, but she had never done that to him.
What if she had scared Wen Muchu away with her enthusiasm? Would he only like the quiet and gentle side of her?
Suddenly, Lan Xiao was in a trance, at a loss as to what to do next.
She felt a pang of regret. Wen Muchu probably hated girls who were forward. She remembered that there were many girls in the school who chased after him one after another, fearlessly confessing their love to him. But he had refused all of them.
She shouldn’t have been so bold just now. What if she scared him?
Lan Xiao swore that the next time she saw Wen Muchu, she would be reserved, like a lady.
Yes, reserved.
She tightened the black coat she was wearing around herself and stood alone in the courtyard in a daze.
She didn’t return to her senses until she heard footsteps from the door.
It occurred to her that the guard who had just let her in must have already rushed into the house to tell her family of her arrival.
The next moment, Lan Xiao felt herself being pulled into a warm and broad embrace. The man held her tightly, and said in a trembling voice,
“Xiao Xiao, are you all right? Did you get hurt?”
Lan Xiao looked up and saw a familiar face. Tears welled up in her eyes.
She was reunited with her father. It was as if they had been apart for ages.
“I’m not hurt. Dad, I… I’m back…”
“Xiao Xiao, don’t be afraid. I’m glad you’re home safe and sound. I won’t let anything happen to you again.” Lan Shanhua, who was in his forties, tightly held his daughter, unwilling to let her go. There was still a trace of fear in his heart, and his eyes were brimming with tears.
