You Huangning waited for the others to leave before he left the room as the final occupant. Lowering his head, a greenish-brown ball of fur emerged from his sleeve. The ball of fur leapt up effortlessly onto You Huangning’s shoulder. As the sun in the sky slowly disappeared, the air felt chillier, since dusk was approaching.
“Tao Wu, are we getting old?” You Huangning’s face was crestfallen. “Back in the days when all the tribes had migrated from Jiutian Shidi, those juniors who saw us would greet us as seniors. I still remember when we tried to stall more time for them, a total of 70 of us stayed behind. I was the only one who emerged alive. Even you almost died when you were sliced at the waist, and then when the tribe chose a permanent resident, it was us who fought tooth and nail for it. I’ve given my life to the tribe. They said that I’ve done them a great service and contributed most of my life to them.”
“Wu.” The familiar on You Huangning’s shoulder turned its head and gave his ear a nuzzle. Tao Wu was a familiar that looked like a tiger but had tusks like that of a wild pig, as well as long fur, on its body.
“When did we became so unwelcomed?” You Huangning muttered to himself.
Tao Wu had lived for many years, and these years also passed by in a blur. It didn’t have high intelligence, and it could be said that Tao Wu was a rare beast that wasn’t very smart. It was one of the ancient beasts—hard to tame, a picky eater, and disobedient. In other words, it was a simpleton.
A simpleton naturally wouldn’t know how to console somebody, so Tao Wu simply continued to nuzzle behind You Huangning’s ear, while it mewled to console its owner. “Wu, wu, wu…”
You Huangning’s rough hand petted Tao Wu’s head. “It’s not as if I’m envious of their progress; it’s good that the juniors are able to surpass the older generations. But who is that Gao Peng, but an earthling!” You Huangning muttered in indignation, his face becoming red.
“Those that aren’t from the same tribe must have an agenda! Don’t they know this? That Gao Peng became a Quasi God trainer at a very young age. He experienced what we went through in such a short amount of time. It’s like playing with the devil. One day, our tribe will be destroyed by him!” You Huangning coughed as his emotions got the better of him. His eyes were burning in anger.
The Quasi God trainer who had been walking a distance away stopped. Others sighed, while some shook their heads. However, none of them had a trace of regret on their faces.
Of course they knew that whatever You Huangning said had some truth in it, so what if they were approaching somebody dangerous to work with them? Was the other party the only dangerous one around?
Now, Gao Peng wasn’t their enemy, nor was he from the Huaxia Tribe. He was mutated. What more did they need to say… Regarding a monster trainer who had managed to be so successful, who wouldn’t feel special?
Their familiars were limited by the sparse resources of the Sky World and trapped in the Quasi God Realm, If not for that, most of them would have become God-tier trainers. After what happened that day, You Huangning was never to be seen again. Trainers from the Black Tortoise Tribe said that he locked himself away. Very few people truly know where he went.
“Old senior, I would advise you to just go home. My familiar cannot fare against your Tao Wu, plus your familiar’s appetite is quite big… compared to my Da Zi,” Gao Peng said helplessly to the white-bearded man.
A couple of hours earlier, the old man had searched for Gao Peng alone, and then one night when there was no one around, he finally found him. When the old man saw Gao Peng, his first words were to rid the people of the monster.
He then proceeded to throw out his familiar, Quasi God Tao Wu.
Gao Peng grew annoyed and yelled at the old man, “You’re crazy!” Climbing into another person’s home in the middle of the night was one thing, but the old man was a Quasi God-tier trainer. What he had done embarrassed all of the Quasi-God tier trainers.
Thankfully, Fatty Big Sea had been beside him, so both familiars had started to fight. The old man’s Tao Wu controlled its power, as did Fatty Big Sea. As the two familiars went head to head, in normal circumstances, Fatty Big Sea wouldn’t have been able to hold out against a Level 97 monster, but the fish was equipped with three divine artifacts, so it managed to tackle and pin Tao Wu in place.
The old man stayed near Gao Peng, going on and on about how Gao Peng had no good intentions and would unfurl his evil plans. He also said that people that weren’t from his tribe had to have an agenda and so on.
Gao Peng didn’t mind all that, but Tao Wu was eating Gao Peng’s food, using Gao Peng’s stuff, and not forking over even a single cent. Gao Peng was just scared that the Tao Wu would starve and start to go on a rampage, so he sent people to feed it until it was full.
Surprisingly, Tao Wu had such a ravenous appetite that it could down several thousand tons of meat in one sitting. After that, it would let out the stinkiest gas. The smell was so bad that it could be described as a walking toxic gas grenade.
The only thing that made Gao Peng feel better was that even though the old man had been nagging him, saying that he was trouble, he had never attacked anybody else. Or else, judging from his familiar’s fighting power, it would have been a nightmare.
The second day after Gao Peng finished his dinner, he started to pack. If you want to stay here then so be it. I’m heading to Jiutian Shidi now, so bye-bye.
…
“You Huangning went and looked for you?” Bai Tongming asked.
“He’s called You Huangning? He only has one familiar, Tao Wu?” Gao Peng heard the old man’s name for the first time. He also knew his identity now. Since his surname was You, he was most likely from the Xuanhu Tribe.
“Yeah, he’s an antique, so he can be quite stiff,” Bai Tongming said in a matter-of-fact tone. Bai Tongming was also a white-bearded old man. When he said that somebody was antique, it was quite weird.
“You living beings on Earth would have more knowledge compared to us tribesmen. Even though we’ve lived for a long time, our days were basically spent hunting monsters and scaring away beasts, all only to survive,” Bai Tongming explained as he reminisced.
“That’s why we sent you as a delegate to the tribespeople on Earth. I’m preparing for you to command them,” Bai Tongming said to Gao Peng.
Gao Peng was taken aback. He had such a lazy demeanor; was he even fit to be a commander? It would be a miracle if he could avoid commanding others into a trap. Gao Peng quickly rebuffed Bai Tongming and rejected the offer.
“No need to reject it in a rush. They’re all accomplished members in their tribes, and they’re also the young prodigies of our top three tribes. As long as you can guide them in the right way, you don’t have to worry about your people in the Huaxia Tribe.” Bai Tongming gave Gao Peng’s shoulder a firm pat.
In the afternoon, each tribe has already discussed and agreed on who to send as delegates. In addition to Gao Peng, there would be a total of eleven people. The three top tribes and seven royal tribes would each send one of their people.
Ze Yuan held Ze Hai’s hand, as he said emotionally, “The future of the Poison Marsh Tribe depends on you.”
Ze Hai kept up his smile as his tribe expected. “I understand, grandfather.”
“This is the Fragrant Ink Pill, which will enable you to disguise yourself as mutated. The mutated’s blood runs green, so make sure that you don’t get hurt. Protect your identity at all costs.” Bai Tongming handed the bottle of pills to Gao Peng. “A pill can last you up to one month, and there’s a total of 36 pills in the bottle.”
Gao Peng opened the bottle and poured out a dark green pill. Looking at its smooth green surface, he fell into deep thought. Looking around at the others who had already swallowed the elixir, Gao Peng finally gripped his fist tightly and swallowed the pill.
He called out to Desolion and commanded it to create an ice mirror. Gao Peng noticed that the color of his face was beginning to change, the blood vessels on his face turning green as if green blood was flowing through them. Even his lips were turning a shade of purple.
His entire being gave off a gloomy aura. His skin had a slight green tint to it. Though not obvious, it looked weird. Gao Peng touched his face. “My entire body has really turned green.”
