3259 Impartation I
I calmed my excitement and sat down, before starting to solve this delicious puzzle with my clones.
If I had not been in the ruin, I would have solved it on my own, but time is precious. The more time passed, the more Grimm would realize we had entered the ruin, and will begin actively hunting us.
I have to say, whoever designed it is quite a bastard.
The thousands of sneaky little ways they had created inside mess with one are really frustrating. Those solving it think they are following a lead, but it will turn out to be a dud.
It is very hard to spot them; even I had been fooled in more ways than I could count.
Still, after falling for them over fifty times, I recognize a pattern and nearly stopped falling into them. Still, now and then, I would fail to recognize them and end up wasting my time on them.
Soon, the evening had arrived, and I took a break to eat and slept for three hours, while my clone kept working on it.
After I woke up, I begin working on it again.
Finally, I finished it; it was in the middle of the night at next day. It took me nearly forty-eight hours since the day here is thirty-two hours long.
I opened my eyes and stood in front of the wall before a hundred and two energy strings came out of my hands. I need them. My two hands will not be enough to move so many runes at a very fast speed.
I took a deep breath and moved my strings.
Each of the attached to runes and begin to move them, before attaching to different runes. It is happening so fast that even normal Primary-III won’t be able to follow it.
As I moved the runes, changes begin to appear in them, but I acted according to them.
It is happening as I had expected. There is no surprise.
Buzz!
Three minutes and seventeen seconds later, I pulled back my strings and waited. I did not have to wait for long.
A second later, the runes lit up magnificently and begin to move, or rather gather sphere, before moving to morph into a different shape.
A few seconds later; the runes stopped and formed a shape. The shape surprised me as I had not thought it would take the shape of a chair.
Hun!
I was looking at the chair made of runes when they lit, and a man appeared on it. It surprised me so much that I nearly took a step back before realizing it was not a real man.
The man in front of me is a human.
He looked to be in his early sixties; a short, average-looking man with brown skin and thick raven hair. The one thing that attracted me is his black eyes; they were deep black and seemed to have the power to pull people inside.
“I am glad; it is a human who solved the puzzle,” he said. His voice is normal, that it felt kind of soothing.
“Thank you, my lord,” I replied and bowed faintly in respect.
“You must be wondering what this place is since it had turned into such a state that even I wasn’t able to recognize it for a moment,” he said with a self-deprecating smile before his eyes turn distant.
For more than a minute, a human sitting in a chair did not speak. He lost before his eyes became clear again.
“When the war begins, and I know this little heaven of mine won’t survive. Even I might not survive.”
“So, I left my life’s accomplishments here for someone worthy. Who will inherit them and take them forward,” he said and turn to me.
“You have passed the test and are worthy to inherit it,”
“If you don’t mind me asking. What is it you are talking about, my lord?” I asked and a small smile embarrassed smile appeared on his face.
“Silly me, I had babbled so much about without telling you what it is,” he said, embarrassed.
“I am Angus Lockwood. A Grade 7 artificer; in my time. I was best in my region,” he said, and the excitement I had been dimmed.
I am not really much interested in artificing. While I dabble in it to create things like my breakthrough formation and learned from a few artificers of my world, but didn’t have a zeal for it.
“It seemed like you are not much interested in artificing,” he said, reading my expression.
“I have a great respect for artificers and even dabble in it, but did not have a zeal, I have seen people have about it,” I said and could see a disappointment appear on his face.
I really feel bad for this man. He prepared so much for a worthy inheritor but found me.
A Grade 7 artificer is no joke. He is at least a Sky Sovereign or even Prime. Organizations would kill for his legacy, a fight a bloody war for it.
“Well, I can’t force you, but it is yours if you want it,” he said and got up from the chair.
I want to reject it, seeing there is plenty of knowledge in the library, but seeing the man’s expressions. I stopped and decided to take it.
If nothing much. It will be an addition to the library’s collection. I am sure there will be something in it that the librarian will find interesting.
“My apologies for disrespecting your life’s world. If it pleases you, I will honor to inherit,” I said, and his face lit up a little.
“This is something I had made using all my comprehension. You will not receive a simple knowledge transfer, but impartation,” he said, and I couldn’t help but get shocked.
Seeing my expression, pride couldn’t help but appear on the old man’s face.
Impartation is a completely different level, and people do not do it, because it harms the person who is imparting their knowledge. It only happens when the condition is desperate.
Usually, it happened through methods, but the old man had created an artifact for it.
No wonder the formation of the runes was so complex.
“It will not be easy, young man, and how much you could take it will depend on your ability.”
“I hope you will at least be able to bear it till grade 5; my true legacy starts from there,” he said, looking at me with hope and expectations.
“I will try, my lord,” I said and bowed. “Since you decided. Sit on the chair,” he said.

They brought out a formation; it is not they crafted, but something from the library, this one makes impartation a little smoother.
Two of my clones sat in the two corners of it, while the three merged into one and sat in the center of formation between the two clones.
It had been a long time since I used the merged clone. I feel like it will help me a lot in the impartation.
Soon, I reached the chair and sat on it, and, to my surprise. It felt far more comfortable than I imagined it to be.
I could even say it was the most comfortable, I have ever sat.
