Chapter 64: Personal Training

After splitting up with Slayer’s Heart and the rest, Qin Ruo pondered for a while and finally made the wise decision to leave Savis Town temporarily. Not only had he offended Crackpot, but Cayman, whom he had killed the day before might also be hiding in some corner near Kane Jungle. The chances of him getting killed were exceptionally high should he be so unlucky to bump into either one of them.

In the past, Qin Ruo would not care about such matters since he was a loner who had nothing to lose.

But things were drastically different now!

Furthermore, through his experience in the secret chamber today, Qin Ruo understood deeply that enhanced power would certainly help the team gain more wealth from the Ruins’ secret chamber!

So for now, besides honing his Aquamorph more thoroughly, leveling up was also an urgent matter!

He had already reached Level 38 at the moment, so Qin Ruo would soon be able to launch the Tier 4 Advancement Quest and be included in the rank. By then, Qin Ruo would be a Tier 4 Aquamancer by any measure, and he would not have to be afraid of other Tier 4 DPS players, let alone Crackpot.

He reached the town and found a Chemist, whom he reluctantly bought an MP Potion worth 5,000 gold coins from. He also grabbed three more Tier 3 Water Magic Scrolls from the market for self-defense. Only then did he walk into the Teleportation Portal at the town square.

Whitewater Town was not a very well-known town placed under the flag of the Holy Faction.

Qin Ruo felt himself relax as he stepped out of Whitewater Town’s Teleportation Portal. Going through the Teleportation Portal of the Holy Faction town alone cost more than 10,000 gold…

Even if his two enemies, Crackpot, or Cayman managed to persuade their whole family to help, it was impossible for them to find out where he was. This was the best part of playing in this H&G world. Despite offending someone, including those from the Seven Great Leagues, you would still be fine by laying low in a small town. Mainly because, not even the joint forces of the Seven Great Leagues could completely block a player, who wished to enjoy the game unless the whole clan was on call for 24 hours straight.

However, Qin Ruo would certainly not attempt to do something as stupid as provoking the Seven Great Leagues.

Qin Ruo walked familiarly out of town and headed west with a small stream of people. The land outside Whitewater Town was broad and scenic. Since it belonged to the Holy Faction, there was no chance for an evil creature to exist there.

But as Qin Ruo deviated from the clear path on the main road of the vast land, the path gradually became rugged and the shadows of Tier 2 as well as Tier 3 monsters could be seen everywhere. If one was to survey the surrounding environment at this moment, even the nearest player would only appear as a blur shade if one looked hard enough.

Qin Ruo maintained his pace. If he wanted to study his Aquamorph, it was best for him to find a quiet and remote location where other players would not set foot in. Since the place was still rather near to town, it would be disastrous in case he was discovered by any team that was curious enough to send a Bandit over to investigate.

He continued to clear off the nearby monsters that attacked him, while he headed farther into the wilderness, away from town. He walked for almost half an hour before he reached his destination.

The place was a large, maroon-colored grove…

The maroon leaves made a rustling sound as the breeze passed by. The leaves, which were connected in large pieces looked like soft and delicious giant, maroon cotton candy from afar.

A small stream flowed next to the grove. This was the valuable land that Qin Ruo discovered when he was still in Tier 2…

Seeing that the place was as peaceful as ever, and no player had ever stepped in it, Qin Ruo relaxed and regained much of his spirit.

This is such a nice place.

He spent a considerable amount of time there when he was learning how to “cut corners” using the surrounding environment to rapidly gather magic, and manipulate his element to attack monsters.

The fur of the grove’s Level 29 “Wind Spirit Fox” was a fine raw material, which could be made into armbands and boots. On top of that, there was a certain probability that good quality meat could be obtained from the Wind Spirit Fox’s leg through Gathering. Every time he gathered the meat, Qin Ruo was able to enjoy a good meal to comfort his tired soul after all the hard labor.

Thinking that it had been a while since he last managed to taste the tempting and delicious meat, he was definitely going to enjoy the delightful taste of the Wind Spirit Fox’s leg again today as he had a few hours to spare.

Qin Ruo smiled once he thought about that delicious meat. He followed the tiny stream and walked into the grove without deploying his Aquabarrier.

***

The size of a Wind Spirit Fox was smaller than a Galewind Wolf, but its aggressiveness was comparable to that of a Galewind Wolf. This creature excelled in Windblade and possessed a certain amount of melee attack power. The only difference between them was that the Wind Spirit Fox did not live in a colony.

Perhaps it was due to the nature of the fox clan. A Wind Spirit Fox would never try to invade a zone that belonged to another Wind Spirit Fox, and it would never stay together with another Wind Spirit Fox as well. Most of the time they preferred to curl inside a comfortable pile of fallen leaves, or raise their head and inspect their territory arrogantly, portraying their narcissistic charm.

Within the grove, a Wind Spirit Fox near the edge of the small forest stared outwith its red irises, cautiously scanning its surroundings. Shortly after, it proudly licked its shining maroon fur and stood up slowly from its nest to begin another round of inspection…

Its previous inspection just ended a few minutes ago, so it would have been reasonable for it to rest in its den for a while to refresh. However… a tiny noise that came from outside the grove earlier had made it feel uneasy. Although it had checked its surroundings several times and ensured that there was no intrusion from human adventurers, the Wind Spirit Fox was still disturbed by the unusual activity. Hence, it became anxious and restless.

Right after it took a few elegant steps, the Wind Spirit Fox’s body was suddenly paralyzed! It dug four of its claws into the ground! Its red eyes shone with full alertness as he stared closely at a spot outside the grove! Seemingly sensing some danger, its previously relaxed and elegant behavior of strolling around in its own backyard had now completely disappeared!

The grove was silent for a few seconds…

No other movement was detected again, but the Wind Spirit Fox refused to let its guard down and its sight remained fixed on the same spot. Only its nose twitched slightly.

Another few seconds passed, and a sigh was heard within the grove. “Damn fox, such a good sense of smell.”

As the unexpected voice rang in the empty grove, the Wind Spirit Fox hesitated no more and growled lightly. With its front claws dug deep into the ground, the fox bent its legs and sprang high into the air, diving towards the source of the voice.
