601 Clash of Skills
“I’m talking to you.”
Ren couldn’t help but feel surprised by Roz’s declaration.
Did he recognize him? That’s impossible. Ren hadn’t informed him, and Roz was relatively new to their mercenary guild, Word Conqueror.
Or did Leonel told him?
“Wait, you’re that kid we hired!” Mike pointed at Roz.
Confusion clouded Invayne’s face. “Who?”
“You know, that kid without a class I brought into the guild,” Mike explained, omitting his embarrassment of being a probationary member just so he could enter Black Lion.
Invayne’s expression made it clear that she had no recollection of the situation. With so many members and aspiring recruits, it was impossible for her to remember everyone.
Mike stepped forward, approaching Roz with a smug expression. “So, you’re that kid who remained classless until you left the guild. Are you still unemployed?”
Roz’s usually composed face showed a slight crack.
Robert interjected, dismissing the matter. “Let’s forget about him. If he’s classless, he poses no threat.”
Confident in his abilities, Mike eagerly volunteered. “I’ll take care of them. I can handle it.”
Determined to prove himself and earn a promotion, Mike saw this as his chance. He had invested a significant amount of his own money to enter this realm, and he was determined to show Scar that he could be a core member too.
He was determined that he would get a core position at the end of the day.
While Mike engaged Roz and Lira, the rest of Black Lion and Sleeping Dragon initiated their attack on Ren and Isolde.
Robert positioned himself as their tank, ready to absorb the enemy’s blows. Joker cast his spell [Time Manipulation], freezing Ren and Isolde in place.
Cang Lu and Hixel stepped forward to engage in close combat while Aragon positioned himself to snipe from a distance.
At the back, Scar unleashed a flurry of spells while Angelica and Invayne boosted their stats to enhance their abilities.
Ren and Isolde stood frozen in place, unable to move as they absorbed the onslaught of attacks.
The impact of the combined spells created powerful blasts and explosions, but to everyone’s astonishment, Ren remained standing with his HP fully intact while Isolde vanished.
Invayne couldn’t believe her eyes. “W-what is he?”
Ren had utilized his [Legendary Immunity] skill to deflect all incoming attacks, even before Joker could cast [Time Manipulation]. He had anticipated that Joker would attempt that spell first.
If their enemies wanted to kill him in a single blow, Ren knew that this was the only way to do it.
Meanwhile, Isolde activated her new skill, [Evade Critical], allowing her to avoid critical attacks and withstand damage with only half of her HP left. However, due to its low level, she could only use it once a day.
Joker’s [Time Manipulation] spell could only last for ten seconds, casted twice a day, and had a sixty seconds cool down. But before he could cast another spell, time froze within a fifty-meter radius around him.
Ren had copied [Time Manipulation], but Angelica swiftly countered it with her Seer’s ability, [Forecast]. She effortlessly broke the spell, preventing everyone from being affected.
“Heh. Too bad,” Joker commented, seemingly unfazed. “As long as this shorty is here with me, your attacks are nulled.”
Angelica drilled her heels against Joker’s boots and beamed at him. “Who are you calling shorty?”
Meanwhile, confusion filled the minds of Invayne and the others when Ren casted Joker’s spells.
“Is he also a Chronomage?” Invayne pondered aloud.
Scar remained silent, his mind still grappling with the familiarity he felt towards Ren’s staff and skill-copying ability.
Was it simply a coincidence, or was there more to it?
“You can’t defeat us!” Cang Lu sneered. “Give up before you die!”
Without hesitation, Cang Lu and Hixel lunged toward Ren, aiming for a decisive strike. However, their attack was swiftly intercepted by Isolde’s bullets.
“Don’t forget about me!” Isolde proclaimed, and she unleashed her ultimate skill, [Bulletstorm: Celestial Rain].
A devastating barrage of bullets soared through the air, descending upon the battlefield like a celestial meteor shower. Each bullet glimmered with a brilliant, otherworldly light, trailing fiery streaks as they streaked toward their targets.
The ground trembled beneath the impact of the raining bullets, creating small craters and sending shockwaves through the vicinity. The air filled with the deafening sound of gunfire and the acrid scent of gunpowder.
Cang Lu and Hixel instinctively evaded, well aware of the deadly force behind Isolde’s bullets. Despite their formidable defenses, they knew better than to face the Guns and Knives’ main attacker head-on.
“Haha! It won’t work!” Robert exclaimed. His shield pulsed with energy, expanding in size to envelop Invayne, Scar, Joker, and himself within its protective embrace [Shield of Gea].
His arrow soared through the air with remarkable speed and accuracy. The arrowhead glimmered with a faint magical aura. It arced through the sky, closing the distance between them with astonishing swiftness. [Stormpiercer Shot]
As Isolde sensed the incoming projectile. In a swift motion, she transformed her weapon into a massive bazooka, its sleek metallic surface glinting in the sunlight. With a resolute grip, she shouldered the powerful weapon, its weight balanced against her sturdy frame.
Time seemed to slow as the opposing missile hurtled through the air, its fiery trail illuminating the sky.
Isolde’s finger tightened around the trigger. In a thunderous explosion of force, she unleashed a powerful blast from her bazooka, the rocket soaring forth like a streak of deadly lightning.
The two projectiles collided in mid-air with an earth-shaking impact. The deafening boom echoed through the battlefield, reverberating across the surrounding landscape. Shockwaves rippled through the atmosphere, scattering debris and shrouding the area in a cloud of smoke and dust.
For a brief moment, the clash of the explosive forces held the onlookers in suspense. The air crackled with energy, the remnants of the detonation dissipating slowly. As the smoke cleared, revealing the aftermath of the clash, it became evident that neither missile had emerged unscathed.
While the other side was engaged with Ren and Isolde, Mike was busy with Roz and Lira.
“Do we really have to fight him?” Lira asked. She wasn’t really into PvP fights right now.
“You can step aside if you don’t want. I have a debt to collect.” A tome appeared on Roz’s hand.
“I’m just kidding. Geez . . . can’t you take a hint that I just wanted you to beg a little?” Lira said, voice decreasing at the end before she readied her bow.
You’re not cure at all!
