Chapter 933 - Water-splitting Battlesword
Chapter 933 Water-splitting Battlesword
Zhang Yan was bullied so hard that she almost cried.
Fortunately for her, her corpse was still on the battlefield. Li Yi walked forward and placed his Cardiac Pacemaker on top of her chests, and after a jolt from the pacemaker, she was revived.
All she had lost was a little durability of her equipment, which would require a few Gold Coins to repair.
‘The Fire Winged One would explode moments after it had died. This was no secret, and any player who had faced it before would know. Only the weakest of the weak like Zhang Yan would likely be caught in such a trap…’
Sister Windcloud Nine was baffled. “Why… why did it explode?”
‘Yeah, she probably counts as one too…’
The Fire Winged One had dropped two pieces of equipment. The Wings of the Sky did not possess any equipment sets, and all of its loot would be random pieces of Level 200 equipment.
The two items that it had dropped were Magic-type Cloth Armor, and Li Yi handed them directly to the only user of a Cloth-armored Class in the party, Sister Windcloud Nine.
The party carried onward, and Li Yi had easily dispatched any monsterlings along the way. Half an hour later, the squad had reached the second boss.
The first boss’ name was the Fire Winged One, and the second was its direct opposite. It was called Water Winged One.
The entire battle would take place underwater, and although Water Winged One was also a bird-like humanoid, its speed underwater was double that of a fish.
This was a difficult battle, as the players would need to take note of two aspects, being underwater, and above water.
The Water Winged One would constantly remain underwater and would constantly secrete a special liquid that increased the density of the water. Should players dwell too long underwater, their body would start to sink, and in the end, they would drown.
The only way to solve this problem was to have a rope tied to the players’ waist. When the special liquid reached a certain threshold, the players underwater would tug the rope and have those who were above water pull them up. Then, the players would rid themselves of the special liquid.
Since the party consisted of ten players, at least 5 of them were required to stay on top of the little ship, so that they could save their drowning allies.
While the players below would receive damage, so too would the players on the ship. Since both sides could not see one another, the only way to succeed in the challenge was for both sides to cooperate.
During the initial release of the Wings of the Sky, the second boss, Water Winged One, alone had prevented the progress of at least 100 million players for a whole 2 days.
“The strategy to defeat Water Winged One is extremely complex. I think it’s better for everyone to watch some videos of it first.”
As there were many videos of players defeating the Water Winged One in the forum, Li Yi had decided to save his breath.
The ten players watched the same walkthrough video, and the one that had paid the most attention was none other than Sister Windcloud Nine, followed by Zhang Yan.
Sister Windcloud Nine was hugging her staff tightly, she had devoted her undivided attention to watching the video. Even though Li Yi had attempted to talk to her, she did not hear a single word he said.
Li Yi clapped his hands. “Alright, since we’ve already watched the video, why don’t you guys give your opinions on it.”
“I… I’d like to watch it again.” Sister Windcloud Nine raised her hand with her face flushed red.
Li Yi gave an honest reply, “It’s alright, you don’t need it.”
Sister Windcloud Nine turned even redder.
On the other hand, Zhang Yan was filled with confidence. “I don’t need to watch it anymore. I’ve already mastered the strategy. All I need to do is to pull up the rope when it vibrates, right? No problem.”
Li Yi pointed at Zhang Yan. “You’ll be heading underwater.”
Zhang Yan’s temper flared. “Why… why should I!?”
“My orders.”
“Li Yi, I’m warning you; you’re going way too far!” Zhang Yan was so mad that the rim of her eyes was already turning red.
“You’ll be above the water later, you too, and you’ll be underwater…”
Without sparing even a second glance at her, Li Yi had already begun to assign tasks.
In the end, Li Yi had assigned himself, Zhang Yan, and another three Violent Warriors to handle the underwater battle, whereas he had Sister Windcloud Nine and the four other Violent Warriors to pull the rope.
Although Zhang Yan was reluctant to carry her task out, it was not the time for her to argue. After all, if she were to disobey orders now, she would undoubtedly get kicked out.
“I’ll prove to you that I can do it!” Zhang Yan gave a mental howl. Her fighting spirit grew stronger the more Li Yi bullied her.
“Alright, dive!”
Splash! Splash! Splash!
After securing the rope around him, Li Yi headed into the water. Then, it was Zhang Yan’s turn. She gritted her teeth and followed behind Li Yi.
The Water Winged One was hidden deep underwater, and with a single shot of his arrow, he managed to lure it out.
“No one can stop the Winged Ruler’s revival! No one!”
The Water Winged One unloaded ten Water Arrows, and following Li Yi’s orders, everyone began to shake their ropes.
All five ropes had been shaken, but only four players had been successfully extracted. Zhang Yan was tragically left in her original spot, and when the ten Water Arrows had finally pierced her to death, the rope around her finally started being pulled. With an uneven force, Zhang Yan’s corpse was being dragged back.
Sister Windcloud Nine panicked. “I… I’m so sorry… My…my reaction speed is a bit lacking.”
“I hate you, Li Yi!” The moment Zhang Yan had learned that it was Sister Windcloud Nine who was handling her rope, she finally made sense of the situation.
“Loosen the ropes!”
Li Yi feigned ignorance and commanded the players above to loosen the ropes, allowing the underwater players to do combat once more.
Despite being one member down, the party’s combat prowess was not affected by the slightest. In truth, Li Yi’s overpowered equipment had made him a thirty-man army.
Zhang Yan’s techniques were average, and Sister Windcloud Nine was dead weight. As such, these two had made for a perfect pair. After all, their presence on the battlefield had made no difference at all.
The Water Winged One also had 1.5 billion HP, but the process of the battle was much more complicated than the Fire Winged One, as players would need to dive into and surface from the water at least ten times.
Under the Water Winged One’s aggressive attacks, the party members continuously died. Individual techniques were useless in the face of this boss, as a slight error in cooperation would still result in death.
While Li Yi had no difficulty handling the underwater battle, the same could not be said about the Violent Warrior that was handling his rope. Just as the Water Winged One had 50% HP left, Li Yi had tugged at his rope. However, as the Violent Warrior that was responsible for holding onto Li Yi was trying to dodge the incoming Water Arrows, he had accidentally let go of the rope.
With that, Li Yi immediately sunk into the depths of the water. He was forced to watch as the rope slowly descended underwater, and with it, Li Yi’s heart was set on fire.
“Hahaha….” Zhang Yan bawled out in laughter. One could not blame her for not supporting the team, however, as she finally had a chance to vent out the frustration of having Li Yi tease her prior to this.
Alas, Zhang Yan’s laughter had been cut short.
Li Yi used his Sacramental Stone to revive, which had also caused the special chemical that coated him to disappear. With the special chemical now gone, Li Yi hurriedly emerged out of the water and fastened his rope back onto the ship.
“Arghhhhhh…” Zhang Yan was pissed beyond measure.
A few minutes later, another two members on the ship had perished. At present, the only surviving members on board were Sister Windcloud Nine and a Violent Warrior called Crimson Madman.
Similarly, only two players remained underwater, everyone else had perished.
At present, there was still 47% of the Water Winged One’s HP remaining.
Woosh…woosh…woosh…
The Water Winged One sent volley after volley of Water Arrows, and the radius of its attacks had covered both above and underwater.
Whether it was luck or pure skill, no one knew, but by crouching down on the ship, Sister Windcloud Nine had somehow managed to evade all the shots. On the other hand, Crimson Madman had hopped around in an attempt to dodge as well, but after getting struck by seven arrows, he perished.
Sensing the situation was dire, and that he was about to die as well, he almost called it quits. However, it was then that Sister Windcloud Nine had rushed to his rope and pulled him back up.
Woosh…woosh…woosh…
All the arrows had missed, and Li Yi was back on the surface of the water.
“Good job!” Li Yi praised Sister Windcloud Nine as he gestured for her to loosen the rope.
As she was too excited, Sister Windcloud Nine maintained a constant grip on the rope and stood like a log. Even after Li Yi had made plenty of gestures at her, she remained motionless.
‘Man, she’s hopeless, ain’t she?’
As Li Yi continued to stare at Sister Windcloud Nine, he had even lost the strength to get mad.
“Let go! Let go!”
Zhang Yan, who had perished on board of the ship constantly shouted, which managed to bring Sister Windcloud Nine back to her senses. She loosened her grip on the ropes, and with a splash, Li Yi plunged back into the water.
“Shooting Star Arrow Hail!”
“Thud…thud…thud…”
“Water Clone!”
“Territory— Stinger Arrow!”
“Extermination Arrow!”
While Li Yi sunk, he unleashed all of his strongest skills. Although he had no clue whether he would manage to defeat the Water Winged One, he still needed to try, as he was the only remaining DPS.
Tch–
The Extermination Arrow landed directly onto the Water Winged One, and its remaining health was immediately blown away…
Since the Water Winged One’s HP was above 20% but below 30%, the Extermination Arrow had succeeded!
Just as Li Yi was about to reach the bottom of the water with a glad expression, the rope around him suddenly grew taut. Then, as he bobbed up and down, he gradually made his way back onto the surface.
It was only when Li Yi had made it out of the water that he noticed that Sister Windcloud Nine had tied several rounds of the rope onto one of her legs. Although she had let go of her grip earlier, the rope was still fastened to her leg.
The Water Winged One’s battle was now over, and the small party that Li Yi led had suffered eight casualties. Only two players survived, they were Sister Windcloud Nine and Li Yi.
The fact that the silly Sister Windcloud Nine had survived made Li Yi unsure whether to laugh or cry. It seemed that his perception of her needed some fine-tuning, as, in special circumstances, the silly girl could still contribute greatly.
Li Yi could resurrect those who had died on board, but it would take some time. However, he was powerless to save those who had sunk into the depths of the water. The only choice they had was to resurrect at the temple and run back over.
A silver treasure chest had appeared on the ship. It was a reward for slaying the boss.
“Alright, Missy Zhang, I have another difficult task for you. I need you to open the chest.”
“I refuse!” Zhang Yan took a few steps back as she shook her head vigorously. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me, as the trauma that she had experienced when the Fire Winged One exploded was still ingrained in her mind.
“Okay then, Sister Nine, you go instead.”
“Alright!”
Sister Windcloud Nine rubbed her hands and went ahead to open the silver chest.
[You have received the Winged Ruler’s blessing and have obtained +3 skill points. Your HP has increased by 1,000 points, and your INT has also increased by 250 points.]
[You have obtained a Water-splitting Battlesword from the chest.]
[You have obtained a Treasure Map (Purple Quality) from the chest.]
[You have obtained Wise Man’s Cape (Purple Quality) from the chest.]
…
Sister Windcloud Nine’s luck was unbelievable, as not only had she gotten three Purple Quality Items, she had even received the blessing of the Winged Ruler.
This result made Zhang Yan stomp her feet in anger.
In terms of the item distribution, the Wise Man’s Cape had been handed to Sister Windcloud Nine, while the Treasure Map and the Water-splitting Battlesword would be distributed through rolling.
The Purple Quality Treasure Map was not anything rare, and it could be obtained at an inexpensive price. As such, the item that piqued the Violent Warriors’ interest the most was the Level 200 Purple Quality Weapon, the Water-splitting Battlesword.
[Water-splitting Battlesword (Purple Quality, Epic)]
[Level Requirement: Level 200]
[+8000 – 30000 ATK]
[STR +1100]
[AGI +500]
[WIL +500]
[END +500]

[Fluctuation of Water (special effect): Has a 5% chance of unleashing a Water Ball when attacking normally.]
[Condensate (special skill): Temporarily raises ATK by 5 times. Can be targeted onto another player. Cooldown: 1 hour.]
…
From the looks of it, the weapon was undeniably one of the best weapons for a Violent Warrior to have.
Crimson Madman declared, “Everyone, I have a proposition. Will you guys allow me to pay 100,000 Gold Coins for this weapon?”
Zhang Yan retorted, “We don’t need money! Let’s just decided this through rolling!”
