Chapter 5056: Bringing Food
“Huh?”
Upon hearing this, Yue’er froze momentarily, then said anxiously, “Mother, Mother! Please don’t fight with Father! He’s been so kind to us—don’t bully him!”
Hearing this, Feng Jiu couldn’t help but chuckle softly. She gently pinched her little nose and teased, “So you know to protect your master now? Don’t you want to know who’s stronger—your father and mother, or your master?”
“Hmm…” Yue’er pondered for a moment, her eyes twinkling mischievously. “Father and Mother are the strongest. Master comes after them, but he’s still very strong too.”
“It’s good you know how to protect your master. That way, his kindness towards you won’t be in vain.” Feng Jiu chuckled softly, gently tapping her nose. She then addressed the three of them, “A man named Yuan Jing has arrived on the island to treat his eyes. Mother will help him refine the medicinal solution. You three can play on your own these days, but remember—play is play, yet don’t neglect your cultivation. Especially you.”
She looked at her daughter in her arms and added, “The Ancient Divine Whip your master gave you is a remarkable treasure. You must master its techniques thoroughly.”
“Yes, yes! Mother, rest assured. Yue’er will practice the whip techniques well!” She nodded eagerly.
“Mother, rest assured. We’ll keep an eye on our little sister and make sure she doesn’t get too carried away playing,” Hao’er added.
“Mother, I’ll work hard on my cultivation too,” Muchen said.
“Good, you’re all such good children—my precious treasures!” She smiled, gathering all three into her arms and kissing each one. Seeing their delighted yet bashful expressions, she couldn’t help but laugh.
“Alright, I must go now. If you want anything to eat, find Mi’er and she’ll cook for you. But remember—no sneaking off the Immortal Island.” She instructed.
“Yes, Mother.” The three answered in unison. Watching her depart, they headed straight for the martial arts training grounds.
For Yuan Jing, this was unfamiliar territory. Blind, he didn’t even know the way out of the courtyard. So, after the celestial maid brought him to the guest quarters, he hadn’t stepped outside once all day.
Being blind, even if he went out, he wouldn’t see the beauty of the celestial realm. He might even cause trouble for the Phoenix Empress. Since that was the case, why not just stay within this courtyard?
Until evening fell.
“Is this the place?”
Mi’er peered out, surveying the courtyard. As dusk deepened, she saw no lamps or fires lit within—only pitch darkness. The man named Yuan Jing sat there.
“Who’s there?” Yuan Jing’s voice carried a hint of surprise as he turned toward the sound. Though he could see nothing, he at least faced the direction of the voice.
“Oh, it’s me, Song Mi’er.” Mi’er entered, carrying the evening meal. “Why haven’t you lit any lamps here? It’s pitch black everywhere. I almost thought I’d wandered into the wrong guest quarters!” She placed the evening meal on the table.
“I’m blind. Lighting a lamp wouldn’t help me see,” Yuan Jing said gently. He stood up, bowed toward the front, and added, “Still, thank you for your kindness, young lady.”
Mi’er, who had already started walking toward the guest rooms, glanced back. Seeing him bowing toward an empty space, she couldn’t help but smile warmly. ” No need for such formalities. I’m in charge of meals on this island—I brought you dinner. Sit down and eat! I’ve placed it right before you.” With that, she headed toward the guest quarters, adding, “There’s a night pearl in the room. I’ll remove the covering cloth for you, and it’ll brighten things up a bit.”
