Chapter 6649: Cut the Nonsense
Little Fishy was horrified by Fei’s severe injuries. He had incurred these injuries while helping Chu Feng. She was worried that Chu Feng would feel guilty for life if something were to happen to Fei.
In contrast, Chu Feng looked much calmer.
Before he reached Fei, he had already formed a hand seal and thrust his palm forth, delivering a surge of spirit power toward Fei. It was a recovery formation; he had constructed it on the way here.
“Chu...” Fei belatedly noticed Chu Feng and Little Fishy, but he was so feeble that he couldn’t even call out Chu Feng’s name.
“Stay still.”
Chu Feng grabbed Fei’s wrist to feel his pulse.
Moments later, he frowned. Fei’s injuries were worse than he had expected.
He took out three pills and placed them in Fei’s mouth.
One of the pills was not a recovery pill. Instead, it contained a formation Chu Feng had constructed on his way here. Shortly after Fei took in the formation pill, his body began to convulse intensely.
Chu Feng quickly constructed another formation.
“Big brother, do you need my help?” Little Fishy asked.
“Don’t worry, Yu’er. I can handle it,” Chu Feng replied.
Fei stared at Chu Feng in confusion.
Chu Feng explained, “The signalling stones are imbued with location formations. I can sense where you are as long as you’re within a certain radius. Elder Long Mucheng told me you have left, but I sensed you were in a neighboring realm. I knew right away that you must have sustained severe injuries but were too obstinate to weep in front of the others.”
“I-I di... didn't...” Fei’s face reddened in embarrassment. He tried his best to deny it, but he was so weak that he couldn’t even complete his sentence.
“Don’t be so obstinate. Your pride can’t be more important than staying alive,” Chu Feng said with a sigh. He turned to Little Fishy and said, “Yu’er, I’ll need you to step back. Don’t come in, no matter what happens, or else it’ll undermine the formation and endanger both Fei and me.”
“All right.” Little Fishy nodded as she backed off into the distance.
Chu Feng grandly flung his sleeves. An even larger formation enveloped him and Fei. He changed his hand seal.
“GAHHHH!!!”
Fei’s body levitated into the air, as his mouth, eyes, and ears began emitting a searing red aura. The red aura hissed aggressively like a feral beast, but it was currently being contained by Chu Feng’s spirit power.
There were only two targets that the red aura could attack now—Fei and Chu Feng.
So, the aura charged at Chu Feng, but the latter allowed it to enter his body without struggling. Soon, his body turned fiery red as if someone had set him ablaze. Even his skin began to crack.
“Big brother!”
Little Fishy panicked. She rushed forward to help Chu Feng, only to quickly halt her footsteps when she recalled his earlier words. He had asked her not to intervene, which meant that he had anticipated this situation and had a plan.
In truth, she wouldn’t know what to do even if she charged forward. Her inability to help him made her feel terribly helpless. She felt like someone was shredding her heart as she saw the excruciating pain he was put through.
Just then, Chu Feng turned around and looked at Little Fishy. He didn’t seem to be in pain. He even grinned, revealing his gleaming, white teeth.
“I’m fine, Yu’er. Such minor burns feel like nothing more than a cozy campfire to me.”
He turned around right after saying those words. Had he moved any slower, Little Fishy would have seen him gritting his teeth.
“Brother Fei, how are you able to tolerate this? This is unbearable,” Chu Feng asked Fei via voice transmission.
Fei looked at Chu Feng. He wanted to say something, but he couldn’t squeeze a word out.
“I hope you don’t mind me, Fei. I’ll assume that silence means consent,” Chu Feng said.
While Fei was making sense of those words, Chu Feng opened his mouth wide, and a concentrated surge of aura flowed out from his mouth. The aura was green, but it harnessed frost energy.
The frost energy was immediately devoured by the searing energy, but the green aura still flowed into Fei’s body intact.
Chu Feng changed his hand seal, and more red aura flowed into his body.
Fei finally understood what was going on.
Chu Feng had seen through his injuries.
Fei had used a forbidden skill to set his bloodline ablaze. It granted him a burst of strength, but the flames couldn’t be suppressed. The only thing he could do was to withstand the flame with his body, or else his bloodline would continue burning until it was vaporized.
Chu Feng understood that the only way to help Fei was to help him absorb the flame in his bloodline. It might look like his formation was intended to heal Fei, but in truth, it served as a barrier to stop Fei’s bloodline power from dissipating into the surroundings.
The formation pill he had fed Fei facilitated the extraction of Fei’s bloodline from his body, so that he could absorb the searing energy from Fei’s bloodline and channel the cleansed bloodline back into Fei’s body.
The method was effective. Despite having only cleansed a small portion of his bloodline power, Fei had regained his speech.
“You can’t, Chu Feng! You’ll die like that. You don’t know how fearsome the searing energy is. That isn’t something you can absorb with your body!” Fei exclaimed.
No one knew better than him how terrifying the searing energy was. Chu Feng would burn to death at this rate!
But Chu Feng ignored Fei’s persuasion and said, “Cut the crap.”
He changed his hand seal and opened his mouth again, releasing another surge of cleansed bloodline power back into Fei’s body.
Fei was surprised. Chu Feng was sturdier than he had expected. However, he still couldn’t accept Chu Feng saving him in such a manner.
“This won’t do. Your bloodline and soul will be impaired even if you survive this ordeal. It’ll affect your future cultivation!” Fei exclaimed.
“You’re still prattling?” Chu Feng snorted.
“Chu Feng...”
Chu Feng coldly interjected, “Cut the crap and focus.”
“You...”
Fei didn’t know what else to say. He looked at Chu Feng with a conflicted expression.
Xian Miaomiao had told him a lot about Chu Feng, including secrets no one else knew. In truth, he wasn’t interested in Chu Feng at all. He was only listening out of respect for Xian Miaomiao.
In fact, he had only come to help Chu Feng because he had been around Song Changsheng for too long and wanted to catch a breather.
Yet, Chu Feng was putting his life on the line to save him.
Despite his attempts to talk Chu Feng out of it, the latter ignored him and obstinately continued. He could feel Chu Feng’s sincerity.
Rumors were ultimately rumors. It was a different matter to experience it in person. Before this, he would have never thought that Chu Feng would put his life on the line for someone he barely knew.
What Chu Feng, Fei, and Little Fishy didn’t know was that someone else was hiding in the area, spying on them.
