Chapter 183 – Aowu (It wasn’t me.) (1)
Before Qing Ruyi left, she pulled Ruan Qiuqiu to the entrance of the cave to talk. Touching the wooden door, she felt it was rather novel. “I didn’t expect your wolf pup husband to have such craftsmanship.”
Ruan Qiuqiu was amused by the words “wolf pup husband”. She gently rubbed the blood stain on the edge of the wooden door. It reminded her of that night when she had a high fever that wouldn’t go away.
Seeing Ruan Qiuqiu’s expression, Qing Ruyi could tell Ruan Qiuqiu’s attitude towards Yuan Jue. She hesitated before probingly asking, “Qiuqiu, how do you think that wolf pup treats you?”
Ruan Qiuqiu was caught off guard by this question. Surprised and strangely embarrassed, she answered, “He’s a good person…”
She hadn’t interacted with Yuan Jue much when he was conscious, and his words were few. She couldn’t guess what he thought of her. Did he find her pitiful or was he thankful for the critical care she provided him? Was there some other reason he let her stay in his cave? She really didn’t know.
Her original goal was to find a temporary place to take shelter. Treating the infamous gray wolf was just incidental. But now, her goal had shifted.
Qing Ruyi caught a glimpse of her red ear tips. She sighed and wanted to say something but gave up on voicing that thought after thinking about it. She took out a glimmering, translucent willow leaf from her pocket and stuffed it in Ruan Qiuqiu’s hand.
“I’m leaving. If he forces you, crush this leaf and Grandma will rush over,” Qing Ruyi very seriously guaranteed.
Ruan Qiuqiu: “…”
She was a bit dumbfounded by Grandma Ruyi’s kind intentions.
What would Yuan Jue force her to do? Force her to eat dinner? Or force her to…
Ruan Qiuqiu’s face heated up as her mind went into the gutter. By the time she returned to her senses and squeezed the slightly cold willow leaf in her hand, Qing Ruyi had already left.
The snow was still falling outside, and the cold wind burrowed its way into the cave through the gap in the open door.
Ruan Qiuqiu put the sparkling and translucent willow leaf in her pocket and closed the wooden door.
It was only after sending away Grandma Ruyi, that she noticed the changes in the cave.
The amount of wood piled up at the entrance of the cave had dwindled again. Ruan Qiuqiu walked to the storage room and found a large barrel and two basins.
The barrel was half-filled with clean snow. The wooden basins looked like they had been smoothed out with something sharp, and there was almost no chance at getting splinters from touching it. They could be used directly.
This must be the handiwork of gray wolf Tianluo.
Ruan Qiuqiu had been thinking they didn’t have enough basins at home, but now there was enough.
She fed Yuan Jue first, and then she fetched water for washing and cleaned herself and the wolf.
It was a quick clean up for herself. She wasn’t too dirty. Cleaning up the wolf took a long time however.
The red robe she had made for him was already stained with blood, and there were wood shavings sticking onto his robe from melted snow. She could see the fiend marks on his body that Grandma Ruyi had mentioned to her. Grandma Ruyi said this was a byproduct of the fiend energy beginning its take over. If his condition became more serious, these fiend marks would tear apart his skin and unsightly scales or a greyish black hide with bumps would regrow in place of his skin.
Fortunately, the amount of fiend marks on Mr. Gray Wolf was sparse and would quickly disappear after appearing.
Ruan Qiuqiu wiped his soft and furry ears and his black hair, which had been soaked in sweat and snow, with hot water.
Since there wasn’t enough animal skin, Ruan Qiuqiu cut the soft wool that Little Bohe had given her into pieces. Two pieces were made into pillows, and the rest were used as towels.
After applying medicine to Mr. Gray Wolf and dressing him in black animal skin clothing, Ruan Qiuqiu checked his temperature. She slowly sighed in relief when she found his temperature was fairly normal.
