Chapter 83
At the Amusing Plate Patisserie…
Xuan Shu was sitting behind the desk with a darkened expression in her face. Looking at the complaint letters and notices from the sanitary and employment bureaus, she knew that it was over. She didn’t have any chance to save their family business.
What’s more a letter came informing them the land where their shop was built was already sold to a private company. That left them with no choice but to sell their shop to the new owner as there was a plan to build a shopping mall in the area.
All the shops beside them had been sold and evicted and soon, they had to follow. They only have two weeks to get themselves pack and get out of the place.
Meng Jiao was still trying to comprehend the contents of the letter in her hands. The word evicted kept echoing on her mind. Being the shop manager of the Amusing Plate Patisserie, this could also mean she’d lost her job and the only source of income.
How will she support her study at Silver Leaf if she doesn’t have a job? She was also two months pregnant with Gong Yijun’s child but her lover had refused to marry her and was still eager to get back with Lu Xinyi.
The grim on her face was a giveaway how disappointed she was in her situation. If only she knew this would happen, she shouldn’t have help Yijun get the recipes from Lu Xinyi and kept it all by herself. Of course, she knew how important the recipe books for Lu Xinyi, too bad though that those books were in Yuan Jin’s hands for safekeeping.
Xuan Shu and Meng Jiao were busy trying to figure out what would be their next plan when Gong Yijun suddenly rushed on the office, startling the two women. The moment he entered the room, he broke whatever his hands reached, breaking several decorations in his rage.
“Yijun! What’s wrong with you?” Xuan Shu asked worriedly. She hadn’t seen her son upset like this for ages. She put down the letters in her hands.
“I was terminated from work!” Gong Yijun hissed, throwing his arms in the air. “My promotion was suddenly canceled and the management released me without giving me proper answers as to why. I don’t know who did it and I don’t know what to do anymore.” ρꪖꪕᦔꪖꪕꪫꪣꫀꪶ
Xuan Shu’s blanched in horror. Her son was agitated enough and had no idea what to do. If her son’s future had been affected like this, she will have to kiss goodbye for a good life she’d been praying.
“What? Who dares to do such a thing to you?” she complained.
“I don’t know. I have several friends and colleagues about it but their mouth was shut and wouldn’t say anything.”
Xuan Shu then remembered something.
“That bitch! I’m sure it was Lu Xinyi’s fault!” Xuan Shu slammed her fists on top of the desk, her eyes filled with hatred. “She probably used her boy toy to get even to us!”
Gong Yijun thought for a while and remembered the night when the man warned him not to bother Lu Xinyi anymore. Was it possible that Lu Xinyi really married such an influential man? What if she was that man’s kept woman?
“Don’t worry, mother. I’ll try to find out who’s behind this. If Lu Xinyi was really the one who made me lose my job, I’ll never forgive her!”
Hearing about it, Xuan Shu was relieved that her son wasn’t disheartened from what happened. As long as Yijun can come back to his feet and stable his profession as a financial analyst, she will never have to worry about their future.
Meng Jiao who was listening silently to the mother and son’s conversation cupped her chin and was deep in her thoughts. No, there was a big possibility that Lu Xinyi wasn’t joking when she declared that she married that rich and handsome businessman. It was also possible that she had requested this favor to her husband to take revenge to Gong Yijun and his mother.
Her eyes squinted. How could Lu Xinyi kept being lucky while she always found herself in disadvantage? There were still three months before the Silver Leaf’s annual entrance examination. If she passed the exam, she had no choice but to abort the baby from her womb. Taking a quick glance at her lover, she was starting to think that she wouldn’t have a bright future if she stayed at Yijun’s side.
