Chapter 300
A woman came rushing down the hallway, pushing her way through the crowd and trying to see if she could talk with her mistress before another problem comes their way. Chen Anqi excused herself and apologized when she bumped into another employee as she took the lift.
Sun Mingai and her son were about to arrive without notice. Chen Anqi could assume that this was because of Lu Xinyi’s appearance on media and magazines. They had expected her to come back from abroad, but she arrived sooner. That old witch hated Sun Feiyan and Lu Xinyi down to the core.
The old witch had treated her Miss Feiyan with an iron fist, controlling her every move and reminding her of what she’d become after removing Lu Xinyi from the scene. If only she knew how Sun Feiyan despised her, she wouldn’t even dare to step within this building.
“Miss Feiyan!”
“Why are you in such a rush?” Sun Feiyan’s cold voice soothed her with such calmness.
Even with troubles coming her way, Chen Anqi couldn’t help but be amazed by her mistress’s self-control. She’d never seen Sun Feiyan out of control and vulnerable.
Chen Anqi found her mistress sitting at the edge of her desk, flipping a page of a contract in her hands. Ye Xingjie, Sun Feiyan’s personal bodyguard, leaned on the wall with his eyes closed. She closed the door behind her and slowly took steps towards Sun Feiyan.
“Your Aunt Mingai is here,” she whispered but was loud enough for Sun Feiyan to hear.
“So I heard. There’s nothing to worry about, Anqi. That woman can bark all she wants.” Sun Feiyan reassured her.
Not long after Chen Anqi arrived, the woman they’ve been waiting for announced her presence.
“President Sun, your aunt wishes to speak with you.” Another secretary of Sun Feiyan stepped inside the office to inform her.
“Let her in,” Sun Feiyan replied without taking her attention away from the papers she was reading.
A woman in her late forties stepped inside with a tall man following behind her. Sun Mingai scrutinized Sun Feiyan’s office as if trying to find fault in the younger woman. Her face that had been as fresh as any spring petal years ago now looked dry and unhealthy. Her hair, once russet brown with waves, was now a practical short length and, for the most part, silvery-white.
Sun Feiyan lifted her head and glanced at her aunt. The years had taken a toll; no longer was it a youth looking back at her but a worn, older woman. Did her aunt lose all those fortunes she’d taken with her years ago? Now she came back to leech for more.
“Feiyan, I see that you’re doing well running the company,” Sun Mingai commented.
Unlike Sun Ruying, Sun Mingai emitted an aura of a queen who’d lost her glory. Her eyes gleamed with jealousy and greed, something that Sun Feiyan was aware of. For Sun Mingai, Lu Xinyi wasn’t the only obstacle on her path to get the Sun fortune… but Sun Feiyan as well. ρꪖꪕᦔꪖꪕꪫꪣꫀꪶ
Sun Feiyan had been promoted as the new president of the Sun Corporation, toppling down her other cousin on their positions.
“Welcome back, Auntie. Did you give Grandpa a call? I’m sure he’ll be happy to see you.” Sun Feiyan tried to deflect her aunt’s motive. She brought down the paper she was reading and greeted her unwanted visitor.
Sun Mingai threw her clutch at the couch and sat in an unladylike manner. Chen Anqi was about to say something to her, but Sun Feiyan stopped her with a glare. She could not protect Chen Anqi in case Sun Mingai took it out on her.
“That old man can wait. Now, tell me, Feiyan. What are you doing? I’ve seen that woman’s face in a magazine,” she said in gritted teeth. The man who was accompanying her kept his silence and stood aside.
The older woman’s forehead was wrinkled by many peaks and trenches—caused by years of consistent scowling. Unflatteringly crowned eyes permanently harbored a disdainful glare, shadowing their beautifully unique shade of deep brown.
Her entire face seemed drained of any signs of joy and amusement. Instead, her frumpy cheeks told her tale of displeasure.
“I assure you, Auntie. Lu Xinyi will never step back inside our estate,” Sun Feiyan said flatly. If she had a choice, she would kick this old woman’s ass back to where she came from. She needed not to be told what to do and how to decide.
“Yes, yes, you should. You wouldn’t want Lu Xinyi to get and enjoy everything you have right now, my dear niece.” Sun Mingai hissed back before gesturing at Chen Anqi. “Hey, you. Get me something to drink.”.
Chen Anqi threw a worried glance at her boss before leaving the room. Sun Mingai could not hurt her Miss Feiyan while Ye Xingjie was around. She trusted that the man would protect her miss from that gold-digging murderer.
Yes, a murderer. Sun Mingai had previously killed her other siblings because of her greed and jealousy.
Chen Anqi hurried with her actions, eager to come back to Sun Feiyan’s side. When she was about to open the door, she heard a loud crash inside the office. Opening the door, she was caught off-guard, seeing the old woman slapping Sun Feiyan’s face.
Ye Xingjie stepped forward and held Sun Mingai’s wrist as she tried to hit Sun Feiyan’s face again. He pushed her away from Sun Feiyan, making sure enough space was between them.
“You think you can do whatever you want now, Feiyan?” Sun Mingai chuckled, “Enjoy all of these, girl. In the end, you have to pay the price for being a Sun.”
“Leave her be, Xingjie,” Sun Feiyan said nonchalantly while holding her reddened cheek. “I’m fine,”
“She’s threatening you.” His cold baritone voice echoed within the room.
“It doesn’t matter. I have my priorities straight.”
