Chapter 243
“Such spectacular acting, Xinxin. I didn’t know you have a hidden talent aside for cooking.” Shen Yi rejoiced at how easy it was for his wife to turn the tide against her enemy. His pride for his wife grew more as he watched her defeat her enemies one at a time.
He couldn’t be prouder at how she put up herself with anyone who dared to obstruct her way. Nothing was more beautiful than a confident woman who didn’t take bullsh*ts from anyone.
How could he compare her to other women when she’d set her standards high and would never settle for less?
“Dear, you just have to believe in me. I will never allow anyone to talk bad about our family.” Lu Xinyi winked at him.
“You do know that she wouldn’t give up so easily… not until she defeats you this afternoon.”
“As if! I will poke the eyes of any woman who dare to look your way! I’ll make her remember my name.” Lu Xinyi scoffed and resumed her walking towards the main kitchen of Grace Palace. With Shen Yi being her sous chef for today, they still needed to settle the preparation of ingredients they’d use.
—
Shen Yi stared at his reflection at the mirror. This was his first time wearing a chef’s uniform, and it made him feel conscious about how his wife would react to it. Would she be pleased with what she would see? He hoped so.
Today, he would be acting as Lu Xinyi’s sous chef. She had given him a crash course in the kitchen, and fortunately, he didn’t need to cook anything else—except making sure that the cooking time was accurate, and the ingredients to be used were fresh and of the best quality above all.
Lu Xinyi pushed him inside the room and told him to get ready before the competition starts. When she first told him that he would be her sous chef, Shen Yi wondered if his little wife was playing some tricks on him.
He couldn’t wait for this competition to finish. It had been a week, and Lu Xinyi had deprived him immensely. It was already hard for him to keep his hands away from her, but because they had to prepare ahead for this event, Lu Xinyi was already exhausted and dead asleep as soon as her head hit her pillows at night.
In his opinion, he didn’t look so bad in it. It felt like he was wearing a costume for a special occasion. It was just he wasn’t used on wearing a uniform aside from his business suits and casual dress shirts. At least, Lu Xinyi hadn’t forced him to wear something so degrading.
There was a sudden knock on his door and heard Lu Xinyi’s voice. “Are you ready?”
“Come in. I’m done.”
Lu Xinyi opened the door and stepped inside without giving him a glance. She closed the door silently before turning her body to face her husband. She was surprised to see Shen Yi wearing the chef’s uniform she gave to him earlier.
It never crossed her mind that her husband could be this handsome. If she thought that Shen Yi was charming and good-looking enough, she hadn’t seen him wearing Grace Palace’s chef uniform. She hadn’t thought that his beauty was so unparalleled. ρꪖꪕᦔꪖꪕꪫꪣꫀꪶ
Wait. Was it even the right words to describe Shen Yi?
“How do I look?”
The blank expression on Lu Xinyi’s face had made Shen Yi worried. Lu Xinyi blinked several times before it dawned to her what his question was.
“You look… okay.” She stammered, trying to catch her breath while smiling awkwardly.
Shen Yi was handsome—that was for sure. He possessed the most intelligent and mysterious countenance that most women found attractive. Oh, how troublesome. It was troublesome being the wife of President Shen, but Lu Xinyi would have him no other way.
“Just okay?” He couldn’t tell if Lu Xinyi liked it or not.
Seeing his perplexed expression, Lu Xinyi chuckled and stepped closer to him and adjusted the buttons on his collar.
“You look good in everything.” She assured him.
“Even between the sheets?” He teased. He enjoyed the way how her pale skin turned scarlet, spreading from her cheeks to the side of her ears and down to her neck.
Shen Yi reveled at the thought that he was still able to make his wife blush like this. Would she stay like this after being married to him when years come and go?
Finding her husband as a flirtatious and arrogant bastard that he was, Lu Xinyi wasn’t blind to see that he treated her better than the rest. It was like she was seeing a different kind of Shen Yi, Shen Yi that only she knew. She wasn’t blind to his flaws… his arrogance was one thing; same with his ruthlessness and secretive behavior. However, for her, he wasn’t a knight in shining armor who saved her from herself.
“You’re such a pervert sometimes, you know that?”
Shen Yi nodded. “Wait until we get to our room, and we shall see if you’re still gonna complain about my perverted ways.”
Lu Xinyi shook her head and released a breath. She failed not to roll her eyes when she saw the smirk on his lips.
“It’s so troublesome being your wife. You have a twisted idea on how to be romantic.”
Shen Yi tilted his head on his right, confused on what was she meant.
“Are you still worried about that woman?” He took her hands with his one hand while the other one caressed her cheek lovingly.
“You must understand that while Lu Xinyi forever belongs to Shen Yi…” His eyes held hers, letting her see how deeply she affected him. “This one… this Shen Yi that holds you right now… only belongs to you.”
