Chapter 228
She was breathless; her cheeks flushed red when he released her. He’d been wanting to do it since she passed her exams, but knowing that they were in public, Shen Yi held and reined in his passion for his wife, waiting until she was back safely in his arms.
“Is that my reward for passing?” Lu Xinyi teased.
Shen Yi smirked. Of course, he had a better reward this time. If he failed the first time, he made sure that this reward would surely make his little wife happy.
“Of course not. Wait until tomorrow. I will give it to you.” His nose gently brushed against her cheek and then down to her neck, the wife enjoying the slight shudder he instilled on her. Lu Xinyi froze when she felt his breath on her neck.
Shen Yi bent over her, his fingers gently removing a stray hair away from her face. His fingertips ghosted over her cheek, still surprising him at how she felt right next beside him. Her grumbling stomach snapped him out from his thoughts.
“What’s wrong?” he asked as she averted her gaze on him.
“Can we get something to eat?” Lu Xinyi bit her lip while tracing the hem of her uniform. “I’m starving,” she confessed. She hadn’t eaten anything since the exams started, and her hunger only intensified when she woke up at Zhao Xi’s office.
“Of course, dear. Anything for you.”
Shen Yi shook his head. Oh, he really had to get used on being the second place in her heart.
—
For the first time since they got married, Shen Yi and Lu Xinyi had a private dinner in a popular restaurant within the city.
“Table for two. In private.” Shen Yi requested. The restaurant staff was startled and gaped with their sudden arrival. Shen Yi was one of their VIP guests, and it was known to them that he hated waiting for too long.
“You sure know how to silence a crowd, my love.” Lu Xinyi grinned and nudged her husband’s side.
“At least, they’re working fast now.”
It was also Lu Xinyi’s first time in an expensive one so she fidgeted on her seat as they waited for their dinner. However, her nervousness dispersed as soon as the waitress tried to flirt with Shen Yi. Shen Yi inwardly sighed. This woman must be new for she didn’t know how to assist them.
“What can I get you for tonight?” The woman smiled sweetly to Shen Yi. “Would you like to try our specials?”
Shen Yi didn’t reply but looked across the table to ask Lu Xinyi. “What would you like?”
“Confit de canard and Chocolate soufflé.” Lu Xinyi answered. She was excited to have a taste of the dish she hadn’t tried yet, but she wasn’t as thrilled with the Chocolate Souffle since it was one of the popular desserts she was familiar with. She sided a glance to the waitress who slightly frowned at her.
Lu Xinyi raised a brow. This woman surely couldn’t get a clear hint from Shen Yi. “What about you, honey?” ρꪖꪕᦔꪖꪕꪫꪣꫀꪶ
“I’ll just have Salade niçoise and bring us a bottle of Pinot Noir.” He chose to have a light meal, for tonight for he knew that there would be a celebration for his wife’s winning the next day.
Lu Xinyi turned to the waitress. “I think that’s all. We’ll call you if we need something else.”
The woman took away the menus, bowed quickly, and left. Once she was out of their sight, Lu Xinyi snorted before taking a sip from her drink.
“Dear, I think you broke her heart. You just ignored her.”
“What made her think that I have the slightest interest in her?” Shen Yi retorted.
“Do you think she’ll also sabotage my meal?”
“She wouldn’t do that if she likes her job.”
“What happened to Miss Tong?” Lu Xinyi asked while waiting for their orders to be served. Shen Yi shrugged.
“Out of the city. Probably reaping what she sow.”
“She’s out of Silver Leaf?”
“Chairman Han wouldn’t let her stay. Since you weren’t the only one whose items were switched by her, they are making follow-up investigations to know if she has other accomplices within the academy.”
The waitress returned with two wine glasses and a bottle of Pinot Noir. She leaned in deeply as she poured Shen Yi’s drink, revealing her cleavage to Shen Yi. Lu Xinyi mentally rolled her eyes.
‘Oh, please. As if Shen Yi can be seduced like that!’ she thought.
With not much reaction she was expecting from Shen Yi, the woman straightened her back and glared at Lu Xinyi. Lu Xinyi met her glare with the same intensity. She didn’t appreciate women seducing her husband—especially in front of her. She wondered if this was something she should get used to as Shen Yi’s wife.
“We are here to eat. Not to do sightseeing. Did you enjoy giving my husband your best view?” Lu Xinyi smiled devilishly.
The woman’s expression changed from disdain into terror. She quickly bid goodbye and bowed before rushing back to the hole where she came from. Her figure followed by Lu Xinyi’s eyes.
“I did not think you will do that,” Shen Yi amusedly commented.
Lu Xinyi gave him a wink. “Some women need to be reminded of their rightful places. If the man is married, he’s clearly out of the question.”
Shen Yi shifted his chair and moved closer to her. He looked at her with half-lidded eyes. “Remind me to bring out this side of you again.”
“Shouldn’t it be ‘not to bring’?”
“That would be if I didn’t enjoy what you did to her. That was good.”
Lu Xinyi eyed him for a moment. “You’re such one weird guy.” She feigned disappointment on her husband.
“But you still love me nevertheless.”
