Chapter 2779: Where’s the Risk?

A gorgeous lady with crescent eyes and pink cheeks stood by the doorway.

She wore an extravagant blue damask[1] shirt with leopard skin at the collars. Such clothes would have appeared excessive on most women, but not her. On the contrary, it felt as if only such luxurious clothes were worthy of her beauty.

Zu An swiftly realized she was Guo Jing and Huang Rong’s oldest daughter, Guo Fu. It was commonly said that she had inherited her father’s head and her mother’s beauty.

Guo Fu’s mind had frozen up. She'd come here to scout the situation, curious to know why her parents had called her siblings but not her. She hadn’t expected to stumble upon this sight as soon as she opened the door.

Firework was sitting on Zu An’s body, her hands pinning down his. As there was no longer a vast disparity in their strength, she needed to exert her full force to keep him in place. As a result, their bodies were pressed against each other. Their faces were so close to each other that it looked as if they would kiss the next second.

What are they doing? I thought Xiang’er liked Yang Guo?

Maybe she’s feeling lonely from years of failing to court Yang Guo, so she's seeking other men for company. But most men don’t even catch her eye, so she must have decided to go for her little brother instead.

Countless thoughts surged into Guo Fu’s mind, causing her already dull brain to stall to a halt.

Firework and Zu An had been too busy fighting to pay heed to their positions. It was only when they saw Guo Fu’s horrified expression that they realized how inappropriate their current posture was.

Firework suddenly became aware of Zu An’s air of masculinity. His heat was palpable even through their clothes.

Meanwhile, Zu An clearly felt Firework’s shapely and youthful body. Even though Firework had never shied away from physical contact, this was the first time they had gotten into such an intimate posture.

The two of them quickly backed off. Firework awkwardly tidied her clothes and hair. “This rascal refused to listen to me. I was teaching him a lesson.”

She looked at Zu An tauntingly. “Do you submit?”

Zu An harrumphed. “Of course not. We’ll have a rematch another day.”

Despite his words, he was impressed with Firework. Her grasp of combat was at a transcendent level. Their brief clash had taught him much more than his fights with other experts.

Firework was also impressed by Zu An. She had spent some time with him now, and that gave her a good grasp of his strength. Even though he had several interesting skills, she hadn’t thought he was much of a fighter, especially considering his low cultivation.

While this world forbade supernatural powers, it wasn't as if she had been born strong. She had climbed a step at a time, undergoing countless life-and-death battles before she finally reached her current level. Her higher cultivation also granted her a deeper insight into the utilization of strength.

She'd thought that she could easily subdue Zu An even without tapping into her supernatural powers, but the battle turned out to be a surprisingly close one. How long has it been since I had such a tough battle?

Looking at how composed those two were, Guo Fu’s face reddened. How can I think of my siblings in such a light? What a sin! But she wasn't the type to admit her mistakes, so she put on a stern appearance and reprimanded them. “You aren’t young anymore. You should watch your boundaries even when fighting with each other. What if others see you like that?”

Firework’s eyebrows shot up. A mere ant dares talk to me like that?

Zu An quickly stepped in to clear the air. “Big sister, what brings you here?” He was worried Firework would murder Guo Fu in a moment of recklessness. That would turn their mission into hell mode.

“I heard that father and mother called you over. Did something happen? Why didn’t they call me as well?” Guo Fu sounded displeased.

“We made a breakthrough recently, so father and mother called us over to review our martial arts,” Zu An explained. “Big sister, are you interested in training? Shall I talk to them on your behalf?”

“Forget it.” Guo Fu waved her hand, not wanting to suffer by practicing martial arts. Zu An’s explanation had dispelled her curiosity. Worried that her younger siblings would see through her cowardice, she put on her big sisterly airs and instructed, “If you want to spar, do it in the training field. It’s unseemly to fight in the bedroom.”

She turned around and left, but Zu An hurriedly asked, “Big sister, where’s brother-in-law?”

“He’s too busy dealing with the Beggar Sect’s[2] affairs to accompany me. How annoying,” Guo Fu grumbled before leaving.

Firework asked, “Why did you suddenly ask about our brother-in-law?”

Someone who could grow to her extent couldn’t possibly be dumb. She was already getting into the flow of things. She knew Zu An wouldn’t ask an insignificant question.

Zu An hesitated, but considering they were in the same boat, he figured he should still share critical intelligence. “Our brother-in-law is Yelu Qi. His father, Yelu Chucai, was a member of the Liao royal family. When the Liao Country fell, they were left to wander the world. Yelu Chucai later became a powerful Mongolian official, wielding influence comparable to a prime minister.”

Firework was taken aback. “You’re saying they'll betray Great Song to join the Mongols?”

Zu An shook his head. “I don’t know. This is a world created by the Deity of Death, so it might not necessarily follow the trajectory of history. Yelu Qi doesn’t exist in real history, either.”

“That can’t be said for sure. You’re a Memory worshiper, so you should be well-versed with the tricks Time Scribes use. When a character doesn’t appear in history, they're either unimportant, or have been erased for some reason,” Firework sneered.

Zu An was also perplexed as to where the true danger was. The plan didn’t look too difficult to pull off, so it was baffling to him why everyone who came before him had failed.

Does the trial have nothing to do with whether the Heavenly Sword and Dragon Slaying Saber Plan succeeds? Or is there some compelling reason causing the plan to fail?

He racked his brain and concluded that the biggest threat was the Yelu Family. Yelu Chucai had to have contributed greatly to the Mongols to have become such a powerful official in the future.

The Yelu Family’s close ties with the Guo Family made it likely for them to learn about the Heavenly Sword and Dragon Slaying Saber Plan. In fact, Zu An even suspected Guo Fu’s motive for probing them for information.

Guo Jing and Huang Rong had secretly called them over to not alert Guo Fu, yet she'd still learned about it. Did Yelu Qi instigate her to gather information from the Guo Family, and she foolishly did so without knowing she was being exploited?
