Chapter 2755: Main Body
Chapter 2755: Main Body
“She devours their souls?” Isabella’s face paled in fright.
Zu An was disappointed. “Your Dream Clan’s ability is to weave dreams? So, it’s all fake?”
He'd come here to find ways to help Chu Chuyan and Mi Li, as well as to see if there was a way he could reunite with the ancient Mermaid Queen and the Goddess of Wu Mountain. If the Dream Clan was only capable of weaving dreams, that wouldn’t solve his problems. What was the point of only finding solutions in his dreams?
Firework indignantly retorted, “Dreamweaving isn’t meaningless. It comforts wounded souls and brings peace and solace to those who have been through too much. Our dreams also guide one toward the future they seek.”
Zu An narrowed his eyes. “Your dreams can guide one toward a certain future?”
At this point, Isabella interjected, “Big brother Zu, I have heard about their ability and even asked my father about it. Their ability is indeed extraordinary. It is on par with powerful divination methods. They first ascertain the outcome before influencing causality toward it.”
Fearing her explanation was too vague, she listed an example, “If the Dream Clan declares that someone is going to die, that person’s enemies might be compelled to do everything they can to kill them. Or if the clan declares that someone is going to live, even if that person is terminally ill, they might encounter all kinds of fortuitous encounters that will eventually save their life.”
“How mysterious...” Zu An wasn't unfamiliar with such divination methods. His ‘Keyboard Come’ turned his declarations into reality. He asked the crucial question, “Can you fulfill all dreams?”
“Of course not,” Firework replied bitterly. “That demoness would have been dead by now if it were that easy. We can only guide a person’s dream, and the process will consume one’s karma. The greater the wish, the more karma is required. Furthermore, if one fails to fulfill the dream, one will suffer a severe backlash.”
Zu An nodded. It was the same for ‘Keyboard Come’; it was just that he hadn’t figured out what the standard for quantification was.
“What is karma?” he asked. He wondered if ‘Keyboard Come’ depleted a similar resource. If he could make sense of this, he could better control ‘Keyboard Come’ and not risk disintegration each time.
Firework explained, “Many believe that karma is about doing good and accruing virtue, but heaven is dispassionate. In truth, kindness may carry no karma, whereas committing evil deeds like going on a massacre may result in a lot of karma. Karma is generated based on whether one's deeds are beneficial to the world.
“If an Annihilation worshiper goes on a massacre on an overpopulated and overdeveloped planet, this might seem like an evil deed, but from the world’s point of view, it is considered a good deed.”
Zu An fell into deep thought. These words had opened his eyes, as he had never considered things from that perspective. It reminded him of the concept of ‘heaven’s will’, which the people of the Cultivation World often talked about. It wasn't necessarily tangible, but it most definitely existed.
If a world can possess a will, how can an entire universe not possess a will, too? Perhaps universal deities might even be a manifestation of some will.
Isabella asked, “Have you gathered any news about your father yet?”
“Through my skills and years of investigation, I have gathered some news. My father should be alive. That demoness likely has him imprisoned somewhere. I wanted to lure big brother Zu and big sister Tingxue here to help with the investigation, but I never expected to draw the demoness here as well,” Firework said with a sigh.
“It’s a good thing she was captured by the spider. You don’t have to worry about her anymore,” Isabella consoled her, though that also reminded her about Alfred’s capture and her expression darkened.
“That demoness wouldn’t die that easily. The spider merely captured a clone. It won’t affect her main body.” Firework harrumphed.
“Where’s her main body?” Isabella was confused. “Do we have to kill all the staff members in Dreamland to kill her for good?”
Firework shook her head. “I don’t know where her main body is either. I've been investigating her for many years now, but I was unable to trace her background or the origin of her abilities.”
Zu An suddenly spoke up. “I know where her main body is.”
“You do?” Firework was perplexed. She had investigated this matter for many years, but to no avail, yet Zu An had uncovered it within days of arriving at Dreamland?
Faced with the two women’s curious gazes, Zu An looked in the direction they had come from and said, “Her main body is right here.”
“Right here?” Firework’s hair stood on end. She glanced at Isabella, wondering if the latter had been controlled by the demoness as well.
Isabella also stared at Firework in horror. She instinctively stuck closer to Zu An.
Taking in their reactions, Zu An laughed. “It’s not what you’re thinking. Yani is that spider outside.”
“What?!” The two women exclaimed in horror, especially Firework. She had seen Yani fighting valiantly against the spider earlier, so she struggled to come to terms with the idea that they were the same entity.
“I have an ability that allows me to see through all facades. From the first time I met Yani, she was already a demon spider.”
After Zu An obtained the Eye of Truth, he'd inspected everyone on board. That was why he knew something was amiss with Yani and the crew members. He'd seen a spider silhouette behind Yani, but didn’t understand what it meant at first. It was only after seeing the terrifying demon spider that he'd made sense of the situation.
“Big brother Zu, how do you have so many special abilities?” Isabella was amazed.
She had met many experts who were far stronger than Zu An, but none of them had as many methods as him. Perhaps he appeared weak, but he wouldn't necessarily lose to those experts in an all-out fight!
“Spider. Puppets. Control...” Firework looked shaken up. “You’re right. Why did I never think of that? But why is she doing all of this when she’s already this powerful?”
