Chapter 2711: Fatal Mistake

Chapter 2711: Fatal Mistake

Employee 9527 had fetched countless people before, and even the most composed person from a cultivation-esque world tended to ask questions about the spaceship and everything about it. And yet this man was so calm. This was at odds with the intelligence he had received.

Could he be a spy sent by other powers? That sparked Employee 9527’s vigilance.

Sensing the other party’s body tensing up, Zu An quickly explained, “I chanced upon a dungeon connected to a technological civilization, so automatic doors and elevators aren’t foreign to me.” He wouldn’t easily reveal that he was a transmigrator, so it was fortunate there was another convenient excuse here.

Employee 9527 breathed a sigh of relief. “I’d expect no less from a Wonderpoint World. It is linked to so many different dungeons. Most worlds hardly have dungeons at all.”

Zu An was surprised. Are dungeons that rare? I guess the Cultivation World is hiding many secrets. Worried the other party would continue probing, he quickly changed the topic. “How many guests are there on this ship?”

“There are four other guests. You’ll be able to meet them very soon.” Employee 9527 gestured to the facilities and began introducing them. “That is our practice room. It provides our guests with ki, spiritual energy, battle energy, mana, or anything they require for their training. You should cultivate several times faster in there than usual.

“Alternatively, you can also set the training room to ‘Combat Mode’. The system will randomly choose a battlefield and an enemy for you. You can fight to your heart’s desire without worrying about dying.”

“That’s incredible!” Zu An was amazed.

It would take an immortal-tier weapon or a top-notch dungeon to achieve these effects in the Cultivation World, yet this was merely an ordinary training room on this spaceship. This went to show just how powerful the Universal Conglomerate was.

“It is a long journey, after all. It’s our pleasure to provide our guests with the greatest degree of convenience possible. Most of our guests are disciplined and seek to constantly train to grow stronger. Forcing them to idle is worse than death to them. Moreover, they can also vent inside the training room, making it less likely for them to cause trouble on the ship,” Employee 9527 replied with a smile. “You can give it a try when you have time. Don’t worry; all of our facilities, including food, are free. Dreamland has already paid the tab on your behalf.”

Zu An nodded. I should give it a try, since I’ve reached a bottleneck in the Cultivation World. This is a chance for me to get a glimpse of other combat styles in the Myriad Worlds, too.

“Aside from training rooms, we also have beaches, hot springs, swimming pools, and other amenities. You can relax there when you’re fatigued,” Employee 9527 said as he gestured to the other amenities.

Zu An was surprised. Space should have been precious on the spaceship, yet there were so many indulgent entertainment facilities in it. The Universal Conglomerate sure is wealthy!

Employee 9527 suddenly lowered his voice and chuckled. “If you are seeking another kind of fun, you can try out our spa massage room. Our attendants are meticulously-selected beauties, coming in every style you can think of. Your imagination is the limit there! Of course, that will be charged separately.”

Zu An was speechless.

Out of curiosity, he asked, “Do you have that many attendants on standby on every ship?”

They had encountered some female staff members along the way, but they were far from being as diverse as Employee 9527 described.

Employee 9527 laughed. “There’s no way we would provide so many female attendants on every ship. Our protocol is to first confirm the guest list before summoning them over using our teleportation technology. It looks like you’re interested. I’ll send you a list later. You can browse their 3D holograms. You won’t be disappointed!”

Zu An smiled awkwardly. “I’ll pass today. I’m a little tired.”

You must be kidding! I have many lovers waiting for me at home. How can I go philandering around here?

Employe 9527 wasn’t surprised by his answer. “I understand. It’s your first time venturing beyond your world, so there must be a lot on your mind right now. If you do feel lonely at any point in time, feel free to tell me.”

Zu An responded with a sheepish smile.

“That’s the canteen. Right ahead of us is the bar. Our guests frequently drink and chat there while enjoying the scenery outside.”

Employee 9527 brought Zu An into an exquisite bar. It was graceful and quiet. There weren’t many seats, and they were scattered around to grant privacy among the guests. Its walls were floor-to-ceiling glass panels that allowed one to see the scenery outside clearly.

But Zu An was in no mood to admire the scenery outside; he was more interested in the guests at the bar.

Seated closest to the entrance was a peculiar youth with seemingly translucent skin and no mouth. His eyes were completely black, with no irises. Or rather, it was practically filled with irises; as upon careful examination, Zu An noticed specks of light inside the youth's eyes that were reminiscent of the night sky.

Despite looking young, his hair was sparse like that of a middle-aged man with a receding hair pattern. It felt as if a gust of wind could pull away his hair. Zu An wondered if the youth was a stressed-out programmer on the 996 schedule[1].

Seated by the glass panels was an old woman dressed in rags. A glance was enough to make Zu An’s stomach churn. He had never seen such an ugly woman. Her face was covered in meat lumps of all shapes and sizes; anyone with trypophobia[2] would convulse on the spot.

Zu An quickly averted his gaze and turned his attention toward the old man seated in the innermost area of the bar. The latter was also hideous with glaring scars on his face, but he could easily be considered dashing compared to the old woman. He seemed crippled as he was seated in a wheelchair.

But Zu An didn’t dare to underestimate the old man, as the latter was shrouded in a translucent flame that felt extremely intimidating even tens of meters away.

“%¥@*!#¥【、】+1...!” The old man harrumphed before taking his leave.

It was as if the wheelchair was part of his body, wheeling him out of the bar without being maneuvered.

Zu An was baffled. He couldn’t understand what the other party was saying. He turned to Employee 9527 with confused eyes, only to see the latter looking a little awkward. The old man must have uttered something unpleasant.

A voice echoed in Zu An’s mind. “He said ‘Here I was wondering how incredible a master of a Wonderpoint World must be, but he turned out to be a weakling.'”

Zu An was speechless. He tracked the voice and realized the one who had just spoken was the youth with transparent skin and sparse hair. He was baffled as the youth had no mouth.

Sensing his confusion, the youth replied, “I’m conversing with you through psychic waves.” He shook his head and turned around to continue enjoying the scenery, seemingly having lost his interest in Zu An.

The old woman covered in meat lumps cackled as she limped her way out of her seat with the aid of a walking stick.

Zu An realized he had made a fatal error. There could be many languages even within a single world, let alone across the Myriad Worlds, yet he'd overlooked this issue. This could make his trip to Dreamland far more dangerous.
