Chapter 2503: Tricked

Chapter 2503: Tricked

The monsters were all shocked, be it those allied with the Lord of Slaughter or the Monster Lord.

Those on the Lord of Slaughter’s side were appalled to see their master in danger, whereas those on the Monster Lord’s side hadn’t expected him to have become so much more powerful as to anticipate the Lord of Slaughter’s reaction.

Only Zu An understood, having previously crossed blows with the Monster Lord. The latter possessed special eyes that could see his opponent’s openings. Often, he only had to strike the opening, and most enemies would crumble and fall into deep fear. Having one’s every move perfectly read and countered was enough to drive most cultivators into a mental breakdown. Only those with tremendous willpower could retain their sanity.

Needless to say, the Lord of Slaughter was no ordinary person either. He was stunned for a moment, but he quickly snapped out of it and sliced through space with his sharp claws.

The surrounding space collapsed, and the opening vanished. The Monster Lord had no choice but to change his move. They traded dozens of blows in the blink of an eye. Their movements were so fast that most monsters in the hall couldn’t keep up.

“I hadn’t expected you to acquire that legendary eye technique, but did you think you can defeat me just because you can see through my openings?” the Lord of Slaughter said mockingly.

“Master’s cultivation is formidable. Not only do you reveal few openings, but you move so fast that your openings vanish in an instant. Naturally, you wouldn’t be afraid of my eye technique,” the Monster Lord replied, but he didn’t sound disappointed at all.

The Lord of Slaughter harrumphed. He also knew it wouldn’t be that easy to deal with the Monster Lord’s eye technique, though the earlier clash gave him some confidence. Despite the latter's swift growth, the Monster Lord was still lacking compared to him. Even at the expense of incurring severe injuries, he was determined to end the Monster Lord right here. Once the ringleader was dead, his subordinates would have no choice but to return to his side.

Sensing their intensifying auras, Zu An knew that both sides were about to get serious.

All of a sudden, the Monster Lord said, “Master, I have prepared a gift for you to thank you for the years you have spent nurturing me.”

The Lord of Slaughter’s heart quivered. He thought the other party had acquired a formidable artifact or potent poison.

Little did he expect the gate to suddenly open, upon which a girl exclaimed, “Daddy~”

“Salamay!” The Lord of Slaughter flew into a rage.

It turned out that the Monster Lord’s subordinates were holding his daughter hostage at the entrance. In truth, he had already guessed as much when the Monster Lord arrived with his subordinates, but he'd still harbored hope. After all, Salamay was still young and didn’t pose a threat to the Monster Lord. Furthermore, in the Monster World, she was a well-known princess.

He'd figured that if the Monster Lord didn’t want everyone to know about his traitorous behavior, he wouldn’t lay his hands on Salamay. But the Monster Lord was more despicable than he'd expected.

He had always doted on his daughter, so he couldn’t turn a blind eye to this.

“Let her go!”

The Lord of Slaughter’s roar caused all the monsters in the hall to tremble; it was as if they were confronted with an enraged primal beast. The terrifying sonic boom sent the commanders holding Salamay hostage into shock, causing them to lose control over their bodies. If not for the Lord of Slaughter holding back for fear of hurting his daughter, they would have been reduced to bloody mist by now. He made use of the opportunity to fly over to rescue his daughter.

But the Monster Lord wouldn’t give him a chance to do that. He persistently stuck to the Lord of Slaughter as if he was the latter's shadow.

Even though the Lord of Slaughter was stronger than the Monster Lord, the gap wasn’t significant enough for him to quickly suppress the latter. With the Monster Lord persistently hounding him, he wasn’t free to save Salamay.

“Master, why are you in such a rush? Aren’t you snubbing me too much?” the Monster Lord sneered. “Master, why don’t you surrender? I promise to spare you and the little princess. Otherwise, I can’t guarantee the little princess’ safety.”

The Lord of Slaughter was both alarmed and furious. If he ignored the Monster Lord to save his daughter, the chances were that the latter would deal him a heavy blow. That would be the end of him. But if he didn’t head there now, the opportunity he had created with great difficulty would be squandered. The other party wouldn’t give him such a chance again.

All of a sudden, another figure charged at Salamay.

“Warped Monster!” The nearby Scorpion King and Thousand-Footed Elder noticed the other party and rushed forward to block his path.

However, the Warped Monster squeezed through the gap between the two of them like a slippery snake, charging straight toward Salamay. The commanders holding her hostage were just starting to recover from their shock when he snapped their necks.

“Princess!” The Warped Monster picked up Salamay and freed her from her restraints.

“Uncle Warped!” Salamay was moved too.

The Shadow Monster King sneered, “You’re courting death!” His eyes glowed as two rays of light shot toward the Warped Monster, who froze on the spot.

It was the Shadow Monster King’s ultimate skill—Paralysis Ray!

A massive corpse ball rolled up to the Warped Monster, and the countless skeletons stuck to the ball gnawed at him. It was the Manipulator of Death!

Even though the Warped Monster was paralyzed by the Shadow Monster King, as one of the Eighteen Monster Generals, he had his own survival methods. His body warped once again, causing the attacks to miss his vitals.

However, he was unable to dodge the attacks coming from his left. The massive corpse ball managed to latch onto him, and a miserable cry followed. The entire left side of his body vanished into thin air, and his exposed innards wriggled. A closer look at his wounds revealed bite marks, as if they had been chomped off by countless mouths.

The Lord of Slaughter was infuriated. He shook off the Monster Lord and hurled a punch at the Manipulator of Death. The latter's countless mouths shrieked in agony as the sheer force of the punch exploded his countless corpses.

However, the Lord of Slaughter’s face still looked grim. He knew that the Manipulator of Death was made out of countless corpses, and he had incredible regenerative abilities. Despite having received a heavy blow, it wouldn’t be long before he recovered.

The Lord of Slaughter thus quickly cast a skill on the Warped Monster, allowing his ruined left body to regrow flesh and blood. “Take Salamay away!” he shouted as he stood in front of the Warped Monster to block the onslaught of the Monster Lord, Shadow Monster King, War Priest, and the other experts.

“Master, you should run! I’ll cover your escape. Rally your army to eliminate these traitors,” the Warped Monster said anxiously.

That was indeed the Lord of Slaughter’s initial plan, but he laughed. “You don’t have the means to cover my retreat. Let me do it...”

He was about to say that he could easily find an opening to escape when his face suddenly darkened. Without any hesitation, he thrust a palm strike behind himself.

The Warped Monster spurted blood as he was sent flying, but there was a smirk on his face as he gleefully waved a pitch-black spike.

The Lord of Slaughter felt a numbing sensation spreading from the back of his waist to the rest of his body. He turned his sharp eyes toward the Scorpion King. “Your stinger!”

The Scorpion King snickered. “Master, there are few in the Myriad Worlds who can withstand my stinger’s poison. How does it feel?”
