Chapter 2421: Confession

Chapter 2421: Confession

Zu An first shook his head, but then said, “At first, I didn’t know that you were the queen, but when I saw you use certain skills and treasures, I had my guesses.”

All sorts of vivid expressions flickered across the Mermaid Queen's face.  She'd thought he didn’t know when she was acting as the Mermaid Queen and Suyin this entire time! But this guy was just watching her make a fool of herself the entire time!

Ahhhhhhhhhh!

Her entire body went completely tense, and even her toes clenched. She was so embarrassed her toes were practically about to dig out a new Dragon Palace under her.

The Mermaid Queen broke character, completely broke character!

She'd felt a bit sorry that she was completely fooling with him, but the fool was actually her all along!

When he saw how she was about to explode, Zu An sighed. “Please don’t worry, queen. I wasn’t intending to have any relations with the Mermaid race at all from the very start, and I am not your enemy.”

“Hah, but there wasn’t a single word of truth this entire time. You’ve had me running in circles from your lies, and yet you’re saying you’re not my enemy?” The Mermaid Queen sneered. “What saving your little sister…”

“That one is real,” Zu An quickly said.

The Mermaid Queen was speechless.

Why does it feel as if you were only lying when it was toward me?!

“Speak! Just what is your objective? Otherwise, you might not be able to leave this place alive.” The Mermaid Queen got up, her beautiful hair floating in the water. She was now truly angered.

Peach was stunned. Why was the scene changing so quickly?

These two were acting so sweet and affectionate that I couldn't even take it anymore. Why are they suddenly about to attack each other?

She couldn't help but ask quietly, “Could there maybe be some kind of misunderstanding here?”

“You, be quiet! I want him to say it himself!” The Mermaid Queen shot her a look.

This guy really knows how to fool women. Just how long has he been with Peach, and yet she's already speaking up for him.

Zu An was also feeling a bit frustrated. He had done everything he could to avoid this result, and yet he still couldn't. He said, “I don’t have any such objectives. I actually didn’t want to get too close to you and didn’t even want to come here.”

The Mermaid Queen’s expression froze. She recalled everything that happened and remembered how he hadn't really been willing to come here when he heard that she was going to bring him. It was she who had grabbed his hand and insisted.

Once she realized that, she was completely and utterly embarrassed. So it turned out that he hadn’t had much interest in her at all from the beginning, and she was the one who'd continued to lead him along with her own wishful thinking!

But her confidence as the Ocean races’ number one beauty restored some confidence.

Something’s not right. How could there be any man who wouldn’t want to get closer to me?

“Could you be someone who holds a grudge against me?” she asked to test the waters.

“There is no grudge. To a certain extent, I even share some karma with you,” Zu An explained after thinking for a bit.

“What karma?” The Mermaid Queen couldn't figure out what kind of karma they could possibly share.

Zu An remained silent. It was obvious that he couldn't talk about it.

The Mermaid Queen was so angry she laughed. “Then are you actually a monster?”

She figured that unless she shared a blood grudge with him, or he was from the other camp, he would have no choice but to act on his own interest. Otherwise, there was no reason at all for him to avoid her. She'd even been wondering how to advise him not to get too involved... but now, she realized that she was the one who had gotten too invested!

“No, I'm a human. The monsters are my enemy,” Zu An replied.

“A human?” The Mermaid Queen thought for a bit. The humans did seem as if they were starting to flourish. But compared to the fiends and Ocean races, they were still too weak. Since when did the humans have someone like him?

“Let me see your real appearance.” The Mermaid Queen stared at him. She knew that everything she knew about him was a lie. She had to at least know what he looked like, right? Or else, how could it even be called getting to know each other?

After some hesitation, Zu An still shook his head. There were too many ways to record appearances in this world. Recording mirrors and certain outstanding drawing skills, for instance, could perfectly preserve one’s appearance. He couldn't take the risk.

The Mermaid Queen’s expression became completely cold. He wasn’t even willing to show her his real face! But while she was angry, she was also curious. Just why was that?

“Don’t tell me that you’re related to me somehow, and that you’re actually my little brother whom I’ve already lost touch with for many years, right?” The Mermaid Queen sneered. She obviously didn’t have a little brother, so she didn’t believe what he was saying at all.

Zu An was about to say something when his expression suddenly changed. He said, “Be careful, someone has barged in.”

The Mermaid Queen was stunned. This was her temporary official residence, with guards stationed outside. She hadn’t even sensed anything off. Could it be something this guy was doing to divert her attention? She was about to speak up and mock him when the windows split open. A figure rushed in and attacked the Mermaid Queen.

Fortunately, the warning had already prepared her a bit. Her hands moved quickly as she used her skills, and the Deep Sea Harp immediately played several beautiful yet dangerous runes.

Boom!

The two sides clashed. All of the objects in the room were scattered by the berserk power.

Zu An looked at the instruments scattered everywhere. He reflexively reached out toward Peach, who flailed around for a while before latching onto his thigh. This really was clinging to someone in both the physical and the metaphorical sense!

A trickle of blood came out from the Mermaid Queen’s mouth. She couldn't be bothered to wipe it, however. She looked at the intruder and asked, “Who are you?”

The other party was dressed in black clothes and wore a mask. It was impossible to see their appearance. But this individual had infiltrated her territory silently and even injured her while she was prepared. There weren’t that many across the entire Ocean races who were capable of such a thing.

The masked person said in a sinister voice, “Hm? I didn’t expect the Mermaid Queen, who is known for her beauty, to be so vigilant.” He'd been planning to immediately restrain her through an ambush, but he hadn’t expected her to already anticipate his arrival and react so quickly.

The Mermaid Queen gave Zu An a glance. The shock she felt grew even stronger.

He actually sensed his arrival before I did! Could it be that his cultivation is even higher than I imagined?

Even so, she couldn't bring herself to feel happy. Compared to someone profound and unfathomable, she felt closer to that slightly slow guard. However, she saw how Peach was clinging to his thigh as if she'd never let go and immediately felt terrible.

This lass is so disappointing!

“The honorable Incestuous King is actually hiding his head and only showing his tail. You’ve barged into the Mermaid Queen’s personal chambers in the middle of the night. If this becomes public knowledge, I wonder what kind of reaction the Ocean races will have.” Zu An spoke up just then. He saw that the Mermaid Queen was a bit distracted and was worried that she would underestimate the other party, so he quickly warned her. He wondered if the Mermaid race’s Gong surname had been erased from history because of what happened today…

Sure enough, when she heard that it was actually Mojard, the Mermaid Queen’s fine hairs stood on end. She didn’t dare to think about anything else anymore.

When he saw that he was exposed, Mojard didn’t keep up the act. He removed his mask. “Hm? I already concealed my aura and not even the Mermaid Queen recognized me, and yet you were able to?”

At the same time, he became a bit vigilant too.

This guy seems to be a bit stronger than I imagined.

Zu An smiled. “I was just speaking randomly to test the waters. I didn’t expect it to really be you.”

Mojard was speechless.
