Chapter 1741: Bad Luck?
Chapter 1741: Bad Luck?
Kong swiftly waved his hands to form a spatial tear that led to a faraway distance. However, he did not enter. Instead, he flew to the nearest surviving mountain of this range. With one slurp, he swallowed the mountain and turned it into the rawest earth energy to nourish his body. Finally, Kong activated his Transformation Dao, transforming into a perfect replica of the mountain.
His swift decision-making ability proved to be the correct choice. Less than a second after turning into a gargantuan mountain, two cultivators appeared in the sky: a woman and a man, both wearing Taoist robes. They scanned the area before landing in the crater Kong left. The two cast a few spells, and at first, their search proved to be useless. But one of their spells detected the subtle spatial fluctuations left in this area. Without hesitation, they followed the spatial trace to find the primordial demon that had invaded their world.
Emperor Kong finally felt relieved after seeing these two leave. However, his happiness lasted only a few seconds as he realized his intuition about danger from the sky had not disappeared; it had reduced somewhat, but not completely.
’What’s going on?’ he thought. The first instinct of this wise dean was to use divination, but caution stopped his actions. In his current state, the backlash from a failed divination would directly put him into a coma. So, he decided to find a place to heal first before dealing with the upcoming danger.
Boom!
The void above Kong’s Mountain Form cracked open, revealing a middle-aged man with all-white hair, red eyes, and black robes. A terrifying, baleful aura emanated from his body, turning the sky blood red. "Who is it?" he roared. "Who destroyed my Baleful Land?"
’Damn it,’ Emperor Kong cursed to himself. A quick analysis revealed what had happened. This mountain range was a unique environment that this cultivator used. His landing destroyed most of it first, but the mountain he transformed into seemed to be the last node in the formation this person had created to gather the baleful energy of this spiritual land.
"You won’t show up? Coward," the demonic cultivator yelled before releasing his power in all directions, including where Emperor Kong was. The attack further aggravated the scholar’s injury, but he reacted swiftly. He allowed this mountain to be destroyed, while Kong transformed into one of the small pieces of debris on the ground.
"Bastard, where are you?"
"Asura Old Demon? You dare come to our Dao Realm?"
"It’s you two?" Asura Old Demon frowned briefly before sneering. He turned away to leave, but they stopped him. "Get out of my way if you don’t want to be slaughtered."
"The court has ordered all Paragons to assemble for a meeting, and you didn’t show up," Azure Lotus Sword Immortal said, his sword-eye brows staring at this demon.
"I was in the middle of an important retreat," Asura Old Demon calmly replied. As arrogant as he was, he would never show any disrespect to the Infinite Divine Court.
"Do you think we care?" the Red Blossom Sword Immortal added with her sword already out. The Asura Old Demon was not stupid; his name, Old Demon, is a reference to his cruelty and intelligence. So, he immediately understood that these two wanted to use this opportunity to eliminate him.
"Interesting," he chuckled. A Dharma Image of an Asura with six arms, three heads, and a third eye on the central head. "I should be able to kill you before those old guys arrive. Your blood and soul should be tasty." His Dharma Image punched those two, and they replied with two brilliant sword lights.
’It seems that even with the Infinite Divine Court’s presence, things are not completely peaceful,’ Emperor Kong thought. "However, for now, none of this is my business." He created a rock to replace himself while his true body turned into small particles that burrowed deep underground. In his current state, Kong could not fully utilize his power, and the last thing he wanted to see happen was for those three to discover him. As such, he proceeded underground with the utmost care to ensure his power did not leak and was not detected by these people.
’Hmm? Is there something nearby?’ After traveling so far and away from these people, Kong was about to ascend and find a place to heal when he sensed a hidden cave. He did not rush inside immediately, but sent a few scouts to check it out. At first, he saw nothing but a large cave with fluorescent pearls scattered every meter. However, one of the scouts saw something, and before he could react, a potent force pulled Emperor Kong into the cave, while reverting to his human form.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
A powerful rhythmic beating echoed from Kong’s chest as he gazed at this odd humanoid creature whose body was formed from countless flies. The creature naturally elicited fear from people, so even someone with a profound state of mind, as Emperor Kong temporarily lost control of his body after gazing at it.
Bang!
Emperor Kong did not hesitate to release a devastating attack, instantly annihilating every creature that formed this strange lifeform. The feeling of joy or relief should follow such a swift victory, but Kong felt the opposite: he felt things were far from over. And his intuition was correct. Less than ten seconds after its destruction, the creature remanifested.
The creature copies his unsportsmanlike manner and immediately attacks after being reformed. Kong watched in horror as his defense was easily penetrated, further aggravating his injury. And this was just the beginning. After leaving the numerous holes in his body, the creature’s humanoid shape collapsed and relied on all the billions of flies to pierce through Kong, turning him into Swiss cheese.
Without much choice, Kong swallowed a pill that forcefully returned him to his peak for a few minutes. Although the aftereffect will further aggravate his injuries, he had no choice in the current situation. Then, with the righteous anger of a wronged scholar, he started bombarding this creature with one powerful attack after another. Whether it was soul attacks, righteous energy, Dao Attacks, and so many more, he tried everything.
’Why won’t this accursed thing die?’ Emperor Kong muttered to himself. He tried everything, including trying to find this creature’s weird source of immortality. But all his attempts resulted in failure. The pill’s effect will soon run out, so he might die if he doesn’t find a solution soon.
After observing his surroundings, Kong tried a few more attacks with wide-area effects. ’Damn it," he cursed with an ugly expression. He realized this was a sealed place. Even at his peak, it would take him a while to break out. ’Why is my luck so terrible?’
A long breath shot from his mouth like an arrow fired from a three-hundred-pound bow. He used a simple Literary Technique that most scholars will learn in their first stage of cultivation: [Concentration]. Of course, for someone of Kong’s level, this technique might be better called [Absolute Analysis]. After entering a calm state not affected by any emotions, everything Kong had experienced since his encounter with this creature was analyzed from all angles. And in such a state, he was able to connect a few pieces of information that he had not noticed or had seemed irrelevant to each other.
’The creature suddenly appeared, but it’s more like my scout suddenly perceived it. When it attacked me from all sides, for a brief moment, my soul fluctuated, and I couldn’t perceive the creature. In that brief moment, its attack weakened. So, that’s how it is. When this creature is perceived, it’s not only strong but also immortal.’
Kong immediately closed his eyes and cut off his divine sense. As soon as he did that, the creature suddenly became translucent. Feeling threatened, it immediately attacked. As danger approached, Kong relied on his intuition to detect the creature’s location and released a pillar of golden light created from Righteous Qi.
His approach was successful. Just based on how weak that attack was, he knew he was on the right track. The creature roared, trying to force him to perceive him through sound, but Kong immediately cut off that sense as well. For the subsequent few attacks, the creature’s weakness could be detected, but its immortality remained an issue.
’My memory — in some way, I can still perceive it from my memory of its existence.’ Kong immediately placed a seal on his mind after figuring that out. Then, half a minute after releasing another powerful attack, he felt no threat and opened his eyes. The only thing left near him was a small puddle of water.
"Damn it, it’s finally done," Emperor Kong sighed as he sat down and swallowed a bunch of pills to regulate his injury. As he reviewed his experience, he realized something was wrong: "First, the Saint shockwave, then, being discovered so soon, and the Asura Old Demon being on the spot I landed, and now, this strange creature — why is my luck so terrible?"
