Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1660: Fate Lord

Chapter 1660: Fate Lord

The fate eye at the center of the array scanned everywhere in the court before releasing chains in all directions. Each chain would bind someone who was detected to have a parasite. Wang Wei and Wu Hong would then use their Acupuncture Technique to remove the red parasite from their bodies. Some tried to run away, but they were soon captured by the fate chains or by other members of the court.

"Hmm?"

"What is it?" Wu Hong asked.

"I sensed someone watching me from that infected individual," Wang Wei said as he pointed to someone in the far east.

"That means this attack was not just to cause chaos and destruction, but also to gather intel."

"Most likely."

"Have you tried tracing the karma line?"

"I did it, and it failed."

"That’s unfortunate," Wu Hong shook her head before they continued their work. Many people glanced at how perfectly in sync they worked and confirmed the rumors circulating about their relationship. Of course, some refused to admit it until those two publicly admitted it. With the two working together, the situation was soon under control, so Qiyuan summoned them.

"Words alone cannot express how relieved I am that you two were here," Qiyuan immediately expressed. This event has solidified a decision he was struggling with: his first transcendent foundation will be about perfection. He still cannot bypass the mental barrier of entering the Dark Truth, but he can still cultivate a modified version of Wang Wei and Wu Hong’s technique. Then, he can use the concept of perfection to finally cultivate the [Existence Blueprint Technique].

"Can we talk in private?" Wang Wei said, which immediately extinguished Qiyuan’s excitement. He dismissed all the other strategists, except for Ye Guang.

"What is it?"

"We didn’t get everybody."

"How is that possible?" Ye Guang asked.

"Based on a preliminary study of this thing, we deduced they have three stages," Wu Hong explained. "Our method can only discover the first stage, and it seems three hundred years is enough for a few to evolve to the second stage and beyond."

"If your methods can only discover the first stage, what is required to discover them in the second and third stages?"

"The second stage would probably require the Saint to take action. As for the third..." She did not say anything, but her silence spoke volumes. "The good news is there is a chance that this parasite will lose its ability to transmit by the time it reaches the third stage."

"How confident are you about that statement?"

"60%, maybe less," Wu Hong replied.

"That is not much," Ye Guang muttered.

"Well, we’ve only had these parasites for less than an hour," Wang Wei explained.𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

"I’m not blaming you, just pointing out that the number is not reassuring given what is at stake." Ye Guang spoke the truth. The consequences will be dire if these parasites are not dealt with as swiftly as possible.

"Go initiate a lockdown. No one can enter or leave the court," Qiyuan ordered.

"Is that useful? Over the past three hundred years, many people outside should have come into contact with these parasites," Ye Guang commented.

"We can still minimize the risk," Qiyuan explained. Ye Guang nodded before executing his order.

"Additionally, I need you two to scan the entire world to find any first-stage parasites."

"You should understand that by the time we finish, most of these parasites should have already evolved. So, do you have a way to speed things up?" Wang Wei asked.

"Yes," Qiyuan said as he summoned a jade talisman. "The Saint granted me the ability to use some of her powers as Heavenly Emperor. With this thing, you can use Heavenly Dao itself to scan the entire world. Be careful since this ability will have a heavy burden on your mind."

"Understood."

Wang Wei and Wu Hong left, leaving the court’s two foremost strategists to their own devices. The situation was worse than expected. Not only did they suffer immense casualties, but the people whom these infected individuals killed had their souls and destiny swallowed, and presumably, sent back to the Black Dimension.

"We need to do something to raise morale, or our situation will slowly deteriorate over time," Ye Guang uttered.

"Don’t you think I know that?" Qiyuan replied. "The issue is these people can attack and retreat to the Black Dimension, but we can only respond once they leave their base."

"Then we lure them outside."

"What are you thinking?"

"Don’t they want soul and destiny?" Ye Guang asked. "We blatantly build arrays and weapons to stop the process, forcing them to send troops to stop the construction. Then, we release the Micro Curse."

Qiyuan frowned.

"I know you might think it’s too early for that, but we need a loud and public victory. Plus, we may be able to detect some information from inside the Black Dimension."

"Using their tactics against them? That’s not a bad idea," Qiyuan nodded. "Let’s do it." He immediately ordered the relevant department to proceed with this operation.

Divine War Post:

All members looked at Wang Wei through the infected pawn, and for some reason, the room became eerily quiet. "That’s him, right? The original self of the Fate Lord from Timeline 3987C."

"Same face, same hair and eye color, and the same power of fate," someone nodded. "The only difference was the lack of scar."

"It seems we can no longer deny that this man called Wang Wei is indeed the original self of the Fate Lord."

Everyone present was familiar with the story of the Fate Lord from Timeline 3987C, and a few had even participated. After Grand Dao isolated their timeline, they were not completely cut off from the Infinite Trichiliocosm. The Highest Sovereign would not allow himself to become a prisoner in his own timeline. Instead, they were stopped from fusing more timelines into the Divine Timeline to elevate it to a higher state.

Despite their states, the Infinite Divine Court did not stop its military expansion. The Infinite Trichilliocosm was the primary source of all their resources, so they continued their conquest and even built military outposts in numerous worlds. One of them was Timeline 3987C.

That invasion was supposed to be a simple one since it was determined that no Saint existed in the realm. A talented commander from the Infinite Divine Court took the mission and headed to that timeline. It was shocking when the latter failed. His failure, while surprising, was not alarming. However, after the third expedition failed, all eyes were on that timeline.

At first, the court thought it had made a mistake, and there was a Saint. But soon, everybody learned of the cause of failure: the Fate Lord. The man played all three previous commanders for a fool. Timeline 3987C became a challenge for the young talent of the courts, especially the Grand Command Academy. All these geniuses who thought themselves clever rushed to take the mission, and the result was the same. Old commanders who were still stuck in the Paragon Realm, but with ample experience, soon signed up to deal with this issue. Nothing changed.

Ultimately, the upper echelons of the Infinite Divine Court realized the mission had become detrimental to the pride and confidence of all the commanders and chose to secretly send a Saint to eradicate the timeline. That should have been the end of the story. The Saint dealt with everybody, and a young commander would be chosen to receive the honor, thus appeasing the public.

Unfortunately, an accident still occurred. The Saint’s mission was successful, but when he returned, he was on the verge of death. Before his death, the Fate Lord cast a curse powered by the hatred and resentment of all sentient beings of his timeline, almost achieving the feat of killing a Saint as an Immortal.

"There is no need to panic," Wan Yanmei said. "We know that there is no guarantee that Wang Wei will be as capable as his alternate self. And even if he is, we are prepared." The methods and tactics of the Fate Lord have been thoroughly studied and analyzed. Powerful Saints have even recreated some version of the Fate Lord to simulate his mind and way of thinking. As such, Wan Yanmei still had some confidence in dealing with the current situation.

Her words were effective. These strategists were so bewitched by the myth surrounding the Fate Lord that they momentarily lost their composure. But no one can blame them. A few of them took missions into Timeline 3987C, and they only survived because they ran away fast enough or used the power of their families.

’First Commander, have you noticed his cultivation?’ White Saber communicated through divine sense.

’I have,’ Wan Yanmei nodded. According to the news Time Eater sent, Wang Wei wasn’t even a peak Paragon the last time they fought. But now, he was already a primal. Such a speed of cultivation was absurd by usual standards. While Wan Yanmei had met people whose cultivation speed trumped the latter by a long shot, those were Saint Children who were born with the ability to ignore the rules.
