Chapter 398: Earth Immortal
Chapter 398: Earth Immortal
|| You were able to escape from a Sage? || Li Yao asked with suspicion.
[That’s right. She seemed to be busy with something and I took the chance to escape. Whatever she was doing must’ve been really important as she didn’t bother to chase after me,] he said.
His expression then changed. [Even so, she still sent others after me…]
The Beast God explained that while on the run from the followers of the Sage, he had managed to detect the auras of both the demon and asura gods in this small mortal world. Even more surprising was that their auras were quite faint, as if they were already dead or had been sealed.
There was no way the Sage could’ve killed such useful pawns for no reason, so he knew there must’ve been a conspiracy.
He approached the mortal world to take a closer look but was surprised by the level of heavenly dao restriction. Usually, the heavenly dao would protect the lower level worlds, but not to such an extent. The stronger one was, the less the restriction was. But surprisingly, for this world, the stronger one was, the higher the restriction was.
This could only mean one thing – a very special treasure was about to be born in this world, or a heaven’s chosen was about to be born.
Seeing this, the Beast God finally realized why the Sage had almost completely destroyed the asura and demon gods. She was reducing their powers so that they wouldn’t face any restrictions and could go in. And when in, they could recover their power slowly as they wait for the birth of the treasure or heaven’s chosen.
With nowhere left to run as his pursuers were catching up to him, he decided to hide in the only place the Sage couldn’t enter. This world’s heavenly dao restriction grew stronger the stronger the opponent was, meaning the Sage had practically no chance of getting in.
But that was also true for him. That’s why he decided to burn all his cultivation, regressing his cultivation all the way to the earth immortal realm. At the earth immortal realm, one should be able to easily descend into a world like this.
But to descend, there needed to be two gates – one made by him from the outside, and one from the inside. Since he didn’t have even that, he could only give up his body entirely and reincarnate himself into a body in this world. Luckily, he was able to go through after ditching his body and possessed the body of one of the beast ancestors.
In the mortal world, he slowly gathered back his power, cultivating until he reached the Earth Immortal realm, just a step away from Heaven Immortal realm.
[As I cultivated, I wondered if I’d ever truly be able to escape from the Sage. But now that I’ve come across you, the heaven’s chosen, I’m sure we can take her down if we work together,] he said. [So, what do you think?] he asked, still stretching out his hand.
|| I see, so that’s how it is. Thanks for the info, || she said.
[What are you talking ab…] he began but suddenly noticed the space around Li Yao begin to shift.
[You… you were actually stalling for time to use an immortal treasure?] he asked in shock.
|| Stalling? I was genuinely interested in your information, || she said.
[Wait then…] His eyes widened as he noticed it. This feel of energy – it wasn’t an immortal treasure after all. He smiled. [You think you can escape from me with just an immortal grade transportation rune?] he smirked.
He then threw a punch toward her. Li Yao smiled back at him as she sunk into the space. His fist struck into the space, ready to pull her out, but as his fist connected, his expression shifted. He then pulled out his fist and observed it. He then looked at the closing space.
“An immortal grade barrier? Someone actually has such a thing in this small world?” he then smiled. [Interesting,] he thought to himself that he would definitely capture this heaven’s chosen. And after that, he would be able to advance to the sage realm.
“Just you wait, Sage Li Yao.”
…
Xiang Yu stood in his courtyard with a strained expression. He thought to himself that the enemy was really dangerous this time. The problem with his battle simulation system function was that it could tell there were enemies of a certain level within his range, but he couldn’t exactly tell where they were inside his detection range.
He thought to himself that with the insane difference in power, Li Yao would probably be caught the instant she tried to escape. Luckily, he had thought of this situation and prepared an immortal grade teleportation rune for her.
Now, he could just activate the rune from his end and pull her back into the barrier. This was perfect as the immortal wouldn’t notice her mobilizing her power since she wasn’t the one doing it.
He would be totally clueless until it was too late.
The only problem with this method was that he needed to be extra careful not to alert the immortal. Even if she wasn’t the one activating the rune, he might sense the movement. He carefully guided the rune, ensuring that he activated each node slowly without alerting the Beast God.
And finally, it was the final node. He activated it and Li Yao was instantly pulled into the folds of space.
In just a second, space broke above him and she came crashing down, landing on top of him. Xiang Yu lay on the ground and she sat on top of him. Their eyes met and Xiang Yu felt a chill run down his spine.
He gathered his courage and smiled.
“Yao Yao, why don’t you turn back? Isn’t it too uncomfortable to stay in this form?”
Li Yao raised her hands, looking at them. She then returned her attention to Xiang Yu. || One would think that, but in fact, it’s quite the opposite, || she said. || In fact, I feel most at ease in this form. ||
Xiang Yu thought to himself that this voice was really chilling. It was like she was a whole different person.
She then looked at him. || Could it be… that husband is afraid? || she asked, moving her head closer to his.
“What? No. I just want to see your true self after so long,” he answered nervously.
|| But this IS my true self, || she responded.
“Dammit, I’ve brought this walking disaster home,” Xiang Yu thought.
Li Yao continued looking at him.
Internally, she thought, “Hehehe, senior brother is so cute when he’s like this. Maybe I should use this chance to bully him a little. He won’t mind, right? He can always bully me when he becomes stronger, not that I mind that, hehehe.”
