Chapter 301: 3rd Heaven
Chapter 301: 3rd Heaven
Wood Xiang Yu stood before his flourishing garden.
After receiving the research profession, the light clone had been able to study the effects of dark and light energy on the herbs much more effectively.
With all that data, Xiang Yu could now theorize a way to reverse the demonic corruption.
Fortunately, the herbs needed weren’t that high level – just sixth grade.
Well, technically, these herbs were quite rare, especially in the eastern continent, but for him it was nothing since he could harvest them multiple times a day. Now that he thought about it, after making the cure, there was no way the other sects could afford it.
Even the five major sects would only be able to afford just a few doses. Still, Xiang Yu didn’t plan to make it expensive. In fact, since it didn’t cost him much to produce, he didn’t mind handing it over for free. After all, in the end times, it was easier to make people owe you just by offering a glass of water.
The fire clone Xiang Yu held a half-white, half-black pill in his hand as he walked over to where one of the captured demons was being restrained. The creatures didn’t seem as energetic as before. Well, considering how many experiments he had conducted on them, he was honestly surprised they were still alive.
He took the pill and then force-fed it to the demon.
The moment the pill entered the demon’s body, it started wiggling and writhing in pain. Then, its dark skin suddenly turned pure white.
“Did it work?” Xiang Yu wondered, but in the next second, the demon began withering into light fragments until it disappeared completely.
“Hmm.” Xiang Yu stroked his chin thoughtfully.
After some consideration, he concluded the pill had indeed worked. The only reason the demon was destroyed was because it wasn’t a normal creature. Since the darkness wasn’t just a part of it that could be purified, but rather its entire being, it was destroyed entirely after the purification process.
Still, if he wanted to use this on humans, he needed to make sure it really worked.
He sighed, he didn’t have any volunteers, and Liu Feng wasn’t here this time to test things on. As he was thinking about this problem, he noticed something at the corner of his eye.
He smiled, walking over to the animals’ section.
He grabbed a wild boar and carried it out.
“You guys live here rent-free, so using you for research shouldn’t be a bad thing, right?” he thought aloud. He then placed the boar on restraints next to the last remaining demon from the three Liu Feng had captured.
He reasoned that humans and pigs had about ninety percent similarity in their DNA, and this one was able to cultivate too, just like the people the pill would be used on, so there shouldn’t be much difference.
“Although this one is a wild boar rather than a domestic pig, there shouldn’t be much difference. Around eighty percent give or take if I adjust for inflation,” he thought.
Xiang Yu then let the demon scratch the boar and inject the demonic energy into it. The boar became completely corrupted by the demonic energy, its skin turning completely dark and it became extremely violent, thrashing against its restraints.
Xiang Yu then produced a new pill and force-fed it to the boar.
Just like before, a bright light spread through the boar’s body, purifying and destroying all the corruption within it while avoiding harm to everything else. In just three seconds, the boar was back to normal, its skin returning to its natural color and its violent behavior completely gone.
Xiang Yu performed several checks on the animal before confirming that everything was fine.
He sighed in relief, the test had been successful. Still, he decided to perform a few more checks and tests to collect additional data and maybe refine the pill even further.
If he could make a vaccine as well, that would be even better, though he admitted that would probably be impossible since he would essentially be creating a natural resistance toward one of the ten elements.

Li Yao sat comfortably under the continuous stream of lightning.
Although the lightning was extremely painful as it struck her body repeatedly, she showed no sign of strain whatsoever. After all, when you’ve experienced it for almost half a day, you’re bound to get used to it at some point.
She absorbed every bit of the lightning energy, ensuring nothing went to waste. She then circulated the heavenly lightning like one would any other form of qi.
Next, she would start slowly injecting the lightning energy into her body tissues.
Gradually, she deconstructed her muscle fibers, bones, and all other bodily structures, filling them with the lightning energy and allowing them to slowly regenerate back to their original state.
If she had possessed a rebirth pill, the process would have been much easier and faster since she could take advantage of the rebirth effect to accelerate her recovery. But now, she had to carefully guide the energy, ensuring she didn’t overdo it as her natural recovery wasn’t that great and she risked serious damage to her body if she wasn’t careful.
Since she had already consumed all of her senior brother’s spirit food, she didn’t want to find herself in that sort of situation.
The painstaking process continued slowly for another half day.
When morning arrived the next day, the lightning storm all around began to slowly die down. Li Yao slowly opened her eyes, feeling the profound changes within her body.
She thought to herself with satisfaction that it had been a success.
She was able to advance her Nine Heavens Thunder Body to the third heaven. She had also managed to increase her body cultivation to the nineteenth layer. And of course, she had successfully broken through to the Soul Formation realm.
“Hmm, some pests came in,” Li Yao spoke aloud.
[Yeah, about that. There’s also an Integration realm cultivator hanging around with them,] the Empress said.
[Should we retreat? If you use the sword…] she began, but Li Yao interrupted her.
“No need,” she said firmly, drawing her sword. “I’ll use this chance to test out my progress.”
