Chapter 658: Catch Me If You Can
Chapter 658: Catch Me If You Can
The amount of chaos could not be described in words. In short, it was a mix of people cursing, the female students screaming, the sounds of people being pushed to the ground, the class leader shouting to maintain order, and Gong CaiCai whimpering because she could not scream for help.
In the nick of time, Winnie grabbed the butterfly that landed on Gong CaiCai’s chest, then pushed Gong CaiCai backwards into the class leader’s arms.
“Hurry, you guys get away from me.”
Winnie’s action was not out of greed, but to draw the attention of the army of butterfly catchers to herself.
In order to not to let our classmates, especially the class leader and Gong CaiCai, get hurt, Winnie pinched the wings of the butterfly and ran away from everyone else. She ran while holding the butterfly up high, afraid that someone would not know that the $500,000 had fallen into her hands.
“I have the butterfly, come and catch me if you can!”
The crowd froze, then all changed their targets and lunged at Winnie.
The class leader wanted to help Winnie, but Gong CaiCai was frightened and had fainted in his arms, so she could not leave.
The athletic Winnie who already had her fill of food, began a wonderful game of tag with with the groups of gangsters.
Winnie moved in a zigzag pattern and dodged from left to right. Sometimes she would duck and sometimes she would jump. She was like a fighter jet doing difficult tactical maneuvers out maneuvering the enemy fighters and making them charging into empty space every time.
Initially, they refrained from using weapons because they were afraid of killing the butterfly. But after running around after Winnie and being mocked by her, they lost their sense of reasoning and began to use their nets.
Although Winnie was fast, it was hard to best people who had tools. So a net was soon over her head and she had to stop.
“Your mother’s…” before Winnie could even curse, another larger net came down all the way over her shoulders.
What happened next was even more outrageous. The bald and strong man used his large fishing net to cover Winnie’s entire upper body. Naturally, the butterfly in Winnie’s hand was not able to escape.
Logically, Winnie can only hand over the butterfly to avoid being harmed.
The strange thing was that the three nets that covered Winnie happened to belong to three different groups.
So Winnie, who was struggling in the net, became the target of three groups of people fighting over her.
“The butterfly is ours, we caught it first.”
“Don’t be ridiculous, you only covered the head, without my fishing net, the butterfly would have long flown from her hands.”
“If it wasn’t for us, you wouldn’t have been able to catch her, did you forget how fast she ran?”
“Anyway, the butterfly is mine, so come here.”
“It’s ours.” “No, it’s ours.”
So, a game of “tug of war” began between the three groups of people. Winnie, who was under the net, was pulled left and right and was left screaming.
“Damn, are you guys trying to dismember me?” Winnie said angrily, “If you keep screwing around, I’ll kill the butterfly.”
She said as she prepared to take action.
It looks like Winnie was serious, so they stopped moving. However, they kept a tight hold on their nets to prevent Winnie from escaping.
Although I thought Winnie’s current situation was quite miserable and embarrassing, but I was still slightly thankful that the person under the net was Winnie instead of Gong CaiCai. Otherwise Gong CaiCai cannot even think of the idea of using the butterfly as a hostage.
After the class leader told Loud Mouth to take care of Gong CaiCai, she wanted to walk to Winnie to negotiate with the three groups of people, but Winnie shook her head vigorously and told her not to approach.
“It’s just a damn butterfly, I don’t care about it.” Winnie shook the butterfly, “If you remove the net, I will give you the butterfly.”
“No, what if you run away?” Someone called out.
“Let’s take the girl away together, that would be the safest choice.”
“Even if we take her away, it would be us taking her away. Do you think you have more people than us?”
“Wow.” Winnie listened to them discuss her kidnapping, but she did not show any fear, but asked: “You guys ain’t doing shit. I’m a living person, not an object, are you really trying to turn me into a specimen to hang on the wall?”
“I’m going to count to three, if you guys don’t remove the net…” Winnie revealed one of her canine teeth to deliberately make a very vicious expression, “I will tear the butterfly in half, then grind it into pieces, so you won’t even get $50,000.”
“Three…”
Gong CaiCai woke up, then when she saw Winnie covered by three nets, she got scared and passed out again.
Of course, it’s possible she couldn’t stand the shock of hearing that Winnie was going to kill an innocent butterfly, so she fainted.
“Two…”
The six thin legs of the butterfly moved quickly in cooperation as if Winnie had began to put some strength into her grip.
“Please wait.” The smart gangster hurriedly shouted, “We will remove the nets, but can you please recount to three.”
“Eh.” Winnie wondered, “What’s the point of recounting?”
The smart gangster looked at the other two groups and said, “I don’t think we can keep up the stalemate. Let’s first remove the net from this female student, then let her count to three and let go of the butterfly in her hand. The butterfly will belong to whoever catches it first, how does that sound?”
Winnie was already surrounded, so even if she was released from the nets, they were not afraid of her getting away. The other two groups of people discussed it privately for a while and thought it was an acceptable way to break the deadlock.
After the three parties reached an unanimous decision, the smart gangster ordered his men to leave a gap in the encirclement for only one person to pass through, then said:
“There will inevitably be a big battle later, so after you toss the butterfly, run away from this gap quickly to avoid getting hurt, okay?”
His idea was probably that if Winnie had an escape route near his people, she would inevitably face his direction when she let go of the butterfly. That means there was a good chance that the butterfly would be thrown towards them, thus making it easier for them to get it.
The other two groups didn’t notice his scheme and laughed at him for being timid and afraid of hurting a schoolgirl and getting investigated by the police.
“Three, two…” After they removed the nets, Winnie started the second countdown as promised.
“One.”
Winnie waved her arm and something flew into the air, then she lowered her body and jumped out of the encirclement.
The gangsters all raised their nets and fished for the object in mid-air. Who expected the first one to get it, only to find that it was a cell phone.
“We got tricked.”
“it’s all because of your stupid idea.”
“Chase her!”
Winnie, who still had the butterfly in her hand, ran towards me with all her might and handed over the butterfly to me as if it were a relay baton.
“Ye Lin, you have to buy me a new phone.” She said to me while panting.
I gratefully took the blue butterfly and ran down the mountain.
I held up the butterfly and taunted the gangsters.
“The half a million is in my hand, come after me if you can, I run really fast.”
My looks already taunted them enough, but after I said that, they gnashed their teeth and chased after me. It looks like they really intend to turn me into a specimen and hang me up a wall.
I followed the road down the mountain yesterday. I used my familiarity with the terrain and in just a few seconds, I created more than 30 meters of distance between the pursuers.
My adrenaline was pumping and it made me run faster than usual.
The butterfly was not simply money to me, I need it as a stepping stone to negotiate with Ai ShuQiao. Ultimately, everything that I’m doing right now is for my sister.
There was a rock right in front of me blocking the way, but if I went around it, I would be delayed.
Look, a leap of faith.
After I leapt over, the distance between myself and my pursuers increased.
My left hand was squeezing the wings of the butterfly and my right hand was holding onto the net. I used its long aluminum pole to move away the branches in the way and did everything possible to create problems for those behind me.
The fastest pursuer was the bald, strong man with the fishing net. He had thick skin and did not care about the small obstacles and traps I set up. He came straight towards me and made me feel an imminent threat.
I soon arrived near the foot of Cui Song Mountain. I looked up and saw a mountain covered in green, as if it had never been explored by humans, stretched out before me.
I already knew Cui Song Mountain was only one of the nearby mountains, there were more forests nearby that have not been developed by tourism and were pristine.
In order to shake off the bald man chasing after me, I did not hesitate to dive headfirst into the dense forest.
Although there was a stone monument at the foot of the mountain that said “Warning: tourists, do not enter”, but I didn’t care about it as it was an urgent situation.
