Chapter 301 - A Terrifying Circus – Reincarnation Reversal
Chapter 301 A Terrifying Circus – Reincarnation Reversal
A chill descended. Su Yang only felt cold sweat run down his spine and sweat on his hands. It wasn’t for any other reason but because their gazes were far too evil and despicable.
At a glance, it was as if he could see the howls of those people before they died. Their despair, helplessness, and fears…
The mental trauma that his salted fish mask was having a hard time healing was crumbled in an instant as it took a turn for the worse.
Darkness spread to the bottom of his heart as negative emotions overflowed. Su Yang’s expression gradually grew colder.
However, along with the darkness spreading to his heart, it gradually calmed down as well. He leaned on the chair with an expressionless face, looking at the five people standing on the stage like a clown.
A hint of surprise was evident on the faces of those five people but it was immediately replaced by a strange expression shortly after.
They didn’t make any other movement, and their bodies were filled with a silky black Qi that slowly disappeared.
An emotionless voice was also heard in Su Yang’s mind. (The Circus… Begins).
Silence. There was only deathly silence.
In the spotlight of the stage, Zhao Xiao suddenly appeared wearing a clown’s red nose. He was full of panic as he looked left and right, his every movement exaggerated like a stagehand.
He ran around the stage, hid in a corner, and carefully peeked around as if there was an unseen enemy in front of him.
After a moment, the head of security appeared out of thin air from the lights.
He was wearing a slightly tight suit and his muscles grew so tightly that the buttons looked like they were about to burst at the seams. There was something strange about wearing what was obviously a formal suit on him.
What was even more bizarre was that there was a shiny golden cloak outside his suit, making his entire ensemble look absurd.
When he saw the security chief, Zhao Xiao carefully waved toward him. The security chief looked left and right, walked toward him, and squatted down. Su Yang saw their mouths opening and closing as if they were talking, but no sound was heard.
There was a gold-cloaked stranger eager to talk with a red-nosed clown on the large stage.
The whole ‘circus’ performance seemed like it was done by mimes. There was no sound, only the performance itself.
Then, Monkey, Baldy, and Sea Serpent appeared in turn. One held a magic wand, one wore a half-mask while the other wore a colorful wig.
As they ran, circus props appeared on stage one after the other. There were warping boards, stilts, and fire rings.
As they ran, Su Yang looked at him and suddenly discovered… A Zhao Xiao with playing cards quietly emerged from behind a circus box.
Right in front of him, was another Zhao Xiao wearing a red nose.
While everyone wasn’t paying attention, the Zhao Xiao in the back with poker cards took a knife from his pocket and stabbed the first Zhao Xiao without hesitation.
The first Zhao Xiao let out a miserable scream!
This was the first time Su Yang heard the sound of this circus. The screams, wails, and terror was like it came from an evil spirit.
Strangely enough, the screams didn’t affect the other four. They were still hiding and talking as if they hadn’t heard the screams.
Slowly, more and more people who looked like the initial five appeared. Each of them held different props as they dodged while brutally killing the others.
The stage was eventually covered with blood as and the scene grew increasingly bloodier.
Many Zhao Xiaos, Sea Serpents, security chiefs, Monkeys, and Baldies appeared on the stage while screaming in desperation as they died one after the other…
The stage slowly calmed down, and the last thing that remained on the stage was the Sea Serpent who wore a clown mask dyed black on one half of it.
The mask was on the left side of Sea Serpent’s face, and its expression was wrinkled together as if it was crying silently.
However, Sea Serpent’s right face, the part of the mask dyed in white, was blooming with a bright smile. The smile was incomparably mechanical and rigid as if it was carved into his face….
The black and white weeping and smiling made everything seem a little weird. Anyone who saw it wouldn’t be able to stop themselves from looking
The masked Sea Serpent bowed towards Su Yang, and the eyes on the smiling right face emitted a silky coldness that seemed to be filled with madness.
Su Yang expressionlessly looked straight into his eyes, disregarding the madness in his eyes.
Since he was able to kill him once, he could kill him a second, third, and fourth time…
‘When he was alive, I was already able to kill him. Now that he’s dead, I can kill him even more!
[The circus is over.)
With an emotionless cue, the stage was shrouded in darkness once more before the lights in the circus came back on as if nothing had happened. The blood and guts on the floor, the five dead men, along with Sea Serpent wearing the clown mask all disappeared.
Su Yang looked around, not quite understanding the meaning of the show.
‘Is it just to scare me or does the circus have an ulterior motive?
‘Is the item’s ability to make the people I kill perform in a circus? That’s a bit nonsensical, isn’t it?’
Feeling that it wasn’t that simple Su Yang once again picked up the notes placed on the table, intending to see what the other options were about.
Flipping the first page of the notes, it was still the same four options. [Watch Performance), (View Performers], [Add Performers) and [Reincarnation Reversal).
Unlike how it was earlier, the (Reincarnation Reversal) option was no longer grayed out. He could now select it.
On the other hand, [Watch Performance) had been grayed out instead so he could no longer select it.
‘Does this mean I can only watch the circus once per month?’ While he was thinking that, Su Yang clicked on [Reincarnation Reversal).
A prompt popped up in front of him.
(Reincarnation Reversal: You can use Reincarnation Reversal to revive the person who won during the previous performance. They’ll become a resident performer and will no longer have to suffer from being reincarnated.] ‘Reincarnated? Suffer from being reincarnated?’
Su Yang wanted to see if there were further instructions, but there were no more hints.
He didn’t choose without putting any thought into it. Instead, he bowed his head down and thought deeply.
‘No longer suffering from reincarnation. Does that mean that as long as I don’t tap [Reincarnation Reversal), they’d always suffer from reincarnation?’ Su Yang looked at his notes and the second page flipped by itself. On the page was an illustration of Sea Serpent wearing a clown mask. His face was both crying and smiling at the same time, looking incomparably weird and terrifying.
‘Is this man really Sea Serpent?
‘And what about the many, many Sea Serpents that appeared before?
‘Is it a different personality? Or different Sea Serpents in different rounds, in different parallel spaces?’
Just seeing Sea Serpent like that sent a chill down Su Yang’s heart.
Although he wasn’t afraid, he didn’t want to choose randomly. After all, the circus was too weird and mysterious. He didn’t know what kind of situation he’d put himself in if he chose the wrong option so he tapped on (Give Up).
As Su Yang chose that option, the Sea Serpent illustration in a clown mask actually moved. With hatred radiating from his eyes, he howled miserably, struggling to crawl out of the notes. However, a black vortex slowly appeared from behind him, engulfed his body, voice, and everything he had…
Then, the second page burned quietly and as soon as it burned out, a wisp of wind blew through it sending its ashes into the wind.
The notebook flipped back to the first page once more. This time, not only was (Watch Performance) grayed out, but even [Reincarnation Reversal) was grayed out as well.
This meant that neither of these two options could be selected.
Since these two options couldn’t be selected, Su Yang selected the second option [View Performers).
Clicking on the second option, it caused the notebook to suddenly flip to the third page. Su Yang knew it was the third page because the pages were numbered at the bottom of the page right in the middle. A [3] was clearly written on it.
At the top of the third page were two large words. (Performer List].
Underneath was a small grid and inside each grid was a person’s head. Below the grid was the character’s number.
There were five grids per row and three rows in total. Su Yang looked at it, the first row was the five-man group for Zhao Xiao and the second line… Little Monster Beans?!
Su Yang took a look and saw a row of zeros and ones. There were a total of six. He calculated that he had indeed thrown in six little monster beans that were about to explode in exchange for the system’s formula items.
‘They actually appeared here as well?’
Su Yang didn’t feel guilty throwing these 6 little monster beans to their deaths. He really picked some of the ones that were about to explode. If he didn’t do that, they’d explode within a few more minutes at the very least and a couple more seconds at most.
However, he didn’t expect that his unintentional action actually ‘saved’ them.
They can actually be reborn in this circus?’
Su Yang felt like this was a mistake!
Those little monster that exploded naturally and wasn’t ‘caught’ by Su Yang lost their lives completely. Well… Su Yang could only say that life was full of surprises…
Although the circus looked very strange, resurrecting somebody wasn’t that simple. Still, it was better to be alive and resurrected than to be dead.
After reading all the performer descriptions, everything was clear. The performer list was probably intelligent creatures that were killed by Su Yang, special items, or his monsters. Those killed by him would automatically be reincarnated into the Reincarnation Circus, become performers, and suffer the pain of reincarnation
‘So that’s what they meant when they said you won’t escape even in death.’
Of course, these performers can also be ‘pardoned’ by Su Yang if they turned them into permanent performers according to the circus.
However, what exactly was a permanent performer?
Su Yang was a bit confused.
Ever since Su Yang entered this circus, everything he saw was related to reincarnation. Even the facilities were related to reincarnation
However, Su Yang could vaguely remember that the name of this special item was called (Burning Reincarnation Circus)! ‘What about the burning? ‘Where’s the burning part of it?
‘This circus has too many secrets…’
Su Yang pondered as he clicked on the last feature he hadn’t checked out. (New Performer).
