I Was Forced To Marry The Phoenix Empress

Chapter 327: Returning

Chapter 327: Returning

After dinner, he practised his cultivation until late at night. It was only after that that he went to sleep.

...

"Fuck! I overslept!"

Yi Chen exclaimed as he threw the sheets aside and looked out the window.

The sun was long out, and the time was already past ten. The first thing he did was to take out his sound transmission stone and inform Du Ming Li about this delay.

"It’s alright, Young Master Chen. The transportation array is all set up so you can use it anytime you want. Therefore, there’s no need for you to rush." As she finished those words, she let out an amused chuckle.

"...I understand. Thank you, Manager Du," Yi Chen answered with a grateful and embarrassed smile before cutting off the transmission.

As planned, he busied himself with freshening up the next instant, got ready, had a hearty breakfast downstairs and finally left for the Red Velvet Pavilion when it was nearing eleven in the morning.

Meanwhile, at a different part of the city, Han Fu had just got out of his house while carrying a hesitant expression on his face.

’...I can’t keep postponing this pill development for any longer,’ Han Fu thought while making plans to enter into closed-door training, ’By the time I’m out...won’t she be already married to that guy?’

A part of Han Fu wanted to give up on everything and keep visiting Wei Ru in an attempt to change her mind for the better.

However, he also knew that this couldn’t go on for much longer.

Letting out a deep breath while firming his wounded heart, he soon arrived outside the Myriad Jasmine Inn.

’I’ll tell the receptionist to inform her about my situation...maybe Wei Ru would agree to meet me if she realises that I will be out of contact for months...’

Han Fu thought in an attempt to convince his anxious heart while glancing at the entrance.

Stabilising his breathing, he pushed open the door and finally made his way in.

Seeing that he had the receptionist’s attention the moment he entered, Han Fu said while pointing up with his finger, "Today, can you inform Madam Wei that-"

However, before Han Fu could speak further, a wide smile formed on the receptionist’s face as he cut Han Fu off midway, unable to curb the trace of excitement he was feeling for him.

"Elder Han Fu, Madam Wei has asked me to guide you to her room today."

"...you, what did you just say?" Han Fu couldn’t help but ask, with surprise evident in his eyes.

All this while, despite the various excuses made by the Inn staff, he knew that Wei Ru had always been at the Inn whenever he had visited.

However, not wanting to do something unsightly, he had continued to politely accept the excuses just so he could get to meet her privately.

Therefore, to see the very thing he wanted most to happen right in front of his eyes, a great shock was evident on Han Fu’s face.

Seeing the state of confusion on Han Fu’s face, the receptionist said, "I said that Madam Wei had informed me the first thing in the morning to guide Elder Han Fu to her room the moment he arrives."

"..."

Han Fu was still finding it all too difficult to believe, but seeing the receptionist gesturing towards the stairs, he soon got hold of his mind and followed him up the stairs.

"Then I’ll be going, Master Han Fu." The receptionist bowed towards Han Fu before finally taking his leave. A trace of anticipation was evident in his eyes as he did so.

As for Han Fu, he nodded at the receptionist before taking in a deep breath and turning his head towards the door that was in front of him.

He had no idea why Wei Ru had finally agreed to meet face to face, but he knew that this was the only chance he had if he wanted to change her mind.

With a firm gaze, he knocked on the door the next second.

"Come in."

Hearing the familiar voice from inside, Han Fu pushed open the door.

"I’ve been expecting you for a while now," Wei Ru said with a smile while pointing towards the living room, "Take a seat, I’ve already prepared so we can talk to our heart’s content and share what we had been suppressing for too long,"

"This..."

Han Fu couldn’t help but feel a lump in his throat the moment he noticed Wei Ru’s smile that was directed towards him.

So, to be on the receiving side of a smile he hadn’t seen in decades, he couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed.

"Hm? What are you waiting for? The tea will get cold if it keeps standing there like that, you know?" Wei Ru shook her head while smiling as she poured a cup of tea for him from her seat.

"Come." Wei Ru said after a brief pause as she continued, "There’s a lot I’ve been wanting to share with you in all these years...and I think I’ll finally be able to do it today."

Soon taking a seat, Han Fu took the cup and, under Wei Ru’s encouraging gaze, took the first sip.

His eyes couldn’t help but widen briefly as he did so.

"Is it good? It’s the Green Lake Tea Leaves. Since it’s been a long time, I’m not sure whether it’s still your favourite or not..." Wei Ru stated with a somewhat unsure smile.

"...you still remember?" Han Fu asked as a warm feeling started welling up inside his chest.

"It’s more like I could never forget..." Wei Ru softly chuckled at those words as the conversation between the two of them slowly started to deepen.

Meanwhile, Yi Chen had already arrived at the Red Velvet Pavilion’s branch and, standing in front of the teleportation array, turned towards Du Ming Li.

"Thank you for everything you did for me on the following day, Manager Du. I’m truly grateful for that." Yi Chen said while bowing respectfully.

He truly meant those words, as not only was she of great help in coordinating things with the experts to ensure that the transportation array was fixed as fast as possible, but also the opinions she had shared about the Violet Heaven House had helped him tremendously.

It had played an important role when he was trying to convince Bai Tianhe yesterday.

"You’re welcome, Young Master Chen. I’ll make sure to attend the Silver Cloud Tournament to cheer for you as I promised." Du Ming Li said with a bright smile while waving her hand towards him.

"Please do. I would love to meet you again." Yi Chen nodded with a similar smile before finally focusing his attention on the transportation array.

’Let’s go then...’

Taking in a deep breath, he walked straight towards the gateway and was engulfed by the blue light soon after.

’!!!’

As his entire surroundings turned blue, Yi Chen found himself moving with great speed within that empty space.

While at it, he couldn’t help but clench his teeth because of the intense pressure he was feeling in his eardrums at the moment, which almost made him bite his tongue accidentally.

The journey that was several thousand kilometres long took less than a minute as Yi Chen soon found himself standing outside another gateway in a completely new environment.

"Greetings, Young Master Chen," a staff member who was at the Ninth Meridian Refinement Stage greeted him outside the array with a warm smile.

"Greetings," Yi Chen nodded with a smile and asked a second later, "Any news about Madam Gao? She had said that she was going to the Silver Cloud Kingdom capital city because of some important work."

Hearing Yi Chen’s question, the man nodded and said, "That’s indeed the case, Young Master Chen.

We just got informed about it a few weeks ago. Madam Gao has already reached the Silver Cloud Kingdom, and a replacement manager will be sent to the branch in the next couple of weeks."

Clearly knowing Yi Chen’s identity and his status as a golden card member, the man made sure to answer his question comprehensively.

"I see..." Yi Chen nodded and asked the next moment, "I need to go to the Great Divinator Guild’s branch. Can you tell me the directions?"

Hearing Yi Chen’s question, the man immediately offered to arrange a carriage for him instead, an idea Yi Chen didn’t refuse.

A few moments later, sitting inside a comfortable carriage, Yi Chen soon made his way towards the Great Divinator Guild’s branch situated deep within the city.

Glancing outside at the familiar buildings passing by him, Yi Chen was hit by a sense of nostalgia.

’...It feels good to be back.’ He thought to himself while enjoying the rattling sound of the carriage’s wheels.

It was a thirty-to forty-minute-long journey before the carriage finally came to a stop. Outside the carriage, a golden building entered Yi Chen’s view the next moment.

"So, this is the Great Divinator’s Guild, huh?" he softly muttered to himself.
